Didn't know about them. Went to see the Darkness and was floored about how f*ing good the opening band was. Never happened before or since. Felt sad when their set was over. Wish I'd gotten some of their merch that night. I bought The Church of R&R album and hands down it's one of my all time favorite albums to date now. I learned though that there is an upper-echelon of "true" Foxy fans that prefer albums like Flamingo Trigger and I wasn't part of that gang. That's cool with me. I hate to say it but I liked Gonzo. It takes a few listens but the songs are good. I regret missing the Gonzo show :(

I've personally never listened to Green Day's side projects. Does them being my 2nd favorite band and having not listened to their side projected make me a fake fan lol. Also great video man!

i think it’s very important to point out that spencer and ryan had main concerns for how the band was perceived (image wise) and so during the nothing rhymes with circus tour everyone was not only surprised by fever’s lyrical advancement in the emo scene, but also how the tour seemed much more like an experience (think vegas show) this is what took them into stardom, they were doing everything than all the other bands around them

What if Panic! Comes back but its the classic line up? Brendons had time to grow up and mature as has Ryan, what if they were able to marry their visions for Panic? The poppier side Brendon wanted, the more indie side Ryan wanted and occasionally we get a album indulging Brendons version of Panic or indulging Ryan and Johns version so we get a more Pretty Odd inspired album or more of what that could have been? Or would they struggle with that? I think time could heal the divide

Really enjoyable video (though I’m probably biased as I’ve loved this album since the day it came out, to the point where for more it’s very close to Black Parade for the title of their best record). Overall, just found your channel recently and really enjoy your stuff.

"Say Amen", "King of the Clouds", "Roaring 20s", and "The Overpass" are my favorite tracks off this album.

Ryan Ross is a lyrical badass, and Pretty Odd is Panic!'s best album. I listen to that album constantly. Write a new album, man. Write a new album!

I've described Foxy Shazam as "the best band you've never heard of." Maybe it's because I'm from Cincinnati too, so the hype was even bigger for me, but I don't understand why they're not one of the rock n roll greats. Plus they're all really rad dudes. I think Church of Rock and Roll is a genuinely perfect album.

I knew Foxy Shazam back when I was 10 years old and I saw the crazy "The French Passion of Animality Opera" music video. They were the reason my cousin and I started a rock band with the same energy. That seems like years ago now. I'm 27 now and this band has always been an influential part of my musical life. I met all of them and almost went on tour with them. They are some of the nicest people I had ever met. My band covered all of their songs and we always tried to let people know who they were at school. They really deserve a bigger audience. But, Covid struck and most young people these days would rather listen to rap and hip hop which is why I think Foxy Shazam has not had the breakthrough they deserve. I will admit that their new music is not as good as it used to be. But, they still have talent that deserves as much attention as a band like Queen. Foxy Shazam will always have a place in my heart as the most underrated and most fun rock band of all time. I have a feeling that Rock and Roll is slowing starting to trend again. Let's see!

I think one key part of their "rise and fall" story that you missed was the fallout after "The Church of Rock n Roll". Their shift in sound with Gonzo and the return to releasing music independently wasn't just a stylistic choice. "Church" was supposed to be their big breakthrough...and it just failed to sell (some blame the lack of marketing). The band has never spoken publicly about this all too much, but I think they just could no longer see a superstar future with the major labels so they decided to go back to doing what they had done before. It's a real tragedy because they're a band that deserved to be on EVERYONE's radar. Regardless, awesome video about one of my favorite bands! Saw them live once again a few years ago and they sounded amazing! Looks like they're finally starting up the tour bus again too, so I'm hoping to catch them soon!

i LOVE ryan but i seriously dont get the hate towards brendon. he's honestly such a great guy and his voice (apart from ryan's lyrics, ofc) made up panic's SOUL. not to mention he supports lgbtq+, which is a HUGE W

Pretty great video! I do wanna correct you on Snap Back though. It’s not about alcoholism. His addiction is self harm, and not a drug. Tyler actually doesn’t drink at all. He has drank once as a teenager and has never drank again! Josh drinks though, he’s spotted with beers occasionally. Tyler just does Redbull. You got it spot on for Lavish and Vignette though!! Those two a lot of people get confused and wrong

I was there in late 08- early 09, during We're So Blogging, the "To Whom It May Concern" split announcement, into Take A Vacation and Vices and Virtues. I remember feeling sad about the parting of the ways but not that Panic wouldn't be good solely because Ryan left. Mainly because Brendon and Spencer were as big an influence on the band's sound and equally talented on their instruments during the Fever and Pretty Odd years. If my interest in Panic waned is because the whole thing just couldn't keep afoot after their third record and I just lost contact with them as they fell apart. PS: apparently, the guys were already big into the early 60s sound when they got into the studio for Fever and had to be talked into keeping their sound. Had they had it their way the first album would be a mix of the more classical sounding side B of Fever and Pretty Odd.

I looove the young veins and take a vacation. Though im not a vicious panic at the disco hater (although i am pre split biased and not a big fan of panics later work lol) theres just something about that album that captivates me more than panics work save for pretty odd. Though no denying Brendons vocal talent i think Ryans voice is rlly nice and it works really well for the vintage rock sound. So does johns, and their voices work well in unison, a very lennon-mccartney feel when they sing together. I got into stuff like the beatles and the beach boys when i eventually "left" my emo phase so i cant help but adore an album made by people who seemed to do the same lol. Dangerous blues is my favorite track. I love slow waltzy songs like that and ocean/beach themes. Take a Vacation seemed to have taken a bit of a pet sounds direction in terms of its acclaim--misunderstood at the time of its release, but loved dearly in retrospect. Seems john and ryan (at leasr john) have been seeing the love the young veins have been getting and i hope, regardless of whether or not theyll get back together, it brings a smile to their faces.

I've gone back to being obsessed with panic and ryan ross for like the past 2 weeks this video is so perfect thank you!
