My Chase 2025 Wish List | Make the Sapphire Reserve even Better
So I've decided to be a little more realistic with my asks for Chase from 2025. I'm focusing them on the Sapphire Reserve because it got a lot of love in 2024 and deserves more. I don't think Freedom updates are coming in 2025, so I decided to ditch those, though they would be welcome! So, let's get into my wishlist.

On an ACAT transfer, there are sweeps for interest / dividends and cost basis info that shows up later. I think it's at least 30 days until you can pull it out, 60 seems reasonable. The initial ACAT needs to settle first before you can pull it out. I wouldn't if I were you, due to all the work you went through to set up the account, unless you need to sell specific shares in the account. Possibly you could call before the sold shares settle and have them update the cost basis of what was sold (not sure if that would work, but could save you a $25 broker assist fee if it does). Multiple brokerages may be the optimal option, though I have not been able to choose specific shares to transfer out before, but you can choose FIFO or LIFO depending on your original broker. Just park the oldest stuff in USB.
All you had to do was wait 1 day and then you could have done the asset transfer online just like any other brokerage. Your account wasn't officially open until an overnight cycle.
@musiclistener211 The online transfer option continued to produce an error on my account until closer to the card launch in November. Even there it generates a PDF that gets sent in and you can grab a copy, but there is no progress tracking for that request available via the self-directed portal.
Great job on TH-cam ♥️ merry Christmas ❤❤❤
I wish Chase would drop the AU fee on the CSR. I went with VX because of this
Getting a hotel loyalty through a portal would be great! That's my biggest gripe with portals is that I'm using a night, but not getting credit for it. I'm not sure why, but I can get status when the travel agent at work books a hotel, but I cannot when I book through a travel portal.
Chase CSP needs to match multipliers of the Citi CSP. Then CSR needs to match that and add more to justify the AF without lounges and without inflated prices and inflated 1.5 Portal Bookings. I feel like if I'm paying that high fee - I need a point-earning machine like the Gold.
Amen. Make the CSR 4x dining and travel and throw on a Starbucks credit. Card instantly becomes an absolute monster.
Did you hear about Venture x nirfing plaza premium? because priority pass already gives? so it is not quite a nif I he
Yeah, it losses *some* lounges, but not as bad without the soft landing of the Priority Pass coverage.
Why would u want a sapphire reserve and preferred at the same time? They over lap on like 90% of things? Am I missing something.
If they updated the Preferred with Grocery instead of online Grocery, that’d be enough. Right now there’s no reason to drop the one Sapphire. But changes could make it a consideration. Very low on my wishlist.
Really want a revamp of the WoH card. In regards to the Sapphire Reserve, not sure if they would ever make it “better”since Chase Project Emerald/Palm apparently has new products coming very soon that would stand above the Sapphire & below the JP Morgan Reserve.
A WoH refresh would be sweet. Project Emerald/Palm is vaporware until it’s not though. They need to make the Sapphire Reserve a card to get. But Emerald/Palm would also have downstream effects too.
Do you think there’s any chance that Chase, or any other card based portal, would implement their own loyalty program? Similar to what Expedia does? Such as stay 10 nights, you get gold status, which gets you things like free breakfast, free, parking, etc. at hotels that are willing to play along. Probably mostly smaller. Independent hotels. 🎄🤷♂️🤷♂️ Basically make your own rewards program to fit people like us who don’t travel enough to earn status with Hilton or Hyatt, but we still want something more satisfying than just Expedia or Travelocity.
I think if there’s an issuer that *Could* do it, it would be Chase given they own their travel platform. It could be a way to delve into travel more.
I missed the 10x SUB last year for the CFF for up to $12k spend on groceries for 12 months. And I missed the unlimited double points SUB for the CFU last year. Damn, 5/24!!!!
Yeah I skipped over the Flex and missed on the Unlimited. But I will be looking for that Unlimited offer again.
I would love them to add a lounge in Newark and Tampa. I fly mostly out of Philly but once year I fly from Newark and that is a lounge desert.
Sooooo many United Lounges. But, yeah. I would love to see them get into United Clubs.
@ Amex is getting a lounge in Newark in 2026 but if we could either get access to United club there through the reserve I would make that my primary travel card. I was an AU for the platty on my nephews card (military so no fee) but now that ungrateful turd is using the AU for his wife. I got a bit spoiled going to lounges while waiting for flights. While I like Amex for the points is generates me I can’t deal with all those credits. Come on chase!!!
Hoping the CSR does get better going forward!!! Thanks for the info + video!
I hope so...and I didn't even ask for crazy things!
Don’t plan on it. Chase ceo loathes the card.
Come again: www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/01/18/jamie-dimon-i-wish-chase-sapphire-reserve-cost-jpmorgan-more-money.html
I’d like to defend the honor of the Hyatt Business Card, it is a true business card that requires you to put spend on it to get a return out of it. The WoH consumer card is a keeper card for most people with the AF earning you a free night and it’s good for putting your Hyatt charges on. I’d like the luxury WoH card to follow the Aeroplan card’s blueprint.
You're right on the WoH Biz card, it is a legit Business Card and the return can be awesome, especially if you're able to spend to Globalist (and it's true Globalist). I did exaggerate the chart some, but the category cycling is a bit of a worry. It's a fine card for Hyatt charging and then....the Ink Cash + Sapphire to cover everything else. A Luxury WoH Card that was like the Aeroplan would be awesome.
If they just make a dedicated grocery multiplier, I'll be happy. I'll take even 2X. Not going to happen. Chase isn't going to change anything lol
Yeah, part of why I didn’t do categories or the Freedoms/Sapphire Preferred.
I don’t even think it’s a wish list, I think they have to make it better or it’s going to get out classed in every way.
They have made some improvements for sure; but yeah, I see where that’s coming from.

Did 100k spend with Amex this year. Came out with about 600k points. Would do anything except not get a bonus to get the Amex personal gold. Did more spend with chase but still unsure who I like more.
Not shabby at all. I guess it depends on partners.
yeah idk change the shirt doesnt look good

Amex frustrations - acceptance rate still low with no improvement on the horizon, overseas transaction fees, the coupon books to justify their crazy fees, and the ultimate one - the financial review horror stories while people are mid trip
The last one sounds personal…
@ not personal myself, but it’s happened to people I know and I’ve heard stories. They were trapped in Europe after Amex f’ed them. Customer service wouldn’t do anything. I’m that alone is why I’ll never give Amex business
Thanks! 😊
Thank you!
Funny. I kept getting mailers for the Fidelity card, but never wanted to pull the trigger on it. Nice changes on it.
It’s a really good card that got EVEN better
Good guest. Amex will release a MR consumer credit card. Maybe 2x everything $100 af. But asking waaaay to much for $0 af 4x to 6x card (the convert blue cards to MR earning idea). And lots of ppl like Amex cb cards. Esp small biz owners.
I would assume something like 5 MRD cents becomes 2-4 MR points so the math maths a little better. There's gotta be a way, but, certainly makes sense to question the math some. But something needs to replace the Everyday Preferred.
Green card with 4X gas/EV charging Would be a game changer for Amex
Even 3x Gas/EV would be amazing. But yeah 4x uncapped would be great
Great convo guys. Happy holidays!
Thanks! This was a fun one.
I’m frustrated with their co branded cards too.. Hilton just announced they are devaluing their points structure again.
The deval isn't great...but devals happen all the time.
Sometimes makes we wanna switch over to team Cash back
Good conversation from your guest.
Thanks! Yeah @doyoutakecards is awesome. I like to just present the question and wait it out.
Geography is an incredibly important factor here. Living in Manhattan without a car, gas/ev would be a useless category on any of AMEX cards. Uber is a part of life, and almost all restaurants in the city are on Resy, and you cannot avoid Dunkin. Dont eat or drink. DD, but use the credit to buy donuts for the office
it’s not that serious. Ppl just want to be upset about everything. Gold card and MANY MANY other issuers’ cards aren’t for everyone. The CSR is one or the worst cards with an annual fee. I don’t see 10% of the ire as gold get.
Geography is going to dictate a lot of habits and Travel partners. so that definitely makes sense.
Great video guys and thank you, but the Gold card and Blue Business card has my MR points balance shooting up faster than the national debt. I'm a happy customer.
Oh, the premium cards do some work, don't get me wrong. But it would help to have downgrade paths for less than a minimum of $150
Last year I had 8 actively used cards, next year I'll be down to 4. My enthusiasm is down to the Hilton Aspire and Surpass. Maybe if I had gone into expert mode, but I'd rather go the easy route with AS/AA.
Makes sense. There's other plays I'm making, but I can see that.
I got approved for the Amex platinum yesterday but without the bonus due to pop up jail. Still except the card with out the bonus offer.
No sub? When was last time u had the card?
This can happen, but you can drive a ton of value, and play the upgrade/downgrade game to trigger upgrde offers.
Ha I’ve always said Amex is the Apple of the cc world
It does make a lot of sense.
10k rent day was unsustainable and loop hole too many exploited. I'm not a renter and BILT is still my go to card @ 12x dining, 4x travel, 2x catch all with Platinum status. Everything else is gravy. BILT has overtaken UR and MR as my #1 ecosystem. And with the prior CEO of Amex now the chairman at BILT, I'm all in!
10k per rent day was unsustainable for sure, but the cut to 1k was a little severe. That was a LOT. But Mortgage will help a lot.
I am glad you mentioned the Fidelity disaster. I am still on a 23 day hold for any funds deposited. I have tried every deposit method. I ended up paying large credit card interest. This was a pretty epic fail in communications. I worked for them for over 20 years and still cannot excuse what they did.
CSR ... got access to several Maple Leaf Lounges .... but not Montreal ???? 🙄😵💫🧐
Yeah, I still don't get that one. I assume it's a Quebec issue. Or they add it later.
Dining: Chase Sapphire Pref., Grocery: Amex Gold, Gas: Citi Custom Cash, Rent/Utilities: Bilt, Catch-all: U.S. Bank Smartly and Hotel: Hilton Surpass will be my core set up for 2025. Just farming all year, might dabble in some chase biz cards but we will see!
This works. I'd love to find a wholesale card and switch to wholesale completely.
haircut
Yeah, this needed to happen.
I’m so sick of Amex. I still have to grab the Plat sub and probably end up downgrading to the Gold for one year as I wouldn’t be able to get the points out that fast. But believe me, I wont be a long term customer and I can’t wait to be officially done with them.
Yeah, that makes sense. They can do what they want. It’ll be on customers to respond. So far it’s working for them.
@@MattClausenI know exactly their target audience. Boomers who use the Plat for everything or the Gold for everything. And of course they don’t care about the credits at all!
Then u even bothering with Amex? Why not collect WF or Citi subs?? Even Chase? U look like a 🤡 with ur rage posts. 😂

When was this supposed to happen??? We’re a week away from 2025 at this point…
Wasn’t *supposed to* but if it were going to, I woulda thought in July when they changed the Marriott Bold. So. Yeah, this didn’t happen.
How would you compare the Citi Strata Premier vs Capital One Savor? Aren't they pretty similar? Happy Holidays! 😊
Happy Holidays! So both are largely similar, the differences are small but consequential. The Strata Premier has direct access to transfer partners while the Savor doesn't. The Savor has to be paired with the Venture One, Venture or Venture X to move the cash back over to the travel card in order to be used with Transfer partners. If Transfer partners aren't a major consideration or you use your cash-back for point purchasing in a preferred system, then the only real difference is gas/ev and limited Travel vs entertainment and Capital One's Portal. Both good cards, but neither perfect.
Great info!!! Thanks, It is nice hearing you two bounce ideas off of and feeding on each other.
Yeah, Lani’s great to bounce Bilt stuff with.
I’d be content with Bilt once the mortgage comes online and if the card became a good CFU replacement
Yeah, it’s a strong card and Mortgage will be crazy
