      It honestly gets better as you do more of them. You have to think about what they're actually asking, the topic your answer is based on, and the command word i.e. evaluate, describe, suggest etc. You get to know what key words they want you to write as you practise more!! :)

    hi, I dont get how to find out the tangent at 24:33 ....?

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, basically a tangent is a straight line that "just touches" a curve and is used a calculate a gradient which in this case would give us the rate. They're used because it's very difficult to make accurate calculations with a curve. You can draw the tangent at any point on the curve and it can be any length because you'll get the same answer. To find the gradient (rate) it's just a case of dividing the y axis by the x axis. Hope this makes sense? :)

    In the very first exam question, it asks how mRNA is produced in the Nucleus. I thought you would right about Splicing as that makes mature mRNA from Pre-mRNA. However, you said you need to write about transcription, but why when in transcription Pre-mRNA is produced not mRNA????

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can write about splicing but it's mainly writing about transcription given that it's a 6 mark question (splicing doesn't have many steps so you can't get many marks on that). If you look at the mark scheme, you can write any 6 of the points there. :)

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! It means "per hectare". A hectare is a measure of an area size. The graph is showing gross productivity in an area (as the text says) so that's why you include it in the units. Hope this helps!

    05:59 states that one of the adaptations for gas exchange in fish is that the filaments are thin increasing the rate of diffusion. doesnt the rate of diffusion decrease becuase that is what I saw in the mark scheme???

    for the last question could i explain the curves plateau because at higher temperatures(outside the optimal range) the hydrogen and ionic bonds in the enzymes tertiary structures are affected resulting in change in shape of active site, therefore the enzymes used in the reaction wont be able to form E-S complexes and therefore rate of reaction slows down, or does it have to be because substrate is used up.

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the exam if you're told to describe the action of a lysosome, you would say that they fuse with a vesicle (which is what contains an engulfed foreign substance/pathogen) and release lysozyme (examiner prefers "hydrolytic enzyme" - you would still get a mark for putting lysozyme).
