You need to go see the Carolina Cup in Camden South Carolina
This is the famous 2024 Carolina Cup in the beautiful Camden South Carolina. You need to see this horse race derby in person. The first half of the day is a tail gate, with food available if you don't bring your own. The atmosphere is incredible and everyone is there to have a good time. The horse races are intense and something that is so much fun to do. I have lived in South Carolina my entire life and never knew about Carolina Cup. We were fortunate enough to be invited by our friends at Tour Delux Rally and their sponsor Capital Ford of Wilmington to capture the day. Be sure to check our Tour Delux Rally, they are a 501c3 non profit that raises money for Shriners Children's Hospital and they are an amazing group of car enthusiasts. They go on some epic adventures and if you're interested in joining their rally I'll leave a link to their website, and of course this day wouldn't be possible without the sponsor of the event Capital Ford of Wilmington. Their sponsorship helps the Rally raise more money for their charities and they are fortunate to have them as a sponsor.

    • @MarkandRad
      @MarkandRad 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha, that is a lot of masking, speed ramping and playing with the timing of it. It’s not a plug in, I did a lot of playing around with clips with similar features that can cut together and used masks to blend them together. I use FCPX for editing

    What camera/lenses do you use? This looks great! Also curious what you use for editing and if these are color graded - I recently purchased the Canon R8 and getting into all this now so I’m very curious!

    • @MarkandRad
      @MarkandRad 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, so we use Nikon Z7, Sony A7S3, GoPro’s and DJI Magic Air 2. Canon R8 is a great camera! The biggest thing is getting out there and shooting and playing with the editing software. If it helps you I knew nothing about filming or editing until October 2020, I just started watching endless TH-cam videos learning all I could….and I mean thousands of hours of tutorials. Watching other creators videos and going out trying to replicate a shot is a huge help. Practice is everything with video. I wish you the absolute best of luck, I use FCPX for editing, it’s what I learned on, and I’ve finally got to where I feel comfortable editing with it, learning a new software is a mountain I don’t want to climb haha. Davinci Resolve is a great software and Premier Pro is great if you like doing heavy special effects. But FCPX is the most user friendly and powerful for normal video editing. Hope this helps you my friend and good luck!

      @@MarkandRad I lived there a total of 25 years beginning in 1954. In high school kids couldn't wait to get off "the rock", but after going to college, working, returning a couple times, I began to enjoy it more. One year, around 1965 or so the South End had a U.S. Army landing exercise and the high school girls loved all those boys. There were bleachers set up so the townspeople could watch the landing. In the 60's, there were lots of fishing boats working the Island area. And in the late 50's there was a pea farm in the valley. There wasn't many people living on the waterfront so my dad would catch lots of fish off the rocks and we would go to False Bay and scoop up Dungeness crabs at low tide. Growing up, my parents were always canning crabs and clams and oysters found on beaches. And when in high schools, I and other boys would swim at a deep limestone quarry hole not far from Roche Harbor. When I was 12, I christened a boat that had been built at one of the two shipyards in Friday Harbor. I named it "The Pat", broke the champagne bottle and it slid into the war and when I was 17, I was able to work on it in Alaska where I earned money to go to college. And I got to be on it from Seward to Puget Sound and up and down the Inside Passage several times.This is probably pretty boring for you. Sorry if it is. The lavendar fields and the alpacas, weren't there when we left.

    I had the fortune of living on San Juan Island for a couple of years in my younger days, I actually took my driving test there, and worked at the Roche Harbor resort restaurant McMillins. One night my brother and I went out with a few buddies for some underage drinking on one of the guys parents 14 or 16 foot boston whaler (so not a big boat at all), drifting with the current somewhere west of the mouth of mosquito bay . It was just starting to start getting dark but we notice further down the shore line to the west a few boats approaching which was going to spoil our fun... we were just about to head out to another location when feet away a huge orca broke the surface so close that the water it displaced I thought was going to come over the edge and sink the boat. The next few moments we found ourselves right in the middle of at least four or five whales in the pod... the boats that were coming our way were whale watchers following that pod. That was I'd have to say so far in my life the most exhilarating, awe inspiring, and yet absolutely terrifying experience with nature Ive ever had. Really enjoyed your video, brought me back to many fond memories. I also enjoyed whom ever did the video editing color grading work, especially in the nice deep contrast, obviously excluding the older gen go pro captures, which to me gave that section a nostalgic feel to me, but that could be based on me already knowing the area.

    • @MarkandRad
      @MarkandRad 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow that is one heck of an awesome story! I cannot imagine being in a small boston whaler and have an orca bust through the water that close….hey on the bright side that boat won’t sink haha. I’m very glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the compliment. I do all the editing and color grading myself. Far from a pro but I do the best I can, and yes GoPro footage is awesome when you need it but hard to push the colors around and good luck getting more contrast out of it but they are great cameras when you need them. Thank you very much for watching our video and thank you for the story, that was really cool to hear about

      So state parks are off limits but most of the island there is no issue flying. You’ll love it, we hope you have an amazing time

    We are getting ready to visit! What is the name of the beach at the 2:25 mark?

    • @MarkandRad
      @MarkandRad ปีที่แล้ว

      That was the Hidden Lake Trail and it was great, however a bit of a more private beach I’d try the Old Indian Trails: Black Arrow Green Arrow Loop! There was no one else there except for us.

    Fantastic video. Lots of lovely scenery, interesting places, good commentary and all rather nicely edited with bouncy music. Very enjoyable watch.

      Thank you very much! There was so much we didn’t do here that we really wanted to, however we look forward to going back in July or August when the whole park is open and exploring. It’s a beautiful place to explore.

    So I was surounded by water down there for 3 solid days. One body fished out of my fishing hole west of town. The second one at the apartment a mile from south precinct. The flood drove me out. And I loved that Southern Town. I learned the best parts of my guitar those 6 years I was there. The Civil war was not so devicive, Morons are exclusive of the truth. Thats how every Empire Falls.

      So sorry to hear about that, that is terrible, I’ve personally never been through a flood I can’t even imagine what it is like. Nashville is an awesome city with a lot of soul to it. If you lived there I’m sure you must miss it.

    I visited the island last week and biked to Shanty Town where I had a lobster roll. Also saw some kids jump off the Jaws bridge. Next time I visit I want to go to the west side of the island where you went. Way less people.

      @MarkandRad ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s awesome! So glad you had a good time. Yes the west side is much quieter and more low key, it’s also got the beautiful cliffs however the whole island is a lot of fun…..and the lobster rolls….we miss them.

    Great video! Going to Iak Bluffs in Oct. Can you acess bus info online or get printed schedules upon arrival?

    • @MarkandRad
      @MarkandRad ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is the website: www.vineyardtransit.com/bus-route-schedules As soon as you get off the ferry there is a visitor information center that has the bus passes and all the information you’ll need. I’d call and ask about October for the buses, I know that is the off season and the schedules differ. Either way I hope you have a wonderful time and thank you for watching the video! Safe travels.
