    I had to stop the video to listen through the album, as I stopped listening to Green Day around the time 21 guns was making the rounds. Its a good time. I feel like the people saying its "Not a good Green Day album" are the reason a lot of good bands get stale. You get big enough, and suddenly you're not allowed to experiment and do weird shit anymore.

      Right!? Established legacy bands get a lot of sh*t for trying new things.

    I love Father of All. It just needed a different cover, title and maybe replace Fire Ready Aim and Stabbie Stabbie with other songs.

      Idk I think most of the songs work. But I do agree with the album art needing to be changed. The title could’ve simply been just Father of All instead of adding motherf***er lol

    I didn't like it at first, but I personally think Father of All is okay, I personally only like about half the album. Although I almost didn't give it a second chance after learning about the billboard though.

      Honestly I’m glad I gave it a second chance. Idk if that billboard was the band or the label, but it really doesn’t represent the album.

      Honestly I didn’t even think about them lol. When I listed GD’s classic albums I just wanted the basics, didn’t wanna cite their entire discography. But I love those albums, too. Nimrod was the first Green Day CD I ever had.

    I don't like this album. But I don't really think FOAM had a very big effect on the band's overall legacy or reputation. Green Day have had many controversial albums or albums that have received mixed reception. Warning wasn't received well back in the day and now it's considered underrated by basically their entire fanbase. 21CB is my favourite album but even that is a very controversial album. Some people love it, some people despise it, some people are somewhere in the middle.
    And of course there is the trilogy which was received very negatively by fans back when it was released and like Warning, has received a cult following, the people who will defend the trilogy against anyone who dares speak negatively about it. FOAMF nowadays may seem like the album that's most hated but it could be argued that the trilogy (and maybe Warning) was hated just as much back when it was released. I can see the same thing starting to happen with FOAMF where people are starting to come around to it, or new younger fans are joining the community and are actually liking FOAMF, even considering it one of their best albums. Of course this is a small group but I am seeing people start to appreciate the album. And while I don't like the vast majority of it, I can accept and even appreciate the fact that others get enjoyment out of an album I don't. The band is always going to have their ups and downs but no matter how bad the downs may get, that's never going to ruin the great albums they've had. And Saviors shows that they're still capable of making really good albums in 2024.
    There are things I like about FOAMF and I think it's important to acknowledge the good things about bad albums. Side A of the album is the real problem for me. Side B is actually pretty solid, and by pretty solid I mean like a 6 out of 10. Not great but something I can listen to, get some enjoyment out of and not be embarrassed by if people heard me listening to it. Though, even on Side A, I have to give props to the band for the instrumentation on the title track. I don't like the vocals on this track at all and it honestly ruins the whole song for me. But the instrumental on its own is solid, probably as good as it gets on this album. There's good guitar work from Billie, even if the guitar section on the bridge is too short. There's a nice bassline going on during the 2nd pre chorus I think. And this is the only track where Tré's drums stand out at all on the album. The tracks that I genuinely enjoy quite a lot are Stab You in the Heart & Graffitia. They're not perfect tracks, but SYITH is a real banger, has a lot of energy and really just seems like an improvement on Fuck Time from the trilogy. Graffitia is a nice political track. Not as well written as the political tracks from the rock opera days but it's a side to Green Day that I can listen to and enjoy overall. Other than that, I'm not sure I really agree with you on much here, the album is overall kinda a flop for me personally. And I like the vast majority of the trilogy so I'm not some impossible to please fan. But I think it's great that you can get more enjoyment out of this thing than I can. Nice video, it was an enjoyable watch

    I've always loved father of all, but I personally never felt it fit with the rest of Green Day's catalog. I've always thought it fits more with what they put out under foxboro hot tubs with that same older rock influence. I think if it was under that side project instead it would have been received better.

      Stop Drop and Roll is a much better album than FOAMF. They may be similar styles and maybe FOAM would’ve been received better under that name, but it still wouldn’t have been as good as the first one
      I genuinely think SD&R is one of their absolute best albums and FOAM is their worst

    Father Of All is a good album. NOT a good Green Day album however! If this were the debut album from some random band you've never heard of you'd listen and be like yeah, this is decent stuff for these beginners! But Green Day has set the bar so high with albums like Dookie and American Idiot. Every album is not gonna be as iconic as those two, but we as fans don't expect them to! But there is a floor that we expect from them. Even some of their least appreciated albums still have a fairly high standard and Father Of All did not meet even those expectations. It is by far their worst album. It's not a horrible album but it's just so commercial and generic and even the best songs on the album are forgettable. You enjoy it enough in the moment you hear it but nothing about it makes you wanna go back and listen again. I have listened to it more often than I wanted to only because they are one of my favorite bands EVER and I keep almost trying to force myself to like it, lol!

    • @EternallyUncoolTrevor
      @EternallyUncoolTrevor  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Idk I feel like it’s not as commercial as I thought it was. It’s not like a Foo Fighters album (not to hate on Foo Fighters, enjoy their work) where it’s very produced radio rock. At least FOAM tries to be unique in its old school rock n roll sound instead relying on what every other legacy rock band is doing.
      I think as far as Green Day albums go this one is lower tier. You’re right when you say they set bar high for themselves. FOAM doesn’t really meet the standards for a classic album. But it’s not the worst thing I’ve heard. There’s stuff to like about it; and that’s what these videos are about, finding the good parts of “bad” albums.

      @@EternallyUncoolTrevor you pretty much described exactly how I feel about Dos, lol! That was my least favorite up until FOAM. But I didn't hate it at all. It was bottom of the barrel (pun intended for those with Knowledge, lol!) for sure, but I did still like it. I am an ardent trilogy defender too! Uno was a good, solid record that was mostly a throwback to their first two albums. Songs about girls and relationships and such. Being young. They threw in a few quicks and curve balls like DJ. Dos was alright to me. It had a few gems in it along with some cringe worthy stuff ( I'm looking at you F Time! I actually really like Night Life though, lol!). Just a mixed bag. But I liked how the trilogy had something for everyone! Dos wasn't my thing overall but for some it was their favorite of the three. I can dig that! I think Tre is their most underrated record ever! Tre told Warning to hold his beer, lol! I think it's damned near a masterpiece! I have it ranked fourth after Dookie, American Idiot and Warning. Dos still seemed like Green Day. Something just felt off about FOAM though. Felt like a troll to their record company or a soul-less cash grab to many. But it's not a bad album. Very top heavy though! The first 4 or 5 songs are the singles. An album should be more balanced than that, lol! But I dig swinging for the fences and doing things how you wanna do. I HATED St. Anger for awhile like most people, but it grew on me. I like it better than Kill Em All, 72 Seasons, and Hardwired. FOAM just never grew on me like that. Maybe it will in time. Revolution Radio did! I wasn't a fan of it. I still think it's not anywhere near the usual Billie Joe songwriting. But it's got some great stuff on it! It has moved up my ranking quite a bit. For awhile I probably had it just above Dos or above Shenanigans, lol!

      @@EternallyUncoolTrevor have you done a video ranking Green Day albums since Saviors came out? I'm new to your channel but will definitely be subscribing! If not, you should! Would love to hear your take on each album! Some don't include Shenanigans, but I think it's solid enough and most fans hadn't heard most of those songs when it came out so I usually rank it too. I haven't checked out any of the side bands really so I don't give my opinion on them.
