    I think this Bearing Buddy is more of a way to add grease without the disassembly. This means manual packaging of the bearings first, then installing this product for proper lubrication.

    Hey no LOOKING at the star wheel. Model T technology in the 21st century. I jacked up my trailer and put jack stands on four corners,lioke you suggested, but did not expect that the shakles would twist down and the axles would drop, so I jacked the unloaded axles up and blocked to finish the adjustment. Could you please advise others of this hazard. Scared the $%#@ out of me. The manual states, "Do not jack under the axles". I appreciate and have learned a valuable lesson about how to get a trailer lifted, Thanks.

    Question: I had my dual axle camping trailer inspected and they used a jack on the back side of the break plate to raise it to test my break away and inspect the break pads. That summer the inside of the tires on that axle wore down to needing replacement but not the front axle that he did not lift. Could he had changed the bend in the axle enough to cause this. I carry a pull-on or back-on ramp in the event that I need to change a flat tire. Also I would like to commend you on great videos on the maintenance on trailers.

    Great video. I am diagnosing very weak brakes on my 7k axles. I have not been diligent with adjusting brakes, so I think I have bad magnets as the one I tested, there was a pull there, but it was not strong. I have since adjusted the brakes, but very little braking force was gained. I'm going to watch your adjusting video just to make sure I am doing it right. But, if I have a weak magnetic force, would you lean towards wiring or a bad magnet? Thanks!

    We could have removed the lug nuts by hand on the 5th wheel RV that we had just purchased and towed 50 miles to home!! That was 17 years ago, we now stretch those bolts prior to every trip, while on every trip and twice after repacking the bearings. Kinda goes along with checking tire pressures.

      @TheTrailerSmith วันที่ผ่านมา

      Checking the lug nuts cannot be stressed enough! And the same goes for the lug nuts on your car/truck, especially after getting new tires or having tires rotated. Pretty much any time those wheels come off, you have to check those lug nuts frequently at first to make sure they have not backed off. Keep at it! Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the video, great job. I had some interesting conversations awhile back with two gentlemen; one works for a well known company that sells trailer components online, the other a local RV mechanic. The conversation centered on WHO IS RESPONSIBLE for the final brake setup when you buy a brand new travel trailer. The trailer manufacturer? The dealer? The buyer? Bottom line: do NOT assume that if you buy a brand new travel trailer that the brakes have been initially adjusted. This was certainly the case with my brand new trailer which came with Lippert self-adjusting brakes. The brakes were never initially adjusted to the correct 'starting' position. One side self-adjusted more or less correctly, the other did not. So braking was uneven until I finally figured out what was happening. I'll never buy self-adjusting again.

    My 2013 RV has the breakaway switch's power lead directly hooked to the RV house battery (there is no controller box). When the lanyard is pulled the brake system gets the batteries full 12 VDC power. Assuming the brakes are adjusted and in good condition it would potentially lock up the trailer brakes as the DOT had mentioned to you. Thanks for all the great videos they have been a big help verifying what I already know and teaching me things that I should know.

    You need a small barrel of grease with an air compressor to do all that pumping or use a battery operated grease gun. Work smarter not harder. Just my 2 cents

    • @TheTrailerSmith
      @TheTrailerSmith 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Applying grease with electric or pneumatic devices is a surefire way to blow the seal out. It's why I recommend in the video to use a hand pump grease gun. Easier isn't always better.

    • @TheTrailerSmith
      @TheTrailerSmith 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In my area DOT will pull the clip from the system and instruct the driver to pull forward. If the trailer moves and the brakes don't lock up, they issue a citation based on the misunderstanding that the breakaway system should lock up brakes when engaged. When the reality is that the breakaway system is designed to engage the brakes in a way that helps to bring the trailer to a slow stop. It should not be a lock up situation. Thanks for watching the channel!

      Thanks! Sorry about that. We did have quite a time with our mics not holding our settings. And probably some user error in there somewhere. We have it fixed now in our latest videos. Thanks for watching.

    Good morning I replace the brakes on my dump trailer about a year and a half ago never used it. I tried to use it this week not breaking took the out and there was grease on the brake pads. clean brake pads with sandpaper, clean drums, brake cleaner and sandpaper, and still not breaking enough. Any recommendation thank you

    So we won’t talk about me dragging a rental utility trailer full of camping equipment across Colorado and Wyoming at interstate speeds and off road. Oops!!

    I got tired of chasing wires, especially grounds. I ran grounds and power from terminal boxes which I placed at the front of the trailer to each light. Used marine grade duplex and triplex. No more poor grounds or chasing issues.

    I happen to have a 5 on 5 but accidentally purchased a 5 on 4.5 spare rim. Found out 300 miles away from home on a Sunday evening outside of Marshall TX, with my tractor loaded on it while I was moving from TX to OH. There was nobody open or that wanted to come out.

    Again that axle you chose never had been greased using the EZ-Lube zerk. You should use one that did to criticize.
