I couldn’t agree more with your original statement four years ago. I moved here just over a year ago from Utah specifically because of all the Californians that moved to my city and slowly started to ruin it over the last 20 years. They flee terribly run states like California and they bring over their same failed policies. I pray they don’t do the same thing here.

We’ve been here 25 years. Love it. Not planning to ever leave. Guess I’m not considered a local either.

Technically you are a ‘local’ by definition. All it takes to be one is to be an inhabitant of wherever it is you’re living.
It’s only adults who haven’t fully emotionally matured that are concerned with others identifying as ‘locals’ when they don’t ’feel’ they should based on some ridiculous criteria bored small towners came up with 😅

Hey Will, I saw some news over the weekend about a well know resort investment group proposing a resort with 300 homes in the Lakeside area. Apparently it would be located next to the Lakeside airport. Reminds me of that song - They paved paradise and they put up a parking lot.

Stopped in Cut Bank for some eats, cold enough to freeze the balls of a pawnshop hanger, wind blowing hard enough to move bricks, Two troopers come in wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts. I asked one if there was a motel nearby he said, there’s one couple miles down the road but you probably won’t have tires and wheels in the morning go on to Glasgow...Fond memories of Montana.

Lewistown native. My mom’s grandfather came in 1903 to be a farmer/rancher and old fashioned type Dr. So thankful for the beautiful ranch I grew up on. Best times we’re moving cows in a two day cattle drive to summer range near the Snowy Mtns at 6000 ft.

Montana is beautiful. The home value increase reminds me of Texas and Hawaii. Both suffered increased in housing values. At the end of the day, it boils down to economics. Sad but true.

Thank you for the great video! That is so sad about the people working in town having to camp out on the side of the road! Not having a place to live due to the housing prices is crazy!

Recently visited Jackson Hole. ALL of the waitstaff and shop employees were foreigners here on student visas. I’m told they are housed in large dormitories. It was a little bizarre but that’s what’s going to happen in Whitefish, if it hasn’t happened already.

We moved from Alaska and seemed to be welcomed by locals. Folks from California, Washington, east coast seem to be less welcomed by locals because they seem to have different values with respect to firearms, hunting, ranching, etc.

Great video! Y’all need to primary the people in the state legislature that did nothing to help folks with the high property taxes. What’s the participation rate in primaries up there? We like to blame politicians all the time, but what it boils down to is that we have a PEOPLE problem (as in the general population). No one is paying attention until it’s too late.

My understanding with Gianforte was that there was an easement, but the easement was in the wrong spot. He couldn't simply move it; he had to do it the legal way and go to court to have it moved. The Plaintiff and the respondents were all in agreement that the road was not on the easement. The judge then put out an order to move the easement. Everyone left happy. However, there were issues with his wife thinking she owned land below the high water mark, but that was unrelated to the easement situation. Please let me know if I'm off track on that one.

Love to visit and are fortunate to have family to stay with. Pockets aren't deep enough. Appreciate the problems high prices are causing for those looking for employees. One question i have is when a property is sold is the price the new appraisal? Here in Iowa the sale price becomes the new assessment. So your tax can double depending on the sale. 😢

The beauty of this country is the freedom to move wherever you’d like and to live within the rights we have as Americans.
It’s unfortunate that some folk feel entitled to tell others what they can or can’t do.

The wife and I are looking to move our family to NW Montana, during my visit I truely loved the care free atmosphere and warm hospitality of those in the small town I was at, I mean when you run archery and fishing programs in the school with home cooked meals for the children it's the kind of place I want to raise my kids. Ohio is horrible and has become a real eye sore, farms that stood for 100 years or better gone only to be replaced with housing developments, every yard has some sort of political sign different from their neighbors only creating riffs in the neighborhoods, last but not least I drove forestry roads all dirt and rock out there that are better than paved roads where I'm at now. Anybody that wants to tote along the baggage they're running from need a wellness check at the looney bin, truely absurd.

The Whitefish issue has been around forever, at least since I’ve been here 1990. They had talked about doing something, but that never happened until it became a big problem. The same problem in Big Sky, but they started building apartments to deal with it before the pandemic occurred. So they were a little ahead of the game there. Bozeman, you just can’t afford to live there on minimum wage.
Also our dear Governor also took the additional 3%tax on Recreational Marijuana that the voters voted to put to use in their own county’s in the State General Fund….. 😡🤑🤑
    I’m not a local either, I did marry a 4th generation Montanan tho. 😊
    Good video.
PS: I was driving around the Flathead a couple of weeks ago and was totally shocked at all the building that is going on !!! 😮 Sad 😔

Hey man, I love these videos! I do have a question. I have a handyman business in Arizona where I live and I make great money and I’m busy always. My wife and I have been kicking around the idea of moving to Kalispell/whitefish area and I’m curious if there is a need for handyman type work. I have 18+ years experience so I definitely know what I’m doing. I would love to get your feedback?

Healthy skepticism of government is always a good thing. There's a weird tendency today for people to practically worship the ground certain politicians walk on, and treat them like superheroes. That's all I'm going to say on that.
    Thanks for the video.

It's sad to see what our country is turning into. It seems like everywhere you look here in Texas there is an existing RV park or their building one. Some of the RV parks are pretty nice but most of them are full of junk rv trailers, motorhomes and full of criminal activities. We're well on the way to become just another 3rd world country 😔

I noticed that there is a lot of land for sale in your state. the fact that it is too expensive for a wage worker is a delema that many states and provinces are facing. older homes are being torn down to accomidate rentals that are out of reach for the average person. I have known many people on assistance and they are packed into shared housing and told that if they can walk they can work but the job market is only available to twenty year olds with college or university degrees. I have many tickets for safety and food safe but cannot even get a job as a dishwasher because I have no sponser to keep me employed, this is an immigrant thing. schools do not educate for the job market, lower iq people are prefered, Yes I lost a job for being too smart and having too much experience. I just wanted a job but no one would hire me, too old. I cannot change the fact that I was born to a different mind set as a person from a previous generation. I have worked since my eighth birthday but now I am no longer wanted. Is there a video about the differnt tax bases for ranchers compared to farmers, I will not pay for something that will not pay me back.

Well, I grew up here in the Northwest, raised livestock, cut wood, built fence, fix cars and more. Now living outside the socialist republic of Seattle... don't fit in here either. I work here because it pays good, but share virtually nothing in common. I haven't voted for a winning candidate in 25 years.
