Apologies if you're here to see 'Goo Goo Muck' by the Cramps. Due to an editing glitch, I had to delete the end of the video which included the Cramps and the Users. I will show these in the next episode of 'The Joy Of The Single'.
The Stones, The Cynics.. I like it! " God Only Knows" single. I need one of those ! 😊
Hi JT. I like UK 1960s EPs, but they are notoriously hard to find in near-mint condition ... It would be nice to see some more of your singles. Best wishes from the UK!
Oh, I have a lot of singles, now. This Wednesday, I will show some more, definitely. I took an extra week off from video making. My wife's birthday 🎀
@@jtsrecordroom3963 You've got the balance right; video making shouldn't get in the way of the 'real world'. I hope you had a nice family celebration ... See you next week.
We are having a nice time, we are both working today, then Lake Tahoe for Jum's birthday.. Dinner , the beach, swimming and just plain old relaxing !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Sounds good.
Hi Carl, I love that Sam Cook single; the sleeve is brilliant. Super Snazz rocks. I own Jerry Lee on TMR. I prefer Far Away Eyes, the RS B-side. I love the Cynics. I’m in agreement with you on God Only Knows. Cool Norton single; I own it. Cheers
Hi Mark. I replied to a message last night from MGK Boston thinking it was you! Doh ... I'm glad you liked the selection of singles. I'd forgotten how much Supersnazz rocked ... I thought you'd have the Mary Weiss single, with it being on Norton ... There's a lot of overlap in our taste in singles. Thanks for commenting.
Nice video. Will have to look up some of your suggestions. Thanks for sharing 👍❤
Hi Tim. The Joy Of The Single playlist on my channel is a good place to start. Thanks for watching and commenting!
A grand mixture of 7" singles Carl.
God Only Knows....the greatest pop record of all time,a bold statement sir 🤔🤔🤔
Hi Nick. I guess there's a lot of competition for the title of greatest pop record, and of course personal taste is subjective, but 'God Only Knows' never fails to leave me in awe - lyrics, tune, arrangement and vocals (lead and harmonies) are all perfect ... I trust everything is well with you. I'll catch up with your channel soon. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful stuff Carl . I love that Sam Cooke song, used to be followed by the equally amazing ‘Nothing Can Change This Love’ ’ on the Man & His Music comp. The only Yum Yums I know is the girl group who put out the Nothern Soul Stomper ‘It’s Going To Be A Big Thing’
Hi Harris. The Norwegian Yum Yums are right up my street - guitar pop punk/power pop ... Sam Cooke's voice is one of the wonders of the world. Cheers.
Lovely Dream Syndicate single. Good to see The Cynics too.
Never knew about Carbon / Silicon...
Hi John. I think it was you that showed the Cynics' first album recently? It must have been in the back of my mind when I picked out that single ... I picked up that Dream Syndicate single many years ago in Madrid. It still has a sticker on it for 700 pesetas ... Some enterprising record label (or better still Mick Jones and Tony James) should put together a CD box set of all the Carbon/Silicon stuff.
Yes I did show that Cynics LP and need to catch up with their recent material.
@@baggyhi-fi8628 It would be good to see them live too.
Oh, nice Third Man Jerry Lee Lewis. Mogwai! I don't collect 7" records, but every time I see a video about them, I think I should change my tactics. Very nice sleeves on some of these and I love those picture discs.
Hi Brian. Mogwai - what a band! I saw them live back in 1998 supporting Manic Street Preachers ... I can't readily think of the name of the artist who did the Super Furry Animals sleeves; he had a really distinctive style. Cheers. P.S. I just watched a video from a 1997 German TV pop show with Ultravox doing 'Dangerous Rhythm' and 'Young Savage'. Brilliant!!
I meant of course 1977 (not 1997) re Ultravox. The energy on 'Young Savage' is pure 77 punk mixed with the style of early Roxy Music.
Hi Carl,Yes Thanks Hope you're keeping well too.I do remember seeing one old b & w photo some time ago where Glen Campbell was shown in the blue striped shirt they used to wear on stage with his bass guitar, but you're right very rare to see pics of him in The BB.
I'm OK thanks. I'll do a search on Google and see if I can find any pictures of Glen Campbell on stage with the Beach Boys.
Some great looking sleeves and labels of songs/bands that I mostly don't know Carl. A decent cover of Shake Some Action sounds interesting, I'll try and seek that out for a listen. Cheers Dale
Hi Dale. I've always liked 7-inch singles. I've managed to pick up a lot over the years for reasonable prices. Those Super Furry Animals picture discs for example were probably 99p each from HMV ... The Yum Yums' version of 'Shake Some Action' is worth hearing. It's on the Joy Of The Single playlist on my channel. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.
Hi Carl! Very cool to see that Sun 7" from the Killer! Those picture discs are pretty cool too!
Hi Mark. The Jerry Lee Lewis b-side 'You Win Again' is excellent. So sad that most of the original rock 'n' rollers have passed away ... Super Furry Animals were one of the best British bands ever. So clever.
Oops, sorry Mike. With you mentioning Jerry Lee, I thought you were Mark from Mad4Vinyl! It was late!
Another nice selections of 7 inch singles Carl. I have heard a few of those tracks but not all.
Paul McCartney has said that 'God Only Knows' is the greatest song ever written.
Hi Tom. I'm picking out the cream of my 7-inch singles for this series. There are a lot of dodgy ones I'm leaving out! You can hear a selection of tracks on the Joy Of The Single playlist. Who am I to argue with Paul McCartney.
Great Super Furry Animals singles Carl. I am as very evident in my videos, a huge SFA fan. Don’t have those two mind.
Great and interesting bunch there 😊
Hi Morten. Super Furry Animals were such a great band. If you don't know the Yum Yums, they are well worth a listen; one of my favourite Norwegian bands. All the best.
Hi Carl, When Brian Wllson decided to step down from touring with The Beach Boys, his replacement on bass guitar was Glen Campbell at least for a short while until Bruce Johnson was brought in on a permanent basis. This is why a lot of the band photos around this time (particularly those taken whilst on tour) don't include Brian as per the God Only Knows EP cover.
Also loved the Mary Weiss item.
Another entertaining video,Cheers Ian
Hi Ian. I hope you're keeping well. At least Brian is on the cover of 'Pet Sounds'. Have you ever seen any photos of the Beach Boys with Glen Campbell? I don't think I have ... It was very sad to hear of the passing of Mary Weiss. I always hoped she'd eventually do a follow up album to 'Dangerous Game'. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers.
short and sweet like 7" singles. They are just so fun and take up less listening time. I got given a load though not shown yet I did just post a new finds video last night. Are you struggling to watch England too? Southgate is outta date. Too slow and unbalanced team. Let's see if the slow start has helped.
Hi Martin. Slightly shorter than I wanted due to a cock-up with the editing ... I always like seeing your finds videos; I noticed the latest one popping up in my notifications this morning. I'll give a proper viewing in the next couple of days when I've got time ... I'm not a football fan, although I do follow England in the big tournaments. Apart from the first half in the first game, they've been unbelievably bad.
