I do agree that we aren't owed an album or any singles, B-sides or any other old content from the creation of the band (including live shows). Although I do think it's fun to hope for a new album/material as long as we don't go around spreading miss-information.
Thank you so much for saying what so desperately needed to be said! I feel like MCR is punished for releasing foundations by this mounting expectations. What did Gerard say? "don't ask a lot, and you won't lose a lot"
I largely agree with this. Like I would LOVE it if MCR released a fifth album, but only if it is a natural progression that feels right for them. I would be very sad if this was something they phoned in due to fan pressure (I don't think this is something they would do anyway). Otherwise, I am simply glad that they are touring and releasing songs when it feels organic for them to do so.
I was in my 30s when I found them, I'm old af now and can look back at 20+ years of fantastic. The tour they gave us recently and that unbelievable super chock of Foundation is absolutely enough to satisfy me for a long time. I am not expecting an album. I'm expecting they do this from time to time for fun, for us fans and for themselves, nothing else. Hugs from Sweden.
i think if it comes, cool! if it doesnt? I wouldnt be upset either. Ive fulfilled my dream of seeing them live and their discography has been incredible. Maybe putting too much hope for MCR 5 is dangerous because of how much time has passed. But at this point im very happy with what we've got.
Yeah everyone is making this album seem like it’s gonna be the greatest thing ever. Granted, it will probably be very good (MCR hasn’t really made a stinker). But hyping it up too much will only lead to disappointment
Amen to that. Personally I never thought they'd reunite at all, so that tour already blew my expectations out of the water. Seeing all of them being happy and having fun! The varied setlists, with obscure songs thrown in the middle of big hits! The background with the post-apocalyptic city! Gerard's insane costumes! The messages on the drumkit! That undead-business-woman character that emerged during the last leg of the tour out of recurring costume choices! I loved every bit of it and I'm so happy I was able to witness most of it thanks to the internet (and going to one concert). Do I want a new album? Oh yes. But. Like. Let them cook, guys.
Yes to all that! Give them time. I don’t think an album is completely out of the cards, but this year? Idk. I just think it’s a bit much for AP to use MCR for clickbait.
i totally agree with you, some fans rlly need to chill. as much as i would love to see a new mcr album, i don’t want one that would ruin their discography if that makes sense. i would love for them to make an amazing album that they love on their own timeline instead of feeling pressured to put out one soon. so if we get an album, great! if we don’t, that’s perfectly fine too :) anyways, just wanted to say i’ve been watching your vids for awhile and you’re such an underrated creator, keep up the good work!!
I entirely agree with your sentiment and hope if we get any content, they take their time with it. Fan expectations have been blown out of proportion. But I don't think new content is unrealistic in the slightest. Foundations was a one-off. They've said openly that the Foundations of Decay was a spontaneous track built off of practice sessions. There was no album intended for their reunion or any track prior to Covid and after their 2019 reunion announcement. However, they did book time in-studio and there is ample evidence they were all in California late 2022-early 2023. Whether anything was done with that time is unclear as Frank and Mike were involved in L.S. Dunes and Waterparks respectively, and Gerard's voice was blown out from a cold contracted on tour. There is also the question of live content. All 2022 and 2023 shows were recorded and interviews conducted with fans by their team. Ray posted a clip of him listening to a Bullets clip likely from their last night's show and doing a new take of it. Gerard has also said they thoroughly enjoyed their time touring and hope to do it again, likely proven by their WWWY 2024 announcement (Though this could just be Warner contractual obligations judging on last year's WWWY showing). I also think unreleased deep cuts like Sister to Sleep having such a prominence on their setlists only backs up the likelihood of a live album. Though MyChem has never been a band motivated by critical acclaim or numbers, the Foundations of Decay was huge for them and warranted a mostly universally positive reaction (At least in the writing and composition department). It could've motivated them to book that studio time and consider some sort of release for 2024 through WWWY or Revenge's 20th anniversary as they've done with Black Parade.
Found you via your Foxy Shazam video and then watched your MCR rank list. Since then ive been listening to MCR nonstop. Thanks to you im reliving my high school days all over again and loving it. Keep making greay videos!
MCR5 is how Gerard called "The paper kingdom" in 2012, before Conventional weapons was released. Then in 2022 Gerard said that He regrets not releasing it back in 2009. So we could say this...MCR1 BULLETS, MCR2 REVENGE, MCR3 PARADE, MCR4 WEAPONS, MCR5 DANGER DAYS, MCR6 PAPER KINGDOM (wich is vaulted)
I fully feel this! I definitely do want a new album and do check the reddit regularly just to see if anything has changed but obviously I want them to do jt out of love and genuinely wanting to do it instead of doing it for the fans
I know they’d do it for the fans AND because they love to do it because they love the fans. But some of these fans are getting too intense and entitled. Let them cook!
well, i totally agree with u, ive been a fan of 11 years (joined MCR train a month before their break up) and i can say that they did much more for the society than making 4 albums +conventional weapons +b-sides and others. They in fact saved lifes one way or another. And i do not expect anything but the amount of rumors that were in 2017-2019 about their return (which they hid well from us, except for Frank) and the amount of hints and jokes about MCR5 are somewhat of equally. So knowing that The foundations of decay was a spontaneous single and knowing that this band, consisting of 4 amazing human beings, plan everything in advance i have a feeling that there will be an MCR5. It's just my thoughts: i believe that the foundations of decay was too amazing to not be released but didn't fit into the future album and they in fact plan to release an album after WWWY festival or on the same date as revenge but 20 years later. also they said many times that its not a nostalgia tour or smth and i think that coming back to tour with old songs only is not what they are up to, they now are in fact an active band so its obvious for me that they have more things to say. i remember when in 2013 after their break up i was confident that they will come back in 2019 bc they left us that hook in DD album. And they had hints and hooks everywhere in songs, videos, tours etc through all these years. However, i wouldn't mind if there will be no MCR5.
I do agree that we aren't owed a new album, but I do believe that they should be giving us some sort of info, they've been back together for nearly 7 years now and at very least some sort of confirmation or at least official teasers wouldn't be too much to ask
I fully agree, if we get a new album or content in general that would be rad but its perfectly fine if they never release anything again and no one should be acting as if they're owed it, plus if they are working on something people need to back off you cant rush art
Honestly, ever since they left in 2013 and haven't released a studio album since Danger Days..It will fill the empty void that has been lingering ever since. lol But we're probably not going to get anything like that so just look forward for what they're doing now
Well said 🙌 Fans shouldn’t place all their eggs in one basket if there is still a sense of false hope. And just because of these cryptic “leaks” and no credible sources confirm they’re in the studio. It can easily be refuted, I’m fine if MCR5 (some might say MCR6 because of conventional weapons) never happens. Sometimes, we should change the algorithm and focus on Taylor Swift’s 6 re-record projects which are reputation and her self titled debut left to re-record. Though I’m a bit delusional, I like to think MCR or Gerard collaborated with Taylor for reputation TV (because I want to distract myself from speculating about a hypothetical & refutable MCR5 and focus on something else for the time being, but I don’t expect that will happen either though Taylor has collaborated with emo artists before), sometimes you need to focus on something more prospective and then reimagine again, look for other artists you like that have potential new music.
I feel like mcr at the least should just release singles and then when those singles are enough to fit into a compilation, then yeah (kinda like conventional weapons)
I do agree that we aren't owed an album or any singles, B-sides or any other old content from the creation of the band (including live shows). Although I do think it's fun to hope for a new album/material as long as we don't go around spreading miss-information.
Hoping and dreaming is good, but I’ve seen fans do some extreme things for MCR5 info

@@EternallyUncoolTrevor Absolutely. Definitely won't be in 2024 if it happens at all.
