Glad things have picked back up for you! Hopefully the new job will be way less stress. I bet the family is glad to have you at home more often now. Can't wait to see you guys again! Thanks for sharing!
Love following you. Was following you on IG and was gonna try to connect with you guys with me and the wifey and our two Aussies. Got kicked off IG for whatever reason. My Ram is a Hemi but my build is almost identical thanks to you. Change and resets are sometimes scary. But usually work out well. Cheers mate.
Gorgeous spot! Life is really really good at throwing curve balls that don't always align with what we think it should look like. Proud of you for leaning into it and staying in the fight! You got this! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much Linda. This was a testament to my faith for sure. A lot of lessons were learned. I was humbled on many levels, discouraged over and over. But I have trust in his plan 🙏
I hope your new job is going well and you'll be much happier in your new career. It's wonderful that you have such a strong, loving family to help you through tough times. Hope you can all get out together soon for some outdoor therapy. 🫶
I think I will be. The day to day is challenging right now as it’s all new. But it’s a healthier environment that’s for sure! Yes both Courtney and the kids. When I came home, it was one thing to tell Court, but when the kids asked “why are you home?” That almost broke me. But it’s all lessons in life…
I've been where you are right now. I have a degree in Machine Tool Technology. Worked 15 years as a CNC machinist for the same company. Then one Monday morning I went in to work and was laid off with no warning whatsoever. No reason given, except "economics". I was 60 years old. No job for the first time in my life, and , for some reason, nobody out there wanted to hire a 60 year old machinist, no matter how qualified I was. To make it worse, I had just bought my new Tacoma five days earlier. Hadn't even made the first payment yet. But we got through it. In spite of all the worries and uncertainty about the future, we are still here. You will be, too. And, as far as trigger therapy goes, I've found that a .223 bolt gun shooting a 10" disc at 500 meters is just as much fun as the big guns at 1000 meters + at half the cost (just so you know 🤣).
Yes! Very similar. I should have been a little more “aware” with the changes that were happening around me, and the differences of opinions and personalities. But I was doing my job well, so I was a bit oblivious. Horrible feeling. Ok, so this really tickles my curiosity haha. A .223 bolt would be a BLAST!!! I have a handful of repairs/upgrades to make to the steering on the truck, but I’m adding this to my wish list! Haha
Glad you are out camping during this tough time, that is the best thing to do in good but also bad times. I am retired now but, I had faced a handful of work situations like yours in my work life. Each time after I went through the hell later it turned out for the better with time, but it was hard to see that at the time. The great thing is that you have a understanding partner in life (I did to). Camping in nature is the best for healing and helping to see things with a fresh lens. Congrats on a new upcoming job.
This nailed it on the head. Those first few weeks were dark and hard. Fighting with unemployment was messy and stressful but I won. And now this new venture is challenging but all in all it’s way better in every way haha. And without support… it would have been 1000x worse. I appreciate the kind words
Thanks for the honesty and not making up some GEN-Z story about how great getting fired is. Glad I work for a servant leader and not the opposite. Keeps me working for my company while I keep my photography biz humming along. Hadn't seen your rig around town, so wondered what happened. It matters how strong you come back!!!
Haha never. This was my first full blown “fired.” I’ve been laid off in 08 during that whole mess, and in ‘15 I blew my knee out and couldn’t walk for 6 months, couldn’t keep me on the payroll during that down time. So this was a huge blow to my ego for sure. But lessons are always learned. This new venture is challenging, but I can already tell the difference in how they treat their employees.
Companies that focus on retention do much better over the long haul for sure. Doesn't matter what generation you are from, knowing your boss cares is important!! Well hoping your new venture can fund your outdoor activities with the fam! Just getting rid of my air suspension on my rebel and getting Icons put on today. Hoping that will soften the ride a bit and not make me worry about the suspension dying on me.@@ChambersFamilyOverland
It’s tough being the main bread winner if not the only bread winner and having to make that call to the ones who count in you to tell them the news. But you know it’s all worth the work headaches and ups and downs when your wife responds like that and lifts you up. That’s family. You’ll be fine.
That… was a call that I never want to make again. And to be honest I don’t know what was worse, that or coming home and having to tell the kids. Brutal. I appreciate the support, this new venture certainly has a totally different vibe.
Oh I had no idea! Yeah lots of lessons were learned for sure. While I appreciate coming out stronger, this is a ride I’d soon not get back on if I can help it 😂. I’ll certainly be more aware of what’s going on around me going forward!
Sometimes you just can't control what happens, and companies these days definitely don't have any appreciation for good long term employees. Good to see you get out and reset at a favorite spot. Hope the new job is going well by now. Give everyone a hug for us
Yeah, it was probably needed. I was humbled that’s for sure. The environment was getting real toxic, but I felt pretty indestructible, I was good at what I did and what I had done. But reality hit me and woke me up. Best believe I’ll be more aware in the future. The new venture… is easily the most challenging thing I’ve ever taken on. And that’s saying something 😂. One day at a time! Appreciate it
It’s funny we were just out not too long ago, but every now and then a nice solo trip is needed to clear thoughts up. Look forward to seeing you soon Gary!
Hindsight is always 20/20 right? In the moment and moments soon after, I was livid. But being able to look back now, this was needed. The merry-go-round was spinning out of control 😂. Appreciate you guys, look forward to catching up soon
Always good to reset and have a wife that supports you in everything, that's half the battle right there. I have been blessed like you and also have a wife who supports me like that, her and I we are a team. I've always built on my relations with God and trusted Jesus at His word. Overtime I have learned that as my relationship grows and my Faith gets Stronger, I no longer fear anything. God always shows me a way and provides, even when situations look their worst we come out on top. I know a lot of people will think this is rubbish and that's OK but it's the truth, countless miracles over the years have built my Faith to a level of Granite. My friend Kevin Zadai dying and meeting Jesus also helps, I've learned a lot from that experience. We live in a crazy world and my Faith and Trust in Jesus has always kept me at Peace. Love the Ram and the set up their Great Trucks. Thanks for sharing not many people are capable of putting themselves out there like that. 👍God Bless

Glad to see your back. It's really difficult to work for some people. I have high hopes for you in your new adventure so good luck!

@@ChambersFamilyOverland I got a .22 conversion kit from bore buddy in Idaho and it has made shooting my AR's alot of fun, not to mention super cheap.

Dude. I was there 2 weeks ago in that same spot. Cool.
So proud of you! It makes me so happy to see you happier and I told you it’d all be fine. I love you! ❤️
Without you, this would have been a very difficult time 😊
