Dawes is a good band, and I'm sure I will like this one Passwords, I'll listen. Carl, Pick 2 that you think I should check out, and enjoy ! Thanks. The artwork looks good the way you present it ! I believe I have that Grizzly Bear , their 3rd record sounds interesting.

Hi JT. It took me a couple of plays to warm to Dawes' 'Passwords'. Then it all clicked into place. They would have fitted in nicely on the Asylum label in the late 70s ... For me 'Veckatimest' is a stronger album than 'Shields' due to the gorgeous vocals ... Ignoring the ones you probably already know, I'd say check out the Lilacs and Mr Fox.

Lilacs and Mr. Fox.. got it.. listening on my commute home ! I really enjoyed that Dawes album. The first track reminded me of Ryan Adams, Firefall, and Fogleberg all mixed together. The 2nd track is nice with a nod to Steely Dan. Thanks for the recommendation 🎵

Hi Carl. Plenty of fabulous bargains there. I really like The Wave Pictures, although only have the odd album by them. I imagine they make quite the racket live. I rather like Shot Of Love, despite it being slightly unloved by Dylan fans. I saw him play in Wolverhampton recently and he finished the set with Every Grain Of Sand. A real highlight. Cheers. John

Hi John. Your comment was 'held' for some strange reason ... It was quite a few years ago now when I saw the Wave Pictures live; it was in an upstairs room at a pub. They were actually very competent musicians ... I'm drawn to Dylan's Christian albums partly because many critics and fans hate them. The musicianship is some of the best in his career. I've never seen him live. Cheers!

You've done well again up there Carl I've not even been seeing much new stock of CDs down here either things are a bit thin on the ground to say the least. So Dylan had a messianic conversion I believe going to a Jewish congregation though where he is now I'm not sure. I hear the film about him at the cinema now is worth going to.

Hi Martin. It has been quieter since Christmas; but I did pick up 16 CDs today in one charity shop for 50 pence each. (I may show them all in a quickie video, before taking a more considered view on the ones I keep after listening to them. Rob Walker has done something similar today.) ... Like a lot of singer songwriters, Dylan often takes inspiration from the stories and poetry of the Bible. I'm actually quite excited about the new Dylan biopic. I'd previously sworn I'd never see another biopic after paying good money to see 'Rocket Man'.

Always enjoy your videos Carl! I would never have assumed you would have picked up a copy of "The Razors Edge", but the variety of music is what makes your videos so entertaining. Growing up on early AC/DC, I had dismissed them by the late '80's. In recent years have gone back to all the albums I passed on during that period and really enjoy them. My own thrifting hauls have been pretty meager in the past couple of months, but have found some gems in Jessie Colin Young's "Song For Juli", David Crosby's "Sky Trails", Savoy Brown's "Goin' To The Delta", Waxahatchee's "Tiger Blood" and especially Nick Drake's "Pink Moon". Thanks again.

Rick Roberts - nice mention there. Firefall had some great material and he was also in later day Flying Burritos too. And another great mention about the original Wicker Man - one of my favorite films and I own three different Wicker Man soundtrack albums. Some great stuff there - and three for one pound. Just when I think I find some good deals, but wow. "Suzanne was painful" by Pearls Before Swine. Now that's a classic review. Honestly I wasn't thrilled with them either, and I dumped their CD that I had once bought. Shot Of Love, beyond it's horrible cover, IMHO, is a fine album. Great deal there. I never saw that Kate Bush single - very cool. I'm gonna be on the lookout for that Lilacs CD too. Thanks for the recommendation.

Great stuff Carl your wide range of interests and knowledge of forms of music is second to none. I find it incredible how you have kept your enthusiasm. You are the true inheritor of John Peel"s crown and should have your own radio show . Unfortunately I don't have enough brain cells left to absorb much new music or more left field acts but tend to go with what I know and love. Agree with your comments on the Kate Bush single and Tunnel of Love. I would say Straightshooter is in fact the best Bad Company album just slightly better than the excellent first album and a standard they just about kept up for 'Run with the Pack' before a real decline in quality on the next three albums with the original line up, with each only having two or three good tracks.

There's also a series on Great Australian albums, also available on TH-cam, which includes an episode on 'Born Sandy Devotional'. Definitely a masterpiece. Laughably, these job lots were actually selling - but the feedback for these sellers usually included some pretty disappointed punters!
