I really enjoyed Megaloot's demo, but I agree completely with this assessment. I think there's a solid game buried here, but it's held back by there being four shop slots and Way Too Many Items to fill them. In one of the demos, you were able to specialize your shop every 10 floors, giving you some control over which family of items would show up more frequently (sort of -- it felt marginally better but not great), whereas now it's "turn an item into stats, and go forth" which just doesn't feel anywhere as good. Solid review, solid production value (which just improves in the next couple of videos), these are fantastic videos.
I never tried the demo but I’ve heard some similar things from people in reviews about the demo. Honestly a shame. I may butt at the game a bit but it was really close to something wonderful for me but just the sheer rng and shop kind of killed it for me. Maybe with time it can refine itself or not I know a lot of people do enjoy it in its current state so maybe it’s not just built for us which is ok. But I’m glad you enjoyed the video I appreciate the compliments! So thank you!
Normally I play video games to immerse myself into a role of an adventurer, while loot is a big part of it, this felt more like scrolling through a spreadsheet rather than fighting monsters and grabbing gear to get stronger. In any other game opening the backpack and swapping armor pieces is a part of the experience that takes you out of it, as you look over the stats and numbers, but its so brief that you dont mind it, but in this game its the whole game.
That’s a great way of putting it. This game kind of is just scrolling a spreadsheet. You don’t get those key experiences that really lead to a true immersive experience and honestly just such a shame. This game is for the min maxers who like to see big numbers. Which nothing wrong with it but leaves a lot lacking for people who want to actually go on an adventure with their games
I really wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. That it was just not for me. It's a very highly rated game on steam and I just wanted to give some doubts that maybe I was the outlier
good video! I suspected this about this game so I didn't end up getting it, especially cause backpack hero didn't really click with me. you should really check out shogun showdown by the way, I bought it with it's 1.0 release and it is an incredible roguelike!
Yeah I loved backpack hero but sadly this game didn't have the charm or the gameplay that made me like backpack hero sadly. Also thank you for the suggestion I will definitely take a look!
How would you compare this game to a game like Luck To be a Landlord? Watching this gave me somewhat similar vibes, but also not really... But then again, one is just a slot machine simulator with extra steps HAHA
I’ve never played it but taking a quick Look honestly I feel like Megaloot is more pure gambling than Luck to be a Landlord as it looks like in that game you can adjust what is on the slot machine and have some kind of control on it. Megaloot you don’t. Also honestly the bigger one is the packaging Luck to be a landlord is made to be a slot machine game. Megaloot not so much lol
I think the sad thing was that it didn't have a good hook for players at least for me. Even if you are diehard as just a purist roguelike player I think it leaves a lot to be desired. I truly don't think it's a bad game but left me wanting a lot more. But a lot of people seem to enjoy the look but like I say numerous times in the video it just feels like gambling and that in itself might be the hook
I've seen that around before it was fully released I will definitely look into it when I can! Though so many people have been recommending roguelikes I don't know how Ill fit them all! I greatly appreciate the suggestions though! It makes me really happy that people want to hear my thoughts.
@@roguelikerabbit your editing style is rly fun to watch, and you have the personality for it. Also at least for me there's a void when it comes to TH-camrs dedicated to rogue likes, it's very nice and refreshing. So love the vids, just don't get burnt out lol Editing to mention that I love the lil goblin man from Peglin, he's the sole reason I picked it up
Roguelikes have been my longtime favorite genre so I am more than happy to keep going. Im glad to hear you like my editing style I just recently got back into youtube and been trying to make things fun and interesting so thank you for saying that. And that's totally fair sometimes a funky little guy is all you need to get a game. That's why I picked up Ak-xolotl!
I'd love to see your review of Have a Nice Death! It's a super fun hack and slash, 2d platformer, roguelike
Thats actually a game I have a good amount of time in already! I would need to refresh myself on it but I remember it being very fun!
+respect to the algorithm for sending me your way. This video was put together really well, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed!
I was about to buy the game until I realized that that's your avatar and not an actual character in the game.
Yeah no sorry to disappoint

woah! great video and analysis. hope you blow up
Thank you! Here’s to hoping!
Whoo! More Roguelike!!!
More roguelike!
2.5 outta 5 sounds very generous for gameplay, considering how not-fun you made the game sound.

It would be nice if you showed more of the gameplay while speaking. The rabbit can be off to the side still.
I actually started to do this in my newest video! If you want to take a look!

Glad I wasn't the only one not understanding the hype, I didn't like it much. Could just not be my thing though
Oh yeah, also you should check out Peglin
Fun lil pachinko rougelike that's insanely funny to get absurd builds in

Show more gameplay and if you want to show your avatar, show it in the corner most of the times instead of full screen .
That you for the recommendation I’ve started to do this more in newer videos
Aye, the algorithm was cool!
Furry reviewer, dope pngtuber, and rougelikes, sign me up!
also who made your model :3?
looks like bukoya?
