Are You Confused About Roguelikes and Roguelites? Here's the Real Difference!
Oh hey I actually played this one before. Best way I can describe it is it's boba. Idk how else to explain it 😂
Fair enough! I will say I was pleasantly surprised by this game!
damn,
Yeah
Have you ever played the game Barony? It's a roguelike dungeon crawler with visuals that are simple but look amazing, lots of classes you can start with that add lots of variety in how you play, and wonderful co-op. The DLC for it also adds races to further increase variety in across runs, along with a new class made specifically for each race. The only thing that I would call an issue is that most of your runs will probably end in the first area of the game, the mines.
I’ve never played it but I have seen it quite a few times! Definitely something to check out on my radar
I’m personally not a huge fan of Hades. Yes, the writing is very strong, and I get that that is what draws in a lot of people. But as someone who loves roguelikes for their variety of gameplay, Hades just doesn’t cut it. Runs feel super same-y very quickly, and it lacks challenge unless you turn on nearly all of the pact, at which point it just becomes really stupid. Like 0 to 10 instantly.
That's fair I know hades wasn't that hard. Windblown definitely give more of a challenge at lets in my opinion. Likewise there is good build variety in Windblown where Hades lacks. That being said there is something to be said where you likely will spam alter attacks and/or trinkets most of the time bit I def think it has more general variety
I have 100% the game and beaten it on every difficulty… I need MOOOORE
Soon soon...we gotta wait for updates
I agree with the points in visuals and gameplay, and the whole point of it being early access. But I have to admit that I felt like I've seen most of the game as it currently stands... though again, early access HAHA. Definitely a game that has so so so much potential, and it is a fun time with friends and good company, so I think the early access already succeeded in gaining friction for itself! I am definitely keeping an eye out on its development, giving me a reason to drag my friends around causing chaos B) Unfortunately, I love Hades to bits, as it also might be personal bias, having played through Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, Hades and even Hades 2. Their forte has always been telling a beautiful story and their narrative (over 20 thousand unique voice lines in Hades...), with Transistor still being hands down my top favourite game out of their collection.
I feel like there is a lot to be expanded especially if we look at it's opening cutscene there is a lot left to be seen so I am super excited. Oh Hades is wonderful like I said when it comes to narrative it's no contest that Hades wins but I really really feel like there will be a good narrative in this game it's just not here yet so I am hoping really hard.
Omg Mom, look I'm on TV! Game fun, everyone in this comment section should play it with a group :) This guy caught our broken ass run where it crashed on footage it's insane. Praise the Gobbling Fish, even if it crashes your run at times.
It couldn't handle all 3 of our gobbler fish
It sure isn't as visually accessible as Hades and I'll bet it's not as audibly accessible either (sound cues, stereo panning, etc.)
This is fair. It can be chaotic visually and audibly but I still think its a good time
New video hype!
Wooo!
The devs have said they will rework the sudden death for coop, if you didnt hear
I did hear! I didn't look too much how they were changing it but I did hear which i was happy to hear
I love the vibe and feel of windblown so much. The definitely needs more of everything(weapons etc.) And a large amount of rebalancing, but that is what it is for early access. Hades, curse of the dead gods, ravenwatch, inkbound, backpack hero, gunfire reborn, and more were missing biomes, end games, charcters, weapons etc and they are all fantastic now.
Exactly my thoughts. This game just barely hit the market and it needs a lot of expansions but given dev responses and how the game feels even in this state. I feel like it will be great.
@roguelikerabbit I think it'll be great but the time it's done. My main two reservations are that I hope they add a lot of lore and story and that they do not pull a helldivers(though it got better) and nerf the things that work and instead buff things.
@@Foxtayls Based on the little intro they have in the game it looks like there will be a lot of lore eventually. And it would be a shame if they nerfed rather than buffed. In these kind of games I think it much better to bring everything up to the same level rather than down
@roguelikerabbit it's a good game so far and I'm looking forward to getting more. I appreciate you replying by the way, it made my day
Same and Im really glad to hear that! Take care friend!
despite the short comings i had with the game, I will admit it does have the potential to be a pretty good one and I'm hoping it ends up being the case. Its a very fun game to play with others!
I have very high hopes for the game. I don't think it will miss. It definitely needs some more expansions and rebalancing but overall its a wonderful experience.
Have you been able to play the demo of the incoming StarVaders? That seems like a promising Space-Invader-inspired deckbuilder!
Not yet I’ll have to look
As far as Roguelikes go, did you ever cover Zet Zillions? And is Immortal: And the Death that Follows on your radar?
No I haven’t seen them! I’ll take a look
I have about 260 runs on Astral Ascent, my favorite character is Octave and I'm beyond impressed with how fun this game is. This is my favorite roguelike and I've played over 10 roguelikes so far. The combat is insanely fun for a 2D game, the buffs are great, the music is FIRE, the lore is really interesting, the bosses are challenging and the builds are INSANE. Every update over the past year or two have been fantastic and they REALLY stay close to the fans in order to see what needs to be fixed, changed, buffed, nerfed, etc. This game deserves 10x the amount of purchases it has already. Even if you're not into 2D games, STILL try this game out because it will change your whole view on 2D games in general. Even the DLC is great since you get a whole new character, spells, lore and more. Plus...THE DLC IS 5 BUCKS. HOW CAN YOU SAY NO? Also, on the 27th of November, they're giving all 5 characters another weapon with passives when we already have 3 for each character with 3 separate passives that you can use on the weapons. Each update has made me comeback to the game and put in another 100 hours at the very minimum and I still haven't tried every build or Aura that I could after many hours put into the game. At the VERY LEAST, this game is a 9/10 due to great music, great combat, great lore, great bosses, great Co-op, great DLCs and even great Devs. We even have another update after the one on the 27th and I'm so psyched for it.
My favorite part of the updates is the Perfected Room... it really adds to the stakes and rewards you for playing well. I'm on Destiny level 30, and still playing daily
suddenly i want to achieve a 'death-speedrun' in that game
You come out with these videos so quickly, it's really impressive! I'm excited to see how your channel grows in the future and not gonna lie I may need to draw fanart of your fursona/mascot in the near future ;^^
It’s a lot of late nights but thank you haha. I hope it does! But I still appreciate everyone here and now beyond anything! And only if you want but I would love to see!!!
Nice avater
Thank you!
Have you ever tried cryptharc (the first one), it's one of the few rougelikes that i beat on the first try and it was pretty fun. but i'm not a big fan of the sequel as it went from 2d to 3d
Gotcha I’ll take a look if I’m given the time! Thanks for the recommendation!
Looks cool. Thanks for the review.
Of course! Thank you for watching!
Darn my roguelike backlog grows lol.
I apologize for your backlog. Too many good roguelikes
@@roguelikerabbit lol, tell me about it to be fair I would not have it any other way tho.
Oh I won cobalt core! ❤
Congratulations!
This one is a doozy! I played this game back in May, and I am curious how much it has changed since then! Good pick for an underrated and less known gem! A game that has had my head scratching is Brutal Orchestra, but I'm not sure how youtube friendly that is... Otherwise, I'd always say Going Under is a small game that makes me giggle. Great video as always!
Sure is a doozy. ANd there is so much to see but I need to get gud to see that. Aside from that one day we will look at going under we will but as for Brutal Orchestra I'll see and depending on the likes we will see!
This looks a good game to play on the go on the Steam Deck. I tried the demo but got squished and slashed a bit too often for my tastes. No fault of the game, of course.
It's really rough so I don't blame you. Its fun but man it's rough. Def a good game for the steam deck!
thanks for playing the game I suggested! Im happy to hear you liked it. Just a little note though, the game drips feeds you a little bit of lore every time you finish a day, you get these little sections where someone is telling a tale to someone else about what I'm assuming is the player character around a campfire, I never went past day 3 myself so I'm unsure if it ever becomes relevant.
Ah thats good to know. I am bad so I never knew thanks for letting me know though!
Great recommendation!
If you like the historical Japanese aesthetic, give Wind and Wilting Blossom a look. I had a lot of fun with it.
Ill see!
This channel is gold for me, glad things are going well for you!
Im glad to hear you enjoy! They have been here's to hoping we stay on the up!
Sounds great
I'm definitely going to get the game soon after that good review of it.
It’s so good!
Proud to be in the first K of viewers, as a fellow rogue like loving furry lol
Though otters > Rabbits
I’m happy to have you but sorry your wrong rabbits are better
@@roguelikerabbit prove it :D
I have nothing to prove I’m just right
I will definitely be keeping my eye on these, windblown does look quite fun. Speaking on this topic I will say I'm particularly excited for a game called die in the dungeon would recommend glancing at it if you haven't
I feel like I took a look at that at some point I’ll have to look again haha. As for windblown it’s amazing!!!
Huh what're the odds lol I just saw a friend play windblown and they really wanted me to try it I just might after hearing two recommendations
Oh it’s wonderful I highly recommend it especially with coop
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers! also WINDBLOWN IS OUT??? aaaa
It is out in early access! And thank you!!!
ay nice dude, ya worked hard and it's showing, also all three of those games are definitely on my radar, good to hear about them~ keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!
To kill a god seems like it would do well if it has some in-depth lore. Some roguelikes can function with minimal lore as long as the story and gameplay carries but this one needs lore from what you've shown us imo. The setting is too neat to be handwaved away. Sin Slayers seem clunky here. I don't mind Darkest Dungeon but it stresses me out since I need to grind and keep alive multiple people. If it was just one then it's not too stressful but I can't even do a fkn pokemon Nuzlocke with the same death mechanics because I will ACTUALLY cry if anyone dies. If SS has an easy to access help menu then the wall of text tutorial is manageable. Was about to say, Windblown seems very reminiscent of Hades and I 100% the first game. Co-op looks promising too. Dashing everywhere seems cool and it's gonna be so much fun if you can dash off platforms and just die if you misjudged the distance. If you can't die from that then oh well, still fine lmao.
Yeah sadly to kill a god def needs some work, SS I feel has promise but the good news is with it it’s not as bad as DD since characters don’t die forever. I just hope it gets a bit easier to go through tutorial stuff. And windblown is well just amazing, when it comes to dashing you can’t fall off because of it haha
So many roguelikes, so little time 😢 still gonna try em all at some point.
This is so true haha
Congrats on the 1K subscribers. Have you tried the demo for Star*Vaders? It’s pretty cool IMO. It’s a roguelike deckbuilder that is sorta like playing a turn-based version of Space Invaders.
Huh No I havent I will take a look if I can!
Windblown definitely makes me think of Ember Knights, and I've played the heck out of that, so I'll probably like this too
100% Like emberknights its so good!
I got windblown day one and its been a blast in co-op. btw you get an upgrade in zone 2 i think which lets you just hold the A button down so you don't have to keep tapping to dash
Yep I found that out playing its been so much fun I really hope to get a full video out on it sorta soon
I gotta wait for the next payday for Windblown 😭. Can't wait for To Kill a God as well, though, definitely interested in that one.
Windblown so far has been amazing! As for To Kill a God it's super interesting and unique interested to see how it develops
I did not expect windblown to be out literally a week after the stream was done definitely getting it now
For sure It's amazing! I have already played a good amount haha
every day im amazed you have less subs than me
Just means you make amazing content too!
Congrats on the first K, many more to come!
Thank you! Here's to hoping!
Windblown got me waitin on payday
I had to grab it right when it came out and I have to say its really good
Hmm, yes, a furry is recommending Windblown. Never would have seen that coming! (and you're right to be doing so)
Listen even if it wasn't furries it's an amazing game. But no it's just the extra cherry on top lol
