He would spend $500 taking himself to fancy dinners with me in tow, but would get screaming mad if I asked him to cover the $35 water bill if I cover the $40 trash and sewage bill. The moment they change these laws as well as the child support laws women that want to leave their husbands need to give them sole custody of the children as well. The money that they think they are saving will cost them more in the long run. These laws are being changed to try to stop women from leaving and punish them if they do. But women have full autonomy over their lives and they can and will walk away from these men, handing over the responsibility of raising their kids to their father. Watch how fast men change their attitude when they suddenly become the main child carer. I am not married, nor do I have kids. If I ever find myself in this position, I am becoming the part time parent. I couldn’t care less about judgment. I refuse to be the struggling single mother while he lives like he is a single child free man. This is a good thing. One way or another men will learn.

    • @wolfsisterhowls
      @wolfsisterhowls 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +30

      I think a lot of the people who judge this perspective struggle with the idea of making the children collateral damage (terrible husbands are rarely good fathers). Their perspective is that the choice to bring children into this world comes with the implicit knowledge that your needs will never supercede theirs. This is one of the many reasons I don't have children (I agree that motherhood comes with the expectation to always put your children's needs your own and I don't have any interest in ever doing that, it sounds like a psychological thriller plot).
      Having said that, I think women need to start accepting that we might temporarily have to just be the bad guy. Is it GOOD to leave children in potentially unsafe situations? No. But be the bad guy and accept the villain role. It will only take a single generation of women doing this for men to experience the TRUE responsibilities of parenthood. It will only take a single generation of women undergoing the therapy to overcome the guilt. But in that generation: parenthood (and motherhood specifically) will finally stop being treated as a default setting for women but not for men. Men will start valuing the sacrifice they previously took for granted. Women will start really evaluating if it's even worth it. And the laws will change to reflect this shift. All this nonsense Donnie is trying to enact will disappear under the sheer weight of men finally waking up to their entitlement and children of those men fighting back. And it will be worthwhile for all the children of the future that a single generation took the painful choice to set things to rights.
      But women won't do it because we are so invested in not being the villain. So these men (who don't care) will continue to play in our collective faces 🤷🏿‍♀️

Women clocked out for ONE DAY, completely hands off, went to a rally, and men were fumbling doing childcare, bringing kids to work, easy to prepare sausages were sold out, infrastructure crumbling. But women got their goals met and value appreciated as a result. If women aren't going to put some fire under men's arses they'll never see the hellhole we are expected to live in. Let them see what it's like living life on "easy" mode. Let's see how they like it. Time to be the villains for the sake of better future. No more putting out men's fires so they learn not to make them or deal with them themselves.

    • @forestdaydreams9447
      @forestdaydreams9447 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

      @wolfsisterhowls honestly I'd question that moral obligation in the first place .
      Maybe I'm just selfish , but the expectation that your children's needs will ALWAYS supersede your own seems toxic to me. You cant fill from an empty cup, so if you actually want to be a good parent you need to sometimes put your needs and wants above theirs .
      It can also become toxic to the child. I was raised by a mother where I was her entire life and honestly it made me miserable as a child because it put me essentially "in charge" of the household , because my moods, Wants and desires controlled everyone else's moods and actions. I understood that and it made me feel pressured to be in control at all times so that I wouldn't inadvertently cause a problem for my family .
      I think if it had been made clear to me that I was valued , but a member of a family where everyone's needs are equally valued I'd have been a better adjusted , more balanced person.

      Or spend every week with a stressed out , angry single mother in a worse economic situation whilst occasionally getting some money in a card or a shitty weekend away ?
      The issue is too many women view what's best for the child in terms of her duty , without acknowledging that her children will do better just having her love and attention . Which you'll only be capable of giving if you're happy in yourself .

      @@forestdaydreams9447 you're asking the wrong person because I don't believe in that fantasy.
      I have no interest in bringing a sentient being into this world only to not prioritise that beings needs (not wants) over mine because it's suddenly inconvenient to me after I've already made the choice. I'd rather spare them entirely of existence. But I'm in the minority of women... most women want kids no matter what. And for those women: This is one of the responsibilities of parenthood that I think is actually ethical (to prioritise a child's needs, again NEEDS not wants) over your own since they are wholly and solely dependent upon that level of self sacrifice to survive. But too often that expectation falls on the woman's shoulders without similar expectations from the man, which is why we are in the state of things we are in now. And women have just been going with it, for fear of abandoning their children to a worse fate of leaving them with selfish and statistically violent fathers.
      I say: do it anyway. You may want to protect your child, but it's too late. They're here. And temporarily protecting them means you implicitly comply with continuing the status quo that makes the world unsafe in the long-term. Be the bad guy.
      You seem to be sure that the father will just be emotionally absent but I personally don't have a crystal ball to guarantee that the father won't retaliate against the child (remember: MOST fathers are not rich and living in big homes with child care they can outsource; so the child will be the DIRECT recipient of the frustration you painted in your portrait of the single mother. MOST women are having children with regular or even poor men who wouldn't think twice about lashing out at the child the way your scenario assumes the woman would...and worse. MOST violent crimes happen at the hands of men.)
      That's why I say be willing to be the villain and let the dice fall where it falls for just ONE generation 🤷🏿‍♀️ The assumption that the child will be rich and safe and comfortable and you'll be able to pop in and mend their heart over the weekends is one that is not based in statistical or practical reality. They'll probably be neglected AND abused by their fathers. They'll probably resent you for freeing yourself. But nobody worries about that possibility with absentee fathers until it's time to blame the mother for an adult's life decisions, so let's flip the table. Let's be willing to wash our hands (IF we are willing to have kids at all) when these men switch up after children. Let's be willing to be the bad guys who "abandon" children with their fathers for a single generation and watch the pendulum swing. Is it ethical? Probably not. But it would definitely be effective. Men don't care about the things we say, they only care about the things we DO. They will never adjust the laws to address women's concerns until women force them to be uncomfortable. History shows that. Let's make them uncomfortable and pay for therapy to deal with the ideas/fear/guilt behind how that MAY affect our children.
      Again... it'll never happen but if it did it would end this nonsense QUICK.
      Problem is: most women think that children's safety is solely their responsibility because the world tells us that. Let's put the responsibility in men's hands solely and see how quickly they come to the table. (Edited to add this last bit)

You get treated like a princess the first day of the job (wedding ceremony/reception/presents) and get to take a nice vacation (honeymoon) for a job whose duties are actually cook, nanny, maid, etc. And, you don't get a salary, just room and board. It's a mousetrap. After you get the cheese you get crushed and immobilized. Getting away becomes increasingly difficult and dangerous, not to mention societally condemned. You get trapped with kids, financial blackmail, threats to your life and safety and so on. Big white dress and propaganda that it's "happiest day of our lives" is just lure and bait into being sucked into a black hole of stress, labor, loss of sense of self.

      That man really got to you-still living rent-free in your head.
      When a man gets married, his role is to provide and protect for his family just like a wife role is to care for the family, raise children. But once the marriage ends, those obligation should end to each other and focus on the children as parents. Yet, courts and women seem to think otherwise, forcing men to continue their marital duties for years-sometimes for life.
      Imagine if divorce worked both ways-where you still had to fulfill your relationship duties for years, cooking, cleaning, and even sleeping with your ex till he got married again! Sounds ridiculous, right? Yet, financially, that’s exactly what happens to men. Women need to grow up and get a job just like a man does, women asked for equality so you shall get it. Don't be mad at what you demanded.
      I bet if your marriage worked out and didn't have a job till later on in life, we know you would be far happier talking about how great your life was and you had a great husband with many children. You're just pissy because your fantasy didn't work out the way you wanted. He probably has a new partner and happy as pig in mud. I'm actually curious what his side of the story is.

      @wolfsisterhowls 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lepotdefleur9906 this is a bit of an urban myth. Prenups only get thrown out when they disregard standard practice. So do research and don't let anyone rush or pressure you. It's not hard to find the list of things that make prenups invalid. A few examples:
      -a prenup cannot be signed under duress. Example: a day before the wedding, where there is pressure to sign to avoid embarrassment. Solution: prenup signed and stored a YEAR before the wedding, at minimum. (Edit: this is excellent proof that both parties signed it fully aware, had enough time to consider it over the course of the engagement and pull out or renegotiate if they reconsidered and thus there is no grounds for claiming it was unfair or prejudicial or one party was coerced somehow).
      -a prenup cannot make custody determinations (a lot of women get got here!) The court will always be the final say in the best interests of the child so ensure your lawyer or his doesn't sneak in language about the care and custody of the children. The prenup if for the MARRIAGE.
      -a prenup is solidified if there are terms that get enacted immediately, such as a signing bonus or a scheduled postnup that reaffirms the terms. Signing bonuses are the easiest: if someone agrees to the terms, gets given an upfront payment that they ACCEPT and bank, the court won't look kindly on them trying to act like they don't agree with the terms at the time of divorce. You agreed to the upfront payment so it's clear you were happy with the parts that suited you. therefore the prenup is upheld!" This has an excellent track record legally.
      Do your own research and remember: if you don't have your own prenup, you are accepting the prenup the government GIVES you. And the government does not know nor care about what you have to gain or lose.

    On my block/in my building, I know of FOUR couples in which the husband/live-in boyfriend who is abusive DOESNT WORK/sits at home smoking cigarettes and weed all day. In three of these cases, the wives work 15-hour shifts or have worked full-time while undergoing cancer treatment/other serious illness, just to be able to make ends meet. In one case, the girlfriend is an inheritance recipient and special needs/severely learning disabled/autistic - he was couch surfing and broke when she met him, but she moved him right in and he openly pretends to be successful and rich, while using her money as his retirement plan. Sidenote: all of these couple are white, so this isnt just a Pookie thing.

    I started out a teen mom without a job at 18. Once I got a job all but one of my relationships I had more money. The only one that had more than me was 15 years older than me. I didn't even have a lucrative career throughout most of that, and most men only came close.
    I've never seen a woman walk away from a marriage in better shape than she went in. Except for in tv coverage of super rich people. I've learned since that what appears to be a lucrative divorce for the woman ends up not being that lucrative in the end. The legal bills alone tend to drain away most, if not all, of that woman's gains.
    The amount of times I've heard of the guy just dropping everything, and disappearing without any, or many, repercussions is definitely high though. Women are usually left covering (almost) everything financially for herself and the children.
    Rich men like Trump are pushing these narratives because they tend to get the most notable financial hits during a divorce. They know they actually should be paying it, but don't want to because of greed and ego. They know they can get away with it because even the poorest man likes to pretend he has any money to lose, and will support them.
