Looking forward to the merger. My oldest card is the discover it chrome and it basically gets no use outside of 1 coffee purchase every 6ish months just to keep the account open. Maybe all discover credit cards gets converted into a C1 5x rotating category card?
I like the authenticity of your background. I think it helps you by tending to portray you as an impartial commentator, rather than a sensationalist or corporate shill. That said, the flashier/more produced-looking guys in this milieu also produce some good content. It's like you're doing the podcast produced in a living room compared to KillTony at Madison Square Garden.
Thank you, I've always been a little self-conscious about it, but rather just get the content out there and figure out improvements later. Trying to find the balance is hard. But appreciate your take.
Would be cool if you could covert the cash back from discover cards to c1 miles after the merger so c1 has a card to rival the freedom flex and maybe ( unlikely) but maybe push Chase to step up there game
I’m ready to move credit lines around and close the Discover cards except my first Discover card. I will make myself a 10K cl on my Venture card and gladly accept the Venture X upgrade when it is offered to me. Venture X isn’t an option for me due to my large credit profile so an upgrade will be just fine.
$10 says capital one will start selling the debt in the market for discover cards and they start bucketing the discover cards in the future. Will just service the debt like they do on their cards
Maybe Capital One bought discover to use it as a payment Network like American Express. I can see them changing everything to a discover card like the Capital One savor on the discover Network but of course leave The venture X as a Visa infinite.
That’s the big reason for it I’m sure. But what cards end up where will be interesting. Before a Savor moves to Discover though, they’ll need to seriously expand it.
I bet Capital One will nerf Discover It, they don't like loss leaders. On the opposite end, I would happily take a Venture X or Spark under Discover processing for 2.2X / 2.2%.
Am not gonna lie I have both the discover it cash back and the capital one quicksilver. Both companies I’d say have great customer service. But discover customer service is undefeated

The (not-so-subtle) hinting at 4:21 haha ... great update Matt, excited to see how this plays out.
I had to say it without saying it.
Great job on TH-cam ♥️
Thanks as always Vicki!
Thanks for the info + video!
Thanks as always Jimmy!
Thanks! 😊
Thank you!
The new Capital One Trifecta would probably be:
Venture X
Savor
Discover it
😂
Certainly possible. Don’t know that I love it. But. We’ll see
Thanks for the news
Thank you for watching!
Nice overview Matt!
Thank you!

I doubt all, but possibly the IT…we’ll just have to see
They did this over the holidays so that no one (congress especially) would notice..
The Last Congress, and this Congress won't do anything here.
Have checking and CC with both. Let's see
Exactly. We’ll see what happens

This too.

I want to see what happens with my checking and savings accounts at both banks
Oh, that’s a solid Question
I have the same thing.
Would be cool if you could covert the cash back from discover cards to c1 miles after the merger so c1 has a card to rival the freedom flex and maybe ( unlikely) but maybe push Chase to step up there game
I’d love to see a push against Chase. But I will think rotating cards aren’t worth the squeeze.

We’ll see what they end up allowing and what they can do with visa and Mastercard. But it shouldn’t be an issue.

Leave the man’s background alone!
This!!!! 💪

I can definitely see this happening.

They do. But mergers cause redundancy, and that could lead to a lot of folks leaving.
