You made a major mistake when you said that Wolf point is the headquarters for the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. The headquarters is located in Poplar which in about 22 miles East of Wolf Point on Hwy 2. You also could have gone North from Glendive through Sydney and then to Culbertson on Hiway2 then East as you did.

Generally you can choose between not being able to afford housing and having a good paying job or affordable housing and low paying jobs, but in Montana you get low paying job and unaffordable housing. We have one of the highest percentages of alcoholics in the nation and worst weather ,. And it's not the number of days per year that it is not above 45 degrees outside, it's the number of hours per year that it's below 45, while the high might be 55 degrees for the day, it's 15 when you wake up and only reach above 45 for a couple hour before the sun sets early cause there is only 6 hours of daylight in the winter. So if you enjoy being outside or watching the sun set it will be too cold most of the year, so people drink because they are to broke to leave. We had the 45 the worst economy but a bunch of Uber rich people moved here but it through off the average and just made the poor poorer

The SAC base would have been huge In upstate NY we had a SAC base and another one up in Plattsburgh and there are many underground complexes designed to survive a nuclear strike. They also had C130 or something like that and they were massive cargo planes The coolest part was all the underground bunkers The government sold the Alternative Backup Radar Bunker and when the reporters did a story on that site they talked with the farmers that had lived on the road when it was originally built back in the fifties and they said how could you not know this was here and they all said we knew it was there because the government came and talked to us when they started building and digging out this massive hole in the ground and told us never to say anything to anyone about it But there are still the primary radar bunker and the alternate primary radar bunker and the backup radar bunker that are still classified and no one knows exactly where those are even though the base was decommissioned

The Amtrak Empire Builder rolls right along Highway 2 eastbound after it leaves Glacier Park. Miles and miles of fields, prairies and wheat fields, dotted infrequently with tiny, dying towns. I always wonder what life would be like in these towns.

Montana is very liberal compared to Idaho. I hate the way Montana lets a small property owner lock out people from many of the federal lands it does have.
