Great work. So many guys out there want to mod these amps for more gain and they end up sounding pants after the mod. They are so good stock, why change a good thing. I think even the best high gain mods with these are always a compromise, and you lose something. Keep up the good work.
Hey Jason, and other amp savvy fellas in the comments. I have 5f6a build that I added a 10k cold clipper stage between v1a and the volume pot going into the cathode follower stage. (The cold clipper stage is brought in/out of the audio path with a push pull pot) The problem I have is that it only works when the volume pot is full up. As I bright the volume down it becomes glitchy and then disappears. Other times it works for about 30 seconds of playing and then fades out like stated before. Any advice? Is it blocking distortion? Bad pot? Maybe I should put the CC stage between the V1a volume pot and cathode follower?
@@HeadfirstAmps may be. I am reflowing likely suspects. It’s just curious that it works full volume and only starts to fade itself away when volume is below maxed out. Still scratching my head but thanks for your suggestion!
I'd like to send my Helix LT to you so you can modify the 2203 model in the Unit. I think learning how to Modify "models" is the future..........since tubes are the past................ 1,2,3...........go. Let the tube amp guys roast me. LOL. Thanks for your content. My life is changing and I am starting to make more money. THE First thing I buy after I get a car, a home, new appliances, a goldfish pond, a zero turn mower, a brush hog, and a utility tractor along with a 4x4 and all the A Team episodes on blu ray will be one of your Amps. Love the channel and thanks for being cool.----Ben

The breakup on that amp when you demoed it was spot on just like you want the amp to respond
I love both before and after( its the best )
Good troubleshooting process and technique. 😊
Much better now it’s not turning to mush. Love this series❤
Revised amp sounds so much better! Thanks Jason for sharing this.
You really made that amp sound great
Thanks John!
Wow, sounds sooo much better after
Mahalo Jason. Great info.
Enjoyed this.

Sounds like a bad solder joint

big difference... just one resistor can make!
Jason, do you have an EU partner for the pcb boards? I would like to have a board, but don't want to ship all the way from Australia.
Look up Manta Electronics, Italy
@@HeadfirstAmps Ty so much!
It’s normally only a few weeks to ship from here to EU
@@HeadfirstAmps it's the customs mate, incredibly frustrating and slow from outside the EU. I would not have any problem even with longer times

NaLex's Amplex does exactly that. You can modify his models, create your own, or even re-create any existing amp using a schematic-based system.
I’ll mod your Helix LT via an introduction to a skip bin.
@@HeadfirstAmps Will there be room in the bin? I mean with all the busted outdated tube amps in there?
I have an 83 2203, had it serviced etc, don't sound right or like others I've had. Maybe I need to send it to you.
Sure thing
Successful de-fizz
1.4M resistance lol
Holy crap that's such a huge difference.. I sooooo wish u lived in oregon so I could bring u my amps to go thru... u definitely know ur stuff
Thanks!
