Small note that Side Shields debuted in AC3, not Silent Line, but I think you may have just misspoke there. Edit: just checked and they actually debuted in AC2:AA, surprisingly. So the timeline is actually First energy shield for left arm is in AC2 First solid shield extension is in AC2:AA First energy shield extension is in AC3 First solid shield for left arm is in Silent Line I never used them because I was always too energy hungry, but it's pretty crazy that they actually reduced stability in that game. Maybe it was an unintentional bug that was accidentally turned into a feature, like Luigi missing his final dash attack hitbox in Smash Brothers.
Energy shields with energy side shields are hilariously busted on the right setup. It's possible to be energy *positive* with an arm shield and energy *NEUTRAL* with side shields while standing still with the correct parts...with enough AP and defense to tank a full magazine's worth of large missiles.
@@telosnyx5193 He said Silent Line (0:39), but tbh I just went and checked and we're actually both wrong LOL First energy shield for left arm was AC2 First solid shield extension is in AC2:AA First energy shield extension is in AC3 First solid shield for left arm is in silent line.
It was always jarring to me using an energy shield to block Ace's laser blade. To live through it, to stagger him, and to somehow beat him (this was waaay back before I even learned about OP-I), oh my god it was awesome.
the bug only lasts until Silent Line its been fixed in Nexus/Nine Breaker or Last Raven this includes the portable ports so I'm not confident to say if the same can be said in Formula Front
small correction: side shield extensions were introduced in AC3, not Silent Line, if I'm remembering correctly. Silent Line introduced *solid* side shields - the energy side shields were in AC3. otherwise a great video explaining the issue with them, 100% correct apart from that small point.
Are we talking pvp or pve because this may be objectively wrong. A tank with proper shielding can take single digit dmg from basically everything with the right set up.
You say that but there are builds that can literally just shield up and take literally every hit until the enemy AC runs out of ammo and still not be below 3/4ths AP....and that's not even with a tread build. Hope you have an energy EO Core, because otherwise you won't have any ranged options left.
Reading the title I thought the side shields would be super OP or something but no, they're actually just bugged!
Is THIS why Carom kept demolishing my standard AC setup? I never knew...
*I WAITED 20 YEARS FOR THIS VIDEO* *...SERIOUSLY*
sounds like a decimal point got misplaced

@@popo74aa holy shit thats funni i actualy never played AC silent line so its kinda more suprising to me
Damn! That's unfortunate! I'd love to try making a shielded up build.
You actually can, but not side shields they drain too much.
The mirror shield can be deployed permanently if you have it set up correctly

So that's why my side shield setup didn't work... I was just trying to boost around to not get stunned. Gonna be beast at ac6
Glad I watched this before we started our Silent Line playthrough!

Please do not
@@NecromancyForKids why? If he wants more views it’s an easy way to do it. You could also introduce more people to armored core

So, Solid Shields work properly in SL PSP.
Can you do a ACFA 2nd boosting tutorial? And will you be making AC6 content? I’ll definitely sub.
I already have vacation days booked to marathon AC6 haha. Will be streaming it on twitch:

Yeah - kicking myself for double-checking that. I hate being wrong on the internet lol
@@A-0602 eh to be fair, you weren't really wrong - just chalk it up to a missed word in the script or something. minor typo, that's all
Might be bugged but still useful for some missions if you want a higher rank. But I would not use it against other ACs.
Hey just a technical heads up you might want to de-noise your mic it’s easy to do and will improve the recording :)
Thanks for the advice. I'll see what I can do. Always looking to improve.
Any build that uses any form of shield is a bad build. Shields have been consistently terrible throughout the history of Armored Core.
Are we talking pvp or pve because this may be objectively wrong. A tank with proper shielding can take single digit dmg from basically everything with the right set up.
Shields were extremely powerful in Verdict Day.

I rarely even use shields and still know this is wrong
I respect every opinion
