What amps use the 330k plate resistor?

I'm not a trained electrician, apart from fascinated by you guys, I'd like to buy an origin 20 and convert it to a plexi, can you buy these extra resistors and caps readily or do you buy a pack of various values, also I understand you need to decharge a capacitor but which one, I fancy trying this mod out myself, what is/are the main points to consider. Cheerz it looks like simple but I know it isn't.

Any reason the V2 is bridged underneath the board, could it be done on top?

Plate fed '79 Marshall rings a bell!

Nice work ! It's hard to imagine a band like that having a touring rig with an amp that fucked up.. kind of mind blowing , really.

I would have left the pots alone, personally. You don't get a crazy amount of signal loss from a slightly under spec bass pot, but you get a ton of boost from overspeced mid and treble pot. Just use them slightly lower if you want classic Marshall, ramp them up if you want the extra juice.

Noting the absence of "zing" and finding the culprit.. another great job Jason!

Oh its a Marshall,they're the best,you should get one....well,in the old days they were all hit and miss,when some famous guitar hero says "i only play a plexi",you don't really know what's in that unit until you take it apart

Wow, just wow! In 14 years, I have not come across one of these plate fed Marshalls, but with what was done to this thing and mostly stock at the factory....how to turn a great amp into one that sounds like SHIT!! Wow.

Great content. As a Modern Digital guy, this is like watching the History Channel to see how the Roman Empire lived.

Tighten the screws holding the xformer to the frame to silence the mechanical hum. No audible difference, the tone shaping is in the valve circuitry. It does create a negative impression that Marshall offshores so much these days for cheaper made parts but doesn't pass on those savings. And that does affect the psychoacoustics.

You guys are playing through Marshalls and want reverb? If you take one apart you will see a Reverb knob (maybe), but inside it's not connected. 😂

Since watching this I've been having dreams of plugging my White Falcon into that beast. I am a living room warrior, would a super bass be too loud do you think? One is for sale in Poland $5,400 plus freight $650 plus GST $540 plus a trip to the Amp Technician say $500 - worth it you reckon? Fantastic video btw.

I have my 2203 (86') I got it as that was my dream amp. It sound so muddy! One of my worst amps. This video probably save me some cash to replace it for youngest model! I just wanted to ask you, on my Origin 20 amp head, can I use the DI out to my interface with our having a speaker plugged in or something like the two notes reactive load box. What I am seeing people say is that there is an artificial load when no speaker is plugged in. Thanks for any clarification and I really enjoy your videos. I was friends with a guy named Frank Levi, who was my go to for repairs or mods, for decades, but he has passed away. Thank you for your time.

Wasn't really a fair comparison of the Fryette because you had the reactive load off for the Fryette and on for all the other load boxes. Switches set in the middle "Flat" position means no reactive load is being presented and it's merely straight attenuation with zero reactive load.
