www.twitch.tv/a_0602 Apologies for the atrocious audio mixing. Hopefully TH-cam auto-balances it a bit (RIP Twitch viewers eardrums) This speed run took about two weeks of prep work to get going. Shout-out to Hokson's original run for finding good routes. My run differs a bit in prioritizing fewer, more versatile AC builds. Modified Type A controls also allow me to utilize contact mines.

Watching this game being speedrun is like reliving my childhood all over again. i could never fully beat the game because I just a small boi but seeing it be demolished like this makes me so happy. Good stuff dude!
Glad I could make your day! It certainly was tough
TETRAPODS ROCK
In AC4A Wonderful Body is an old school Raven with low AMS compatibility, and the NEXT hes given is a prototype meant to allow people like him to pilot them. In your fight with him he walks around and boost hops, and your operator comments on it saying "why is he moving like that?" He also says "NEXTs can do that? Then what am I doing!?" a little bit into the fight.
Every time I use missiles I feel like a disappointed mother wishing they could be more like their brother, mechwarrior lrms
i love you boost hopping CLANG CLANG CLANG
Had to fkn learn how to bunnyhop to finish the Destroy Radar Array/ Suicide bombers mission in Armored Core 2 AA. 40 minutes of pain and panic. Learned the hard way.
glad i found this video now, ac6 made me fall in love with armored core but the earlier games put me off a little because of how movement worked. b hopping is probably gonna save me some stress now lol
We called it Sputtering in my neck of the woods. Shoutout to the Eastern Canada old ass Ravens!
Thank You for this I just got teary eyed watching this, as an old raven I cherished this much
You're most welcome. I'm glad you connected with it that much.
Need the missile intercept system back for AC6
You know, watching this video makes ACVI's Lammergeier legs seem SIGNIFICANTLY less out of place. You missed a slightly key trait all tets have in common in 6; while hovering, their legs have internal boosters which aren't affected as strongly by total weight. This allows the three tets to move faster than is typical of a biped of comparable durability. Their normal boosters only kick in during quick boosts as well, allowing them to run extremely efficient boosters at the cost of being vulnerable while low on EN. Lammergeier tets are mediums with the speed and maneuverability of a lightweight. VP40 tets are heavies with the speed of a medium and the maneuverability of a light-medium. Verrill tets are a bit shorter on AP than tanks but rival them in stability, and with the maneuverability of sub-100kkg heavies. All three have to pay the Newtonian piper eventually, though; what goes up must come down to recharge its generator!
man i love your videos, please do more talking about the evolution of armored core
I like how people reinvent skipping but call it boost hopping
Beautiful. Thank you for this.❤ I'm especially fond of the 1st gen. 4-legged Dawn MTs. Not very tough, but endearing. 🚀
I literally only learned to boost hop because at a certain point in silent line I couldn’t fight the A rank AC’s cause they seemingly never stopped. One spectate later and I downloaded the moveset and never looked back
This has literally made me pull out my PS2 and play AC3 again. Thank you.
Then I've done my job!
Thank you for making this video. I've always questioned why it felt like quads were being constantly shafted by from in favor of making other leg types have more variety. Quads are my favorite leg type aesthetically but I often found myself playing with bipeds and reverse joints because I like playing aggressively and fast.
Love your videos man, keep it up!
Thanks! I appreciate it
I hope more parts get added to AC6 in updates. only having 2 options for quads kinda sucks, and It'd be neat if we got 'Heavy Tetrapod.' Maybe they can work like the ones in V and VD, locking down to increase stability and/or reload speeds.
I'd love to see a few more options. Personally - I'd like to see some lighter options
@@A-0602 Boss parts would also be fun, I really want those gatling lasers on Allmind-Igauzu. As well as transformable parts. Seeing Ayre's Boss AC transform into a jet made me scream with hype!

tetra pod is for railgun
You skipped something - due to the tidal wave of crybaby tears AC6 quads ( or tetras - whichever you prefer) also weigh a bit less than tanks and have equal or lower AP than heavy bipeds, with their kick being nerfed into beyond oblivion. But hey - the crybabies are happy right?
I love your videos bro, but PLEASE get a new microphone!
Oh man. I don't usually care for the look of Gen 1-3 but those early gen hovering quads are probably some of my favorite parts in the whole franchise. I hope they bring something like that back like with the hover tank and hover bipeds in ac6. Honestly I was kinda let down with the variety of quad legs and reverse joints. They were the categories I was looking forward to playing the most, but the lack of part variery and slight awkwardness (Accidentally activating hover, and the jump QBs respectively) lead most of my builds to just being bipeds.
Can you make a video like this for tank?
Hey wait a minute… These aren’t ATV’s
Something kinda overlooked is that tetrapods could stay in the air in gen 5 for much longer than other legs, their descent was much slower which was very helpful if you want to be more airborne Gen 4 tetras were known to be super fast as long at they’re boosting on the ground as opposed to the air. Some people attribute this to the ground effect but idk if that rlly makes sense. Just neat.
I honestly didn't know about the aerial abilities of tetras in Gen5 until people started commenting about it. Will the glories of the internet never cease?
DO YOU LIKE MY CORE?
In ac6 its somewhat Better even more Since you can fly for longer and without using as much energy
Man, I just remember doing this - what a cool build the me from 6 years ago made. ... Maybe not good, but cool
See, one thing I miss in Armored Core 6 is that sense of breakneck SPEED from overboosting. It's just not the same.
It really isn't. Even if the cores somehow influenced assault boost strength, there a big difference in how they moved.
@@A-0602 It feels more like AC5 than anything and quite frankly, the less they borrow from that one, the better.
Quads have always been my favorite leg type . 5th gen took it a step backwards and essentially were useless compared to the progression over the generations, speed AP stability at En cost or acceleration cost
100% respected what they were trying to do ... but I didn't like it lol
Here's the mission
Great video, man! Even though it sounds like you recorded the audio with the microphone on a Nintendo DS you still earned my subscription!
lol, I get that a lot. My mic is ... not the best
In AC6, the BAWS quads are more impressive than AC quads
Gen 6 hovering is honestly *extremely* reminiscent of gen 5 quad gameplay. They had an extraordinarily high stability stat, and stability determined your "falling" speed. Since tetrapods had such high stablity, a common tactic was to build a heavy ranged loadout with laser rifles and high armor, and then nullify enemy's cover by floating high above the rest of the map. Cannon usage was exceedingly rare on anything besides tanks in duels, since they prevented you from using bay weapons without discarding the cannon and were extremely limiting for mobility. Quads were also very slow in gen 5, so getting enough distance to snipe outside of the opening engagement was very difficult. Having said, I really appreciate all the flexibility in quads, since many games include both "light" and "heavy" versions of them and they're really fun mechs to build around since they occupy such a nebulous space between all the other leg types. Whether or not they compete is a pretty different question, though.
i think in 6 the quad legs are definitely my favorite, because of how boosters work and that the medium quad leg isnt actually that heavy you can still get really good regular mobility while also being able to more effectively maintain and access vertical mobility to avoid difficult attacks like missiles, while also letting you use much stronger burst damage weapons. imo the best leg type for melee since you can use the really high burst stagger weapons that are consistent like the explosive throwers and shell launchers and etc that guarantee the powerful post stagger melee damage, on true lightweights i only ever find myself adding melee as a supplement for when enemies get staggered or to bridge the gap quickly and fully stagger to start the combo, but ultimately the build will be focused on high consistent dps regardless of stagger like steel haze or a laser turret build (steel haze is kind of a misnomer here though because the reason why he has that burst pistol and the reason why its on its right hand is because it does alot of stagger compared to rifles and other burst fire guns and specifically sets up for the melee)
Once quick boost was introduced, as far as I'm concerned, missiles mostly became a non-option. Once you understand the basic physics of dodging missiles, judicious quick boost use counters them all. Given how many enemies are AC's or simply change direction randomly, missiles aren't really a primary choice to me. I've just learned how to get the job done with more practical weapons that don't fail as soon as an enemy AC appears and starts properly dodging them. NOW, having said that, I do admit that in AC6 I've enjoyed the plasma missile launchers as support weapons, primarily because they have a large AOE and an apparent proximity fuse, making them great for shaving off health, splattering groups of trash mobs and building up enemy stagger bars. (I don't really like that they introduced a stagger system; what is this, Sekiro? But I live with it.)
The fact that hover legs had LOWER energy drain than quads when introduced is honestly kind of a crime. Like how does walking on four legs take MORE energy than LITERALLY boosting constantly? Poor quad legs have easily been the most beleaguered and reinvented leg type throughout the series. My main build in AC4A was a heavy quad type though; it was the perfect blend of stats and load bearing for my quad gatling gun build. That thing could get the job done everywhere.
We got done dirty more often than I'd like lol
Good review, slightly confused by the choices fromsoft made though.
In AC6 it's really weird to me how tetras have better mobility in air than ground. Also its lame that there's no strafing walk cycle, in general but esp. the tetrapods.
Yeah, the air mobility thing really threw me for a loop at first
Fascinating to see the history of quad legs. AC 6 is my first Armored Core game, and I found myself falling in love with Quad legs over other leg types. The unconventional playstyle they offered really clicked for me in a way that bipeds didn't. Unmatched aerial superiority combined with formidable defense and high firepower is really hard to beat. There's few, if any, situations where quads don't have an advantage in that game.
Gotta love the superior stability too
@A-0602 Only tanks can outclass Quads for stability, and the sacrifice in movement speed isn't always worth it. I do love tank builds though, whenever the terrain is relatively open or flat I love taking my mobile artillery platform out for a spin.
@@ManiaMac1613 honestly I wish there was just a few more quads/tank legs, particularly a lightweight quad so I could keep my speed, weird walks and the hover. Ever since the boost change I've basically turned myself into a gnat with a pile bunker haha
@@amidalaprin4846 Hopefully AC 6 gets an expansion or a spinoff that gives us different quad legs to play with. I'd like to see quad legs with a high vertical jump stat to quickly establish air superiority, or lightweight quads with an increased quick boost recharge rate for better strafing, or heavy quads that give you even more equip load to work with so you could make a gunship-type build.
Leaving a comment for the algorythm (i fell in love with the channel )
Awe, thanks man. Really appreciate it
Amazing video dude, its really great
You should have mentioned the movement changes with Quads in Gen V. Quads in that game are the predecessor to how they are in Gen 6, with them having noticeably less falling speed, being the de-facto aerial hover legs in that game. They're strong in VD for that reason, as you can maintain your height advantage much easier. You'll see them picked more often for that rather than their strength with cannons. Nevertheless, great video as always!
Excellent video! Very well put together, great watch.
personally i'm more of a reverse joint Biped guy myself but i would be lying if i even tried to pretend like the quad legs don't look absolutely awesome.
Always been a big fan of the weird ones
gen 5 tetras are best known for their really high impact stability and their altitude retention also compared to other legs, they have no shot deviation when in ready mode.
that sniper tetra always kill me back then im suct at pvp
