Maybe it’s just because I’ve always received a lot of approaches from men, but I always seen men’s approach as a way to initially vet, because the social skills of a man who approaches me have to meet certain criteria that few seem capable of passing. The way I look at it, I can initially vet a man by noticing both how he approaches me, but also if he seeks interest and consent from me before he flirts. If a man flirts with me just because he thinks I’m attractive, but isn’t looking for my interest and consent first before initiating that kind of interaction, then I know he’s not really paying attention to what I want and is more focused on what he wants. I will only date men who have the social skills to look for my consent before any kind of suggestive behavior. If he can’t just approach me like a person and talk to me like a person, before seeing if I’m open to some flirting, then he sees women as conquests for his desire, not persons whom may or may not connect with him. This isn’t the only vetting strategy I employ, but it’s certainly one of the first ones. That doesn’t mean I can’t advocate for myself if I see someone attractive, but similarly I would be looking for both their interest in me, and their social skills in seeking my consent and interest. A man who is flirty or sexual with me right away and assumes that I would be open to that without looking for my consent first is going to be eliminated whether or not I find him attractive.

You can’t renew your passport in person. It has to be done by mail. It’s been that way over a year. They literally can’t do it at the passport office. That’s for first time passports only, no exceptions.
