      You may have missed one of the bell housing bolts. If not, find a gap where you can pry the bellhousing from the block. But make sure you have unfastened every bell housing bolt first. There is nothing else to hold the transmission to the block except possibly corrosion in the registration dowels.

    My car recently started doing no crank and no start could it be the starter relay because I know the starter is good is new

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ วันที่ผ่านมา

      No crank could be a number of things. Wiring/loose wires (battery and starter), ground (battery and transmission), connecting wire from starter solenoid to starter relay, starter relay, ignition switch, connection from ignition switch to starter relay, clutch switch. So yes it could be the starter relay, or any of the above.

I will say this can be easily done without removing the knuckle, axle, etc. At least on the 2008 sienna. I was able to do it as others have stated .The steering pump was wedged in there pretty good but a few gentle taps with a mallet and it came out fine. Still definitely worth watching if you're looking to do this repair!

I'm not sure how hard it is going to be to get the rear head and exhaust off with the engine in, or the timing belt stuff through the wheel arch. cheers & thanks again. (2001 Avalon -Aust build)

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Head gasket yes you want to drop the engine - too difficult to deal with the rear bank in-car. Getting the exhaust off is not a big problem, buit just imagine trying to set the head back on there at a 45 degree inclination, not to mention loosening and tightening the head bolts plus the cam caps plus everything else. Timing belt is usually done in-car, I do out-of-car videos for the timing belt so people can see everything.

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're asking about the Lower Intake. It has bolts and two studs all around its periphery. They are all 12mm hex. Just unfasten the bolts and the two nuts. You also have to remove the water inlet on the timing belt side.

    • @Merryfrankster_

      Probably I covered this in one of the knock sensor videos, because this lower intake has to come off when you service the knock sensors. Also, I may have covered it in the thermostat housing video, because, again, the intake has to come off to service the thermostat housing.

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Normally the power steering pump is not too much trouble. Sometimes it is just as easy asa can be. But you might get unlucky. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Cheers Frankster. Thanks for recommending that I check this video out first. Where do I get the service bolt from? It looks like I could possible use on of the quarter panel bolts.

      You can use any M8x1.25 bolt from anywhere.

    You make a big mistake you should have done the sump bolts first before fighting up the cover

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That was not a mistake. There was a reason for it. The change had to be done in situ with the engine on the ground, quickly. There was no time to monkey around and there was no "fighting" involved. Sometimes expedience takes precedence.

    so the bell housing is just so you can connect the starter motor? I'm just trying to find out if it's okay to crank the motor without the intake manifold..... seems like it is (as long as I pull the fuel fuse and relay out).... Thanks again, Frankster.

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Correct, the bell housing is for the starter. Sure you can crank with the intake off. But don't let anything be sucked in to the engine.

    I have a 2008 lexus ES 350 that has a 1 second rattle on cold starts only amd not any other time idle or driving. How can I tell if it's the locking pin or the cam gear housing bolts coming loose? Will it sound different for each one of those problems?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_ 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The noise you report is not from the cam gear housing falling apart. See my related video on the cam gears of 2gr-fe.

      Which video specifically?? Mine sounds just like the death rattle for 1-3 seconds on cold start

      @@83adub for your noise, change the valve cover o-rings, clean the vvt oil filters, use a little bit heavier oil 10w30 or 10W40, and you should be good to go.

      Thank you. So if it was the housing bolts or the collar coming out, would it be a different noise than just cold start rattle?
