What is the constant ticking noise?
Pretty sure I mentioned its the fuel pump. Most of these diesel heaters are like that, Ive heard there are silent pump upgrades
@FlawedOffroad thank you, I was thinking of buying one but if it ticks like that constantly, it would drive me nuts.
Get ready for rust in about 48 hours
When installing rivnuts use nickel anti-seize, the more the better.
Thanks for taking the time to make this man. I’m gonna get me one of these welders
While this is a good machine, I would honestly recommend the 250 pro model instead. It costs a little more $ ($499 right now) but you get so much more machine. I have a video about that welder as well here:th-cam.com/video/dN-sYkyy66Q/w-d-xo.html or you can check it out here on the website bit.ly/3B9Zg2k
I've seen dozens of videos on putting new fenders on a JK, but this is the first video I've ever seen that shows you how to remove the old ones without destroying all kinds of stuff in the process.
@@theezeelife292 I mean the clips are one time use no matter what so those get destroyed every time pretty much. They are not the kind that you can get out gently and reuse. Luckily you can get replacements online for dirt cheap(if a guy was trying out put stocks back on)
Thanks for the tip. Looks pretty good. My fenders are cut. May be time for an upgrade.
@@Thexkidd i’m pretty happy overall they just take a little bit of jockeying. In the future I will probably slot out the holes some more so I can raise the front fenders
I have a 2000 Jeep tj I thinking I need tube fenders I picked up way bigger wheels and a 5 inch lift for it. But I gotta fix the floors and body mounts. I’m lucky I have a bro in law that can make me the pieces I need. He has started a bussiness doing car things and most vehicles. And metal fab. He really good. A cert mechanic as well. Me and him well he did we put all new brake lines on the Jeep. I like both your jeeps.
Check their site, I think they have stuff for older jeeps too
@ will do
Better late than never kudos for some nice work! 🤟 Hope ya remembered to add the gear oil. Lol.
Yes I did haha and it was nice having the traction at badlands. Still wasn't enough to get up V notch, apparently only the yota boys in our group could make it. Hoping to get that wheeling video out soon but I had/still have some product vids I have to put out first.
Nice job buttoning down the loosey-lazy stuff and making it proper and most likely safer🎉
Yeah it was bothering me being all tangled, I’ve become a bit of a wiring snob. Now if I would just take apart my jeep and fix the wiring that 12 years ago me did 😂
Going through this right now hahaha didnt realize the exhaust was way thicker, got choppy idle and running very rich almost blew my cat out lol
Its so dumb that these parts makers cant just make it the right size.
Great !
very in depth video . better than other videos about this heater
Thanks. I was not expecting this to get viewed so much, It was just a little experiment but I'm glad it's helpful.
That clicking is a deal breaker for me
@@MudMonsterRacing4 I’ve heard you can get silent pumps for them.
Unless you're freezing your ass off
@@talusranch990 There's plenty of other ways to heat.
Don't quite understand these vids. If you put a little insulation in the garage, you can heat it with one or two 1500 watt heaters. I heat mine down to the 20s this way. Gets it to the low 60s at least. And my garage door is uninsulated wood/masonite. INSULATION!
@@roadrunner3563 I don’t know if you looked around anywhere during the video the entire garage is insulated including the roof lol
Almost wonder if you attached the output to HVAC vents along your loft with a few off chutes if that would spread the heat more.
Not sure this thing has enough output to make that viable.
What's the Sq. Ft. of the garage? , Also, remember that all the steel in the garage has to be heated up as well.
think its about 22x24 or somewhere around that.
Your wasting so much heat/time with the heater so high up, you need it as low as possible for best results and quicker heat time
I like the fairlead but not the price which is almost half the price of the winch
@@TheArozconpollo can’t buy steak for hotdog prices man
I bought 2 8kw for my 2 car fully insulated garage. It was 50 degrees outside and it took 3 hours to raise the temp 10 degrees. I’m not impressed with them at all. They don’t maintain even. I had the temp up to 67 shut one off and it drop down to 63 in an hour. Mind you 50 degrees outside I’m gonna keep them and use them for my fish house
I mean they are meant to heat a car or a tent, not a full size garage. This was just an experiment for me and I largely had the same results. Although it was much colder when I did it which is harder to raise the temp. It does help my other heater get the shop warm faster though. If you had a storage container sized shop that would probably be the max.
Does those louvers cause a lot of rain water get in there on your motor?
@@tonyparson4392 yep lol. Doesn’t hurt anything mostly but I wouldn’t run these if your only parking outside. Mine lives in the garage but I’ve left it out in the weather for months. Not like the water gets inside the engine.
Thank you for the reply back. I put a small block Chevrolet in my YJ And I kind of went overboard and put a show car motor everything on it is chrome and I was thinking about this, but I think I better figure something else out. Lol.
@@tonyparson4392 I have a solution for you. 5.9 Jeep ZJ ( mid 90's Grand Gherokee) came with factory hood vents, they have a drip tray built into them that you can route the water away. Only came on the 5.9 v8 though. I have a set of them in the garage
Shocked it runs 6010!
Why? 6010 is pretty basic. Is there a stick welder besides an AC only tombstone that wont run 6010?
Man. Feels like a preview of what I'm in for. 😂
@@SimplyMustGo you should watch the one before this one lol that’s even more so
Definitely if you run a exhaust heat exchanger you get more out that unit..
You’re a good friend to help your buddy.
That's what friends are for(even if this was a big job), plus he is the best camp chef ever! He feeds my whole family all weekend when we go to badlands haha. Fair trade indeed
@@FlawedOffroadawesome
As far as the spool, I have heard of guys running the tc in 4lo, passenger hub locked, and driver hub unlocked until needed. Have you tried that? Sounds like a nuisance getting in and out of the jeep all the time, but cheaper than a selectable locker. Your paint scheme looks like mine. I have a can of white spray paint for body touch up (stock white XJ) and black for the under body. Whenever I have a random can of black I paint the underside wherever the rust is sprouting up.
@@benjaminreinhardt259 I just ran with it locked it just made for stiff ass steering but I have Hydro assist so it’s not terrible. But I made sure to unlock it every time it was time to head back to camp haha. I ran eight years with a lunchbox locker in the front so I was kind of used to it already, although with one of those when you go to 2 Wheel Dr. it kind of slips like an open, unlike the spool.
Vroom Vroom Beep beep! 23:00 love it!
@@MalarkeyTaylor he’s gonna be my wheelin buddy very soon. I think when my daughter was that age I had already take her Offroad
Hey man, been enjoying your channel. Just sort of breaking into the YJ world and tryna learn stuff and your content has been great for this. Right now mine is fully stock, but I'd love to slowly work my way towards a more fun build. I came across the Poison Spyder full cage on extreme terrain for $1200 while window shopping. Ya, thats twice as much as yours... but with the price increase you mentioned on that front cage kit, and then all the extra stuff you had to do to reinforce the rear it seems like just getting a full kit could be a viable option? I do like the idea of just modifying the stock cage... seems like a fun project. I'm a novice welder and don't have a tube bender and all that but if it can be done with mostly straight tubing or if there's a kit out there that has pre-bent stuff, that would be neat. Alright, I'm rambling, I'll shut up lol. Thanks again for the content, keep it up
@@tateshepherd523 that sounds like a good deal I thought it used to be more. I hate the stanchions the ps cage uses though it’s so hard to get your feet in and out of the jeep. They basically go straight down from the dash by the speaker to the floor.
@@FlawedOffroad Good feedback on that cage thanks! Sounds like the DIY version gives you more control and saves some costs. Thanks for the response!
@ keep in mind those prices I gave were pre-the last two or three rounds of inflation so it might not be all that viable anymore to go that route and save a bunch of money

That diff can’t be good on turns. Did you break any axle u joints
it made the steering pretty bad on the trails but with the lockouts Im able to disconnect it for street driving or getting to/from trails. Im more concerned my mile marker lockouts are going to explode. But it made it through 3 days of wheeling no prob! I ran a front lunchbox locker for 8 years so I am used to horrible front steering on the trail haha but I cant wait to get the 60 in with the selectable
Bout damn time bro. Keep up the good work 😁

Thank you for making this video! I have to do this soon to my 08 JKU Rubicon as well as the hubs and rotors. Will probably do this all at once since I'll be under it taking it apart. Just makes sense, but I do have one question. My Jeep sits on 20" wheels and 35 tires, I've noticed that the steering seems loose and touchy. Ball joints, drag link, tierod/end, and sway bar have all been replaced recently as well (Within the last year). What can I do to tighten up this steering in this Jeep? Picture the old farmer in the cartoons where the steering wheels moves left and right a lot while he is driving but not turning. Lol
I have seen in several JK's especially ones that have been on large tires for alot of miles, where the slop is in the steering box. Its hard to explain how to check it but grab a buddy and have them saw the steering wheel back/forth while you lay underneath and look at the track bar ends, all steering joints, pitman arm etc. also have someone only move the wheel as far as the slop is and see if the pitman arm is even moving. All the slop could be in the steering shaft or box. Hope that helps. P.S. I have seen several brand new tie rods and drag links be sloppy from brand new especially if its parts house junk. Seen Jeeps with 5000 miles have clapped factory steering.
if you dont think you can figure it out, search out your local offroad shop and ask them to check out the front end. That accounts for probably half the jobs I do at work at a Jeep/Truck accessory shop. We do lifts and all kinds of stuff but I do so much suspension and steering work to correct death wobble and loose steering or even terrible tire wear. Good luck
@@FlawedOffroad I'm not sure what the ball joints are, they were done at the dealership just before I took delivery of this Jeep. But I know the drag link and tie rods are from Moog, ordered and install them myself. Will have a friend help with the moving, or just stick my go pro under the Jeep and set it to record and watch the video while doing it myself. If the pitman isn't moving, when doing this, how would I diagnose it down to the steer shaft or the box between the two? I'm in no way afraid to tear into this and wrench on it myself, but if something does seem complicated, I will sit there and read as much documentation and watch as many repair videos as I need to before attempting. :)
@@FlawedOffroad As for a local offroad shop, we don't have any here in Highlands County, Fl. I have to drive a good 60miles north before I hit one and they're all by appointment only. It sucks really, and the only time this Jeep see's off-road use is during hunting season around the WMA's.

Yankum fairlead doesn't protect the rope loop from UV. No thanks. I have a Badland Apex and agree with you there though. Great winches for the money. Got a problem? Return it.
Neither does any other setup out there. Some ropes have a dipped loop, and the loop can be retied if it gets cooked. Yankum has a video on doing it I believe its called a brummel lock splice, its the same knot it gets shipped with.

Those gears fought the whole way... lol. The next one will be a one shot-er
@@DaddyJeepGarage they were never that far off but just far enough that I wasn’t happy with it lol
Nice work, Dan. Me thinks you may need to give me a welding lesson. Lol. 🙂
@@wrm3016 Thanks Randy! My old instructor gave me this sound advice: Half the battle is a steady hand, drink less coffee & eat more p**sy!😄😄 not sure how the second part helps with the shakes but…. It’s for science right?
Interesting video, I found it looking up non Jeep stuff. Two comments: 1.) Track bars define the roll center height. There are good reasons to want it at a different height than the inherent height from leaf spring. That’s where perceptions of more body roll come in. 2.) It should be possible to avoid the track bar induced bump steer with proper design, but OEMs love to mismatch links and barely cobble together something that kind of works at stock ride height.

What do you need to do for a Ford rear end and all the tools you need to put it in all the stuff you need to do to it to put in a Yj and all the tools I want something I can plug and play in I don't need a whole lot of tool anything like that I can do with hand tools
@@KennethWarren1935 that’s a very broad question, there really is no plug-in play axle swaps they all require a little bit welding and a little bit of modification. Best bet is to look on the old forums like jeepforum, there’s several posts that go into great detail on what you need to swap in a ford 8.8
Does your welding table in the background have a wood top underneath the metal top ? If so , welding doesn’t get it too hot . (I’m getting ideas to build one)
No its just 1/2" thick steel top. I rarely have it cleaned off enough to even weld on it......Need a bigger shop.
