Probably because nothing could have followed up Black Parade, but honestly, it just felt so jarringly different from what we got used to.

It's a Great album. I loved it from the moment it came out.
danger days literally has so much lore between the music videos and the twitter accounts and the comics and stuff like it is such a rich and alive and lived-in world and i don't understand how you could look at that and think it's lame. i think conceptually it's their coolest album.
Conceptually, yes, I think the music was just too poppy. Like it’s good, but it’s definitely not their best.
I think I lucked out by finding My Chemical Romance after Danger Days (I found MCR shortly after Danger Day's release), as I just internalized it as another part of their discography. The change wasn't so jarring for me, it was just more songs. Na Na Na was actually the first song I heard by them (and it scared me at first because my 13 year old mind couldn't handle the fact that the opening line was Drugs Gimme Drugs, but I quickly came to my senses). Personally, I adore this record. Funnily enough, I think I go back to it and Bullets the most frequently (even though I think Black Parade is their "best" album and Three Cheers has some of my favorite songs). I'm glad that this was their last record (at the time, definitely hopeful for MCRV) because they went out with a massive party. They did what felt organic for them rather than forcing the same vibe of the previous albums.
It's a great record, very nostalgic for me
I liked Danger Days as I was getting ready to turn 21 so it really showed growth and different side of you that no one expected.

I don't go back to Danger Days as much as their previous two albums but I understand why the shift in tone. No one wants to be depressed, angsty people forever. Sometimes there NEEDS to be a change and I respect the band for doing this. I do skip over a few tracks but this was a grower as their last two albums, for me, was immediate.

All I gotta say is Classic! Total classic! I've been listening to this album quite a bit recently with my favorite songs on the album being Na Na Na and Bulletproof Heart.
Really enjoyable video (though I’m probably biased as I’ve loved this album since the day it came out, to the point where for more it’s very close to Black Parade for the title of their best record). Overall, just found your channel recently and really enjoy your stuff.
I never heard that people didnt like Danger Days. As a MCR and also Comic book fan I got so happy when they launched it, it was so refreshing seeing a colorful and hopeful side of them
I didn't either until I joined reddit but apparently a good portion of fans don't like it. Crazy.

Danger Days is unironically my favorite MCR album. They're a fantastic band altogether, but Danger Days was such a breath of fresh air for me personally.
Danger Days is one of the MCR albums I truly enjoyed. I bought the album back in 2018 and I could listen to Na Na Na, Sing, Planetary Go, and Scarecrow in my car multiple times and still not be tired of the music. This album made me feel this music should be on the radio during 2019 and beyond.
Danger days was the first album I ever got into and although not all the songs are my favorite it’s still favorite album of tjeirs

loved this video! as others in the comments have said, its crazy that this album gets hate when its one of the most fleshed out worlds the band has ever created. its story isnt a lighthearted one either- lyrically it has plenty of dark moments, but because of the color and the more dance-y sound...

I want to thank you for this video, cuz it's so interesting to me! I listened to Danger Days in full for the first time in 2013 - my parents gave me the cd and a tee shirt of the Killjoys as a Christmas present that year - and I immediately fell in love with it. It was so different from the rest, on such a different level of creative and experimental, that it just stuck to me like gorrila glue; it was impossible to stop listening to and I couldn't stop thinking of it - both lore wise and just the songs themselves. I never even knew anyone didn't like it cuz all of my friends (plus myself, of course) thought it was one of their best albums - if not THE best - until these recent years where I've been seeing more opinions from other fans, particularly ones like yourself who were there when this album was released, and it's like a whole nother world! It's so interesting! But also like a gut punch, cuz I love this album so bad, and seeing people say it's MCRs' worst has been insane to me. 💀
But thank you again!! I've been watching a good few of your videos, and you're very interesting to watch! I've been enjoying it a lot! You're fantastic!

I love them so much. I have been relistening to all the emo music like the used and my chem. last month I bought the danger days album cause like you said I didn't get it when it came out. And it's genius! Planetary go is my new hype song. Also since I have learned more about Gerard Way, wow he is stellar. So ahead of his time and such an advocate for mental health what-s multi=talented class act. I wish I could go to there show in Vegas in October. Also The song "I don't love you" I mean come on! Gah! I listen to it every day! What a song!
thing is for me, despite being my least favorite mcr album, its still a 10/10 for me. I love the world building and vibe the album has. I love post apocalypse stories so having a whole album basically be that is really cool.

This album blew me away when it came out. Like a comic book record. So creative.❤
It's not bad. It's different. When it came out in 2010, people didn't understand it that well. The storyline and plot of the album takes place in 2019. It's understood now and has aged well when compared to what came out in 2010 and it stands up well against their other albums. "I guess you guys aren't ready for that, but your kids are gonna love it".
It was really ahead of its time when you think about it. They did the electro mixed with rock thing before FOB or Panic.

The Black Parade is their best album, it's the only album from MCR that I absolutely love. An absolute 10/10 masterpiece. Three Cheers is a great album. I can't say anything bad about it objectively and I really like it but it gets a bit heavier than I'd like it to whereas TBP has a nice balance. Three Cheers sort of has Gerard screaming too much at points. Bullets is just not an album for me at all, I never listen to it.
I like Danger Days. Like Three Cheers, it isn''t an album I absolutely adore and there are a few moments that I just don't care for like The Kids From Yesterday, Vampire Money, Summertime and especially Goodnite Dr. Death. But overall, it's a really enjoyable listen. It's just hard for it to stand out when it's a follow up to the absolute masterpiece that The Black Parade was.

Probably not. I personally really enjoy the album, but I can see how someone wouldn’t be as into it or hold it in a high standard. There’s a lot of “classic” albums I don’t enjoy.

MCR is the definition of Quality > Quantity. So many bands pump out album after album, while MCR has two 10/10 albums and two 9/10s
i love mcr, they were my first favourite band when i started getting into music (and an emo phase lol) when I was a tween. my favourite album was and still is I Brought You My Bullets, so I guess its understandable that ive never exactly "favoured" Danger Days. the mcr community says that i'll probably appreciate it more when i'm older (im 21), which I hope happens lol
