We spent the winter of 23 in the woods near Eureka. Got around pretty good with front wheel drive. Now have 4 wheel drive so let it snow. The road crews up there do an excellent job. 😊 I also find driving less than 70 on snowy roads is a good idea.
I am getting transferred to Bozeman for work in the middle of winter from Southern California and your video has been one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen so far, thank you and I promise to heed your advice
We moved to Montana from Atlanta in 1996. We purchased 8 acres up a dead end road. I was laying out my house footprint design and a friend, who was a commercial construction company owner, asked me what my “snow plan” was. I said, “what are you talking about”? “Well you’re going to get several feet of snow, so you better have a plan about where you’re going to put it”. He was so right, and our plan worked for the next 24 years. We had 100 yards of driveway, so a snow blower or shovel wouldn’t do the job. Needed a 4 wheeler and a plow.
Good morning from Lone Grove Oklahoma my friend. Thanks for standing out in the cold and giving us the information about winter time in your beautiful state. Have a blessed day.
My drem is too move too Montana, I have watched all your videos, and still have my heart set on it! I'm originally from the northern east coast, so I love the snow!!
Lmao😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂, Thank you. We repeatedly say that here in Bigfork, MT. We also have to scratch our heads at people's speed on ice. Of course ICE wins. Lol. My cousin is in Whitefish and the highway is littered with SUV accidents or underpowered cars with bad tires. It is bewildering.
If you live here in Montana you want to make sure that you have two sources of heating for your home. Such as either electricity or propane because of the weather conditions can close roads and freeze harshly. If you can afford it a propane generator would be awesome. Use kitty litter a lot for your icy areas around your home. Have your thermostat at least at 70° not 65 like these people say you should have because you get down into the negative teens it's going to freeze your pipes. If you have problems with your home having snow building up on your roof make sure your insulation is adequate enough to be able to keep it heated if it melts off too fast that means you have no insulation. Always have your vehicle stuffed with a first aid kit, a warm blanket, a grain shovel, jumper cables, towe rope/ chains, some water & food in while you're traveling during the winter if you're going on long trips. Always have your phone charged as well as maybe even a CB radio if you live in an area where your reception is bad in case you need help. Always take off the garden hoses before it gets cold because it acts like a cork that will turn your water pipes into Elmer Fudd's gun as far as breaking. You also have to make sure you know a little bit about You're homes plumbing in case there is a really cold night and that you can't get a hold of a plumber you need to be able to shut off your water. If you live over 10 mi away from any town you might want to make sure you double up on the amount of food that you normally take from the store or any items that are essential because you may not be able to get there for a few days if you get snowed in. Most people that live outside of towns have like two freezers and two refrigerators to keep food stores during the winter. You can use the outside as a freezer too if you want to but you have to make sure you either have a bear proof container or you put in a vehicle or have another building to put it in.
Yeah there's a story I can't remember where but there was a couple that moved to Montana and after 6 months they were found in their home the wife had died but the husband was still alive with a handful of bouillon cubes to keep him alive. It's like when they get you your taxes or any kind of official paperwork they need to make you take a course on how to live in Montana if you're going to live in certain areas like off the grid locations or forestry areas.
I am from Norway and I have lived in Montana for 27 years, and winters in Montana are a breeze compared to where I come from.

From a Midwesterner, the moral of this video is:
You move out into the country, your on your own! You better have a plan!
This is extremely good information. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Wait, my Prius with CA plates and All Season tires is a bad idea?

Terrific info, thank you! ❄️
Glad it was helpful!
You're standing in the snow recording a video. You da real MVP 😂👏🙌
MVP or crazy? Can't wait to get down there!
Thanks, Will! Great and very helpful, as always!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, hope the winters discourages them from moving here😂
I moved from Alabama to East Glacier. It was an adjustment but I made it. Folks helped me. I used all season with my Jeep
Thanks for the info!
I'm from Alberta, so I'm familiar with winter. It can get very cold. Cheers, Will!
Having been born and raised in Montana, I can confirm.
Awesome thank you
Our pleasure!
Worst part of living in NW Montana is not the cold or the snow in my opinion. It’s the endless days of no sunshine. Ruthless!
Yup thanks for info!!!
No problem 👍
So no winter motorcycle rides?
Is Beutiful Snow🌧️⛄️
Beautiful

This is a normal thing here in Alberta every winter, love my 4x4 truck.

I am from the snow capital of Norway, Will, so this is no problem for me. In 1997 we had 8 feet of snow as late as April 29th.
Frozen SEWER pipes.... rut-row
Not fun!
Knock down the icicles when they are small if at all possible.
WE ARE PENN STATE!
We Are!
What are the building requirements for homes built underground. Using nature as an insulation.
If your sewer pipes freeze, you can just go in the woods, like the Bears do.
Yes you can!
Seen tractor systems for 4 wheel drive vehicles. What local company sells these items.
Montana is so overrated, don't move here!
How about all you in town people move out
You need to move somewhere else and then move back to realize.Just how freaking beautiful montana really is and how SPECIAL.....
IT IS !!
@@lindadupre7191it’s satire to keep Montana free of idiots and overcrowding 😅
A shovel lmao
Don't move to Montana on purpose, it sucks here
Sure this must be the people with heated garage. Try talking to ranchers. The real people
Don’t move here. It’s awful.
Amazing beautiful place
Very creative way to end the video with a Christmas card. Cheers! 🎄
Thank you very much!
