  • In this video, I explain ALL of the content required for the "Control of blood glucose concentration" section for AQA A Level Biology. This includes: glycogenesis, glycogenolysis, gluconeogenesis, insulin action, glucagon action, adrenaline action, the second messenger model and type 1 + type 2 diabetes. Time stamps are in the comments section.
    I also go through a few exam questions and explain their mark schemes.
    The content in this video crosses over with other exam boards too.
    Please leave a comment if you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them!!! :)

      @@AlevelBiologyHelp it went so well!! I struggle so much in biology and the questions were actually easy- they were longer mark questions and we didnt even have a question on this, the only a2 content was photosynthesis. But im definitely going back to your channel for my last bio paper,a2.

    Hi just to check, so the beta-cells and then alpha-cells in the pancreas are the chemoreceptors?

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite. You just need to know that beta cells produce and secrete insulin, whilst alpha cells secrete glucagon :) Hope this helps!

    Very confused
    You talk about the adenylate cyclase in terms of it in glucagon action, but in my notes given from college it says adenylate cyclase is involved in adrenaline action?

    • @behappy1452
      @behappy1452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i have the same, i checked on another web and i think the glucagon process also applies to adrenaline

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, it's involved in both!

    how are you so good at answering exam questions, i know the content but find it really difficult to apply my knowledge

    • @AlevelBiologyHelp
      @AlevelBiologyHelp  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It honestly gets better as you do more of them. You have to think about what they're actually asking, the topic your answer is based on, and the command word i.e. evaluate, describe, suggest etc. You get to know what key words they want you to write as you practise more!! :)
