You can get better leverage pulling seal by temporarily putting tire on hub with 2 lug nuts.

Thanks for the video and info. Can you do a video on when the hub assembly should be replaced? The shoes on my 7k lb axle sitting between 5/32" and 6/32" and I'm wondering if they should be replaced in preparation for the upcoming RV travel season. Thanks

Great idea! We should do a video on that. On the drum, check the magnet contact surface. If it’s grooved or wavy, then the drum needs to be replaced. Also, check for wear where the shoes contact the drum. If you have a ridge on the outer rim or if the surface is worn below the chamfered edge, it needs to be replaced.
On the shoes, manufacturers recommend replacing no later than at 1/16” thickness. I don’t like to let mine get that thin. By that point you will usually have heat or stress cracking. Yours are getting pretty close, it sounds like. If it were me, I would probably go ahead and replace rather than do it in the middle of rv season.
