  • With 2010-2013 Hyundai Tucson IX35, problems with the door locks not opening and closing and/or the windows not rolling up or down can be due to a malfunction in the power distribution module aka the "Junction Box - Instrument Panel" with P/N 91950-2S501 (check the correct part number for your specific vehicle). This is a widespread failure that affects many vehicles. It may be misdiagnosed as failure in window switch or window motor or door lock switch or door lock actuator, but the fix requires replacing the junction box.

hey this is Frank we're looking at a 2011 Hyundai Tucson also known as a I35 and some markets in this video I'm going to tell you about an electrical issue that affects these vehicles it can lead to a malfunctioning of the doors and windows it can be very difficult to trace down according to a senior technician at the Hyundai dealership near me this does affect quite a lot of these cars so keep [Music] watching if you have an issue with the windows or door locks not working correctly you might spend a lot of time chasing your tail trying to track down a problem in a window switch or a door switch or a door actuator or a window motor and so on but in fact the problem lies somewhere else this unit that looks like a simple fuse box is actually pretty sophisticated power distribution module and it uh controls a lot of the functions for the windows and doors these units can malfunction and when that happens then the window motors or the door locks will not work properly and the only way to fix it is to replace this entire unit here's a closeup so you can see the part number and I'm going to include a link to where you can purchase this at a very affordable price before you proceed you want to disconnect the battery negative as I have done here this unit is located down under the dash on the driver's side behind this
panel to remove this vent panel there are two screws on the side but first the top panel above the speedometer has to come out and this Center panel also pulls right out you just pull on it strongly and it will pop out the two screws on the side are behind this panel that just has uh retainer clips and it can be popped right off there are two screws on the front of the vent panel and they are behind the uh knee panel and you have two screws on the side of the panel and you have two screws at either side in the front the next step is to disconnect all the connectors that plug into the unit they're conventional connectors that just have a tab on on the top that you press down and then pull back to release the connector so here are the panel has been removed when you start reinstalling these make sure that the connectors click solidly into the place and when they're in position they are flush just flush against the housing so just make sure to press them strongly enough so that they engage completely in locking into place both the front and the back connectors are secured and the unit is bolted securely in place and now it's the moment of truth let's see if the door locks and the windows
work so I think you can see there that my passenger door lock is working which is not working where it was not working before and let's try my rear window is now working which it was not working before same thing on the other side this was a kind of a repair that I arrived at out of desperation because nothing else seems to seem to work and it fixed all the problems I was having with the door locks and the uh windows I hope you've enjoyed this video and thank you for watching
