      @loragunning5394 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I lived in western Washington for almost 40 years and in King County for over 20 and can tell you that what you posted above is not in any way true. What IS true is that the higher population of western Washington does dominate as blue, which angers and annoys voters in eastern Washington, who tend to be much more conservative in their political views. Given that almost 70% of Washington State's voting population reside in western Washington, they do indeed make Washington a blue state and it has been consistently dark blue for many decades. The state hasn't had a Republican governor since John Spellman, who left office in 1985, and both the state Senate and state House of Representatives have been also consistently Democrat dominated since before Spellman was governor. If you take the time to look back over the voting records of each Washington State county over the past 40-50 years, you'll find that ALL the counties of western Washington have usually voted blue, while all the counties of eastern Washington have usually voted red. As a long time Washington State resident, who loves my home state deeply, I sincerely sympathize with the eastern state voters who feel so powerless to influence their state's government due to their lack of population. But our democracy is built fundamentally on the will of ALL the people and as such, areas of population density will always have more influence over government than areas of low population density.
      It's not just King County, it's pretty much all of western Washington. That's why so many folks in eastern Washington want to secede from the state and become a state of their own. And all I can say is, good luck with that. That idea has been floating around without gaining serious traction since the 70's.

    Great video!
    It's interesting seeing in-city property price comparisons. We were looking at Kila / Marion outside of Kalispell and Spirit Lake / Sagle / Priest River outside of Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint. It looks like the numbers flip, with like properties in rural ID being about 10% less than MT, possibly even more when you compare like-to-like of property size, home size, building age, finishes, etc. With the homes on our shortlist, it seemed like acreage lots (5+) carried a significant premium on the MT side when we were looking.
    If one treats the Bitterroot as sort of the Bonner's Ferry / Priest River equivalent, we were seeing a similar pattern.

    Thank you Will for mentioning the eastern oregon joining Idaho movement. As a southeastern Idahoan I have seen this movement grew from the beginning. I agree with you they have a hurdle to go through with th US congress before anything happens. So far Idaho politicians had greenlighted the movement and is waiting to talk to oregon politicians on a state level.

    ID has never been as red as people think it is. It has very strong EPA & wildlife laws, heavy handed law enforcement, hell the speed limit for I90 is 55 mph most of the way across ID, all the things you see in WA.
    Montana is hard to explain the politics, we have pockets of purple & blue mainly in the westside of the state & reservations, but our laws are very conservative, our EPA & wildlife regulation are also very conservative & our law enforcement isn't really that heavy handed. Most of us look at government as a necessary evil, that needs to be strongly handcuffed, specially after covid crap. That being said, we have a lot of tree huggers that go around causing problems every time someone wants to cut a tree down, build something, hunt or fish, extra.
    But overall MT is pro firearms, pro religion, pro parents, pro property rights, pro individual inalienable rights. if I had to chose 1 word to describe MT, Constitutionalist

    Generally you can choose between not being able to afford housing and having a good paying job or affordable housing and low paying jobs, but in Montana you get low paying job and unaffordable housing. We have one of the highest percentages of alcoholics in the nation and worst weather ,. And it's not the number of days per year that it is not above 45 degrees outside, it's the number of hours per year that it's below 45, while the high might be 55 degrees for the day, it's 15 when you wake up and only reach above 45 for a couple hour before the sun sets early cause there is only 6 hours of daylight in the winter. So if you enjoy being outside or watching the sun set it will be too cold most of the year, so people drink because they are to broke to leave. We had the 45 the worst economy but a bunch of Uber rich people moved here but it through off the average and just made the poor poorer

    Unfortunately Missoula is ranked #6 in the 10 worst drug cities in the USA. I'll bet you can blame that on being a college/colleges town. So much for higher learning. Oregon suffers from that a lot a Univ. or College in your town is not such a good thing as it turns out and Helena is about as woke as it gets, been there and it has a SF Cal. vibe to it which I don't personally consider that a good thing. I love Montana but it ain't perfect either.

    It''s true that Boise is pretty liberal in comparison to the rest of the state.
    But the surrounding cities of Meridian, Nampa and Caldwell are still very conservative.
    They more than make up for any Democrat votes that Boise might cast.

    Thank you for pointing out the issue with Eastern Oregon and Idaho. While I can understand the frustration of people in Eastern Oregon, joining Idaho wouldn't make much of a difference if Boise continues to grow and its politics end up dominating Idaho. As someone from the Eastern US, one thing I've noticed about the Western states is that they're often dominated, politically, by one county because that's where most of the people live. Populations aren't quite as spread out as they are over here in the East.

    • @jedwin4816

      If I'm not mistaken I'm sure I've read that the current population of Boise is staying about even or maybe even shrinking a little while the surrounding cities are growing fast in population. If this is true it's unlikely Boise will dominate the vote like Portland does in OR anytime soon.
