    • @ChambersFamilyOverland
      @ChambersFamilyOverland หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha never. This was my first full blown “fired.” I’ve been laid off in 08 during that whole mess, and in ‘15 I blew my knee out and couldn’t walk for 6 months, couldn’t keep me on the payroll during that down time. So this was a huge blow to my ego for sure. But lessons are always learned. This new venture is challenging, but I can already tell the difference in how they treat their employees.

      Companies that focus on retention do much better over the long haul for sure. Doesn't matter what generation you are from, knowing your boss cares is important!! Well hoping your new venture can fund your outdoor activities with the fam! Just getting rid of my air suspension on my rebel and getting Icons put on today. Hoping that will soften the ride a bit and not make me worry about the suspension dying on me.@@ChambersFamilyOverland

I am retired now but, I had faced a handful of work situations like yours in my work life. Each time after I went through the hell later it turned out for the better with time, but it was hard to see that at the time. I've been where you are right now. I have a degree in Machine Tool Technology. Worked 15 years as a CNC machinist for the same company. Then one Monday morning I went in to work and was laid off with no warning whatsoever. No reason given, except "economics". I was 60 years old. No job for the first time in my life, and , for some reason, nobody out there wanted to hire a 60 year old machinist, no matter how qualified I was. To make it worse, I had just bought my new Tacoma five days earlier. Hadn't even made the first payment yet. But we got through it. In spite of all the worries and uncertainty about the future, we are still here. You will be, too. And, as far as trigger therapy goes, I've found that a .223 bolt gun shooting a 10" disc at 500 meters is just as much fun as the big guns at 1000 meters + at half the cost (just so you know 🤣).

    • @ChambersFamilyOverland
      @ChambersFamilyOverland หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Very similar. I should have been a little more “aware” with the changes that were happening around me, and the differences of opinions and personalities. But I was doing my job well, so I was a bit oblivious. Horrible feeling. Ok, so this really tickles my curiosity haha. A .223 bolt would be a BLAST!!! I have a handful of repairs/upgrades to make to the steering on the truck, but I’m adding this to my wish list! Haha

    Sometimes you just can't control what happens, and companies these days definitely don't have any appreciation for good long term employees. Good to see you get out and reset at a favorite spot. Hope the new job is going well by now. Give everyone a hug for us

      Yeah, it was probably needed. I was humbled that’s for sure. The environment was getting real toxic, but I felt pretty indestructible, I was good at what I did and what I had done. But reality hit me and woke me up. Best believe I’ll be more aware in the future. The new venture… is easily the most challenging thing I’ve ever taken on. And that’s saying something 😂. One day at a time! Appreciate it

      @@swooshdave yeah there is a LOT. This is actually an old dispersed camp site. The road is washed out that leads to the main access. So we come in through various back roads (no gates no private) to get there. It’s fairly popular every time we’ve been there we see at least someone else. But it’s still pretty secluded

    For those who don't know, the glass isn't trash* It is volcanic Obsidian the source of arrowheads and knives. Mt. Paulina to the south is a volcano with two lakes and built out of obsidian with huge flow of glass. Glass Buttes are volcanic vents. Some cautions for the area. Don't camp up high above the lower ground plane/flats as this is a highly prone area for lightning as attested to by all the Apache Tears present in the area. Apache Tears are formed by lightning striking the ground. And if up high hiking around, if the weather looks like it might develop lighting, get back to camp and shelter, preferably in a vehicle or camper which isn't near a tree. Ticks. I for years have used Irish Spring soap to prevent a tick or ticks. Make a suds and apply it to all openings in your clothing. Around your ankles, waist, shirt sleeves, and neck. If you have a button up shirt, along the open line of the shirt on your stomach and chest. Don't wear shorts. In the fifty plus years I have been applying Irish Spring in this manner, I have never been bitten. i always carry a bar of Irish Spring in my Console or glove box or camper. Rattle snakes. Walk with a heavy footfall and slowly. Stay away from brush in the heat of the day. Rattle snakes like to hang from the branches to cool and in the shade of brush. And on warm nights use a flashlight as they often hunt at night. *(though, no doubt there is real trash left by numbskulls who have no real appreciation of nature).

    you exceeded the payload of the 2500, you would need a 3500 to handle the weight youre putting back there on the bed; its said that you'll run out of payload before towing capacity

      Yes I’m just over the limit. The new rack and setup is lighter. It’s the unfortunate side effect of a diesel in a 3/4 ton setup. I know for a fact the frame and axels are the same as a 1 ton, but I have a coil rear end vs leaf spring of the 3500. In fact on paper I’m probably LESS then factory rating because my suspension is considerably softer for off-roading. I’m working on another change that will lighten me up even more, but will probably be right around 9800 still 😂

    You must have a fuel leak problem with cap facing side ways. If you organized it better. You have a room for a 20ah LFP battery. I built two waterproof case heaters. One inside of the Ridgid case and the other inside the Apache 4800 case. They both have batteries inside.

      No fuel issue as I run it on its side. Carrying it it does, I have a follow up video for that. I’m going to do an entirely different setup here soon, I want something more apart of the truck… I have some thoughts, but I never considered onboard power. Interesting
