Watch this video and get pumped to find out that you can change one setting and all your station run times will be changed instantaneously! Like magic but not, well, unless you don't understand how it works then I guess it is magic then. At any rate, you can be that magician simply by watching this video. Why not just watch it all the way through so you aren't back here watching it again later on because you skipped over a detail. Just throwing that option out there. The seasonal adjust feature is found on most brands whether it be Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Orbit, or any other control whether it be a smart controller or a regular sprinkler controller like this Hunter Pro-C one I am using for this video. If you have read this far in the description, high-five. ✋. Ok that is enough jibber jabber, let's get to watching and doing. Until next time, chau!

Sprinkler System Start-Up With Back-flow Preventer
Quick question, what is the recommended overlap to install the sprinklers?
Usually I try to have double coverage everywhere as a standard - head to head if that makes sense
Are these Rain Bird system parts? I have purchased the RB bug guard and stakes and found them not to hold the tubing well and the bug guard comes off easily. What you are using seems sturdier and better designed.
Clarifying for video only showed 1 selenoid wire connected to white wire. if you have 4 zones, all 4 zone selenoids will have 1 of the 2 red wires connected to the white wire? Is this correct? What is this white wires purpose? Thank You
That is correct. The common wire completes the circuit to the sprinkler clock.
Answers the question of whether a Rain Bird collar works on a Hunter stem.
in french, please !
I could possibly do Spanish but I don’t know French. Just open Google translate while it plays and it should translate it on the fly.
@@thesprinklerchannel Merci !
We’ll worth the time. Thank you
Great explanation ! Do these drains ever crack and malfunction ? And what would be the symptoms of this failure ?
If malfunction and stays open = constantly soggy area. Never open = pipes freeze and crack. I haven’t come across too many issues
Man, you are very clear and easy to follow.Thank you so much for your help.
How do you adjust a factory set 360 deg to 180???
Sounds like you have a full circle head which is not adjustable. You will need to get a part circle head into order to achieve 180.
My rainbird is not rotating, what could be the difference problem?
The gears could be stripped or just worn out after many years of use if no change of water pressure has occured
@ thank you
Well crap...you need a special tool for this shit!?
The hunter adjustment tool unfortunately
@@thesprinklerchannel I got them, thanks, not to bad once you figure it out.
The best
should you heat the end of the funny pipe?
I could but I don’t like changing any of the plastics deforming. Dish soap could also help.
Better to turn the small plastic knob anti clockwise as turning the solenoid creates a chance of fatigue on solenoid wires.
I haven’t had any issues with solenoid wires and if I use the bleeder valves then water leaks into the valve box. That’s my opinion why I prefer this way.
Great video thank you for the helpful information. We recently bought a house in Denver, CO with a sprinkler system and I see a King drain in the manifold box with the valves. Would that indicate that there are probably others buried in the lines? Is there a way to find out/test for them? And if I don't have them in the lines and need to blow out the system will the compressed air just blow through the King drain in the manifold box. Would I need to cap it somehow so the air doesn't leak out? Thanks for your help.
If possible, ask previous owner if via your real estate agents if they would blow out their sprinkler system each year. If they didn’t then system probably will be fine. If they had freeze breaks then probably should be blown out. Blowing out the system shouldn’t hurt the kind drains and water should get pushed out the sprinkler heads instead. Probably put it in the valve box so when the system was turned off it would self winterize but only if that is the lowest point on the line and I wouldn’t want all the water going into the valve box personally.
@@thesprinklerchannel Great, thanks so much for the help and info. I'll talk with our agent to see if we can get answers!
Thanks!
Thank you so much @wmcb1465!
So where does one obtain the Hunter adjustment tool?
Any store that sells the head should also sell the tool. For sure a sprinkler supply only store
Thanks for the info. The three lowest points on my slope have been draining through the sprinkler heads and caused erosions. For now I capped those three sprinkler risers. How should I install those automatic drains in a way to reduce puddles and avoid erosions down the slope?
Might want to check out this video but will depend on how great the slops is.
If rotary heads might just want to see about best rotary with check valve for greatest slope
One of my zone does not run, I checked wire is good and water supply is good. I think solenoid went bad. Have you seen solenoid went bad before? I really hope I don’t have to replace the whole valve, I’m new to this. Have been watching TH-cam video on how to fix it
Very rare that it’s the solenoid. Use multimeter if you haven’t already to confirm wiring voltage etc. usually it is corrosion on exposed wire. Make sure not terminal at clock by using different terminal for that zone. Also could swap solenoids after turning off water to see if problem follows solenoid to different valve.
This was so helpful! Thank you for the clear explanation!
Why am I having such a problem fitting the nozzle into the body
Make sure it’s the right one for the head. Lots of different ones. Then make sure it goes in at the given angle. Takes some force, with water might be easier.
All my solenoids were tightened full and valve still open. Does that mean the valve is bad or debris inside?

See if the video I shared from my videos helps resolve your issue.
Oh yeah, they said this was easy . They said anyone can do this .....NOT.
Thanks for the clear info. Question: how long of a run can I make from my valve box to my clock?
18AWG should go up to 850 ft
@@thesprinklerchannel thank you!
Thanks so much. As you know, the "instructions" on the body of the sprinkler are very bad.
Great video, but do have a question about my situation specifically. The nozzle on mine is spraying down at the base and out very hard which is not allowing the grass to grow and exposing the dirt. Way too forceful, so what do I need to do? Is there a nozzle that allows it to just mist this area instead? Thanks in advance.
Sounds like either nozzle or head is installed incorrectly. I would check both. Nozzle seated properly and set screw down enough to retain the nozzle without movement and head buried flush with soil and head perpendicular to ground surface when activated.

Please post link to your video explaining the “correct” way and your location as to understand climate where you are located. Thanks
He did everything correct. This kind is designed to easily be removed each winter to prevent freezing and cracking. Yes, they are expensive and a mistake will cost $$ but in the spring you can replace the check valve and you're good to go. Blowing out the water with compressed air is the best way to make sure the pipes wont freeze and crack over the winter.
Does the radius adjustment work properly when watering?
Could you explain a little more as to make sure I understand your question fully?
I am very new to sprinklers and was kind of worried about installing the Rain Bird 3500 sprinklers I just bought today. Your explaination was concise and very easy to understand. Thank You!

Turn head to right. Remove head from body. Set arrow to desired right set. Reinstall. ✅
WHERE I CAN GET CHECK VALVE FOR WATER DRAIN FROM SPRINKLER HEAD FOR RAIN BRID #42SA
Your best bet is going to be either online or your local sprinkler supply store.
No luck after messing with these for two weeks. I'm just going to hire someone. Sucks!
I’m sorry this wasn’t more helpful. Might need replacing if they are giving you too much issues / aren’t adjusting as explained.
Why a slip-fix instead of just the coupler?
When you aren’t not able to have enough flex in pipe - usually because it is buried in the ground.
Thank you sir. You are the only one that has a video on this exact issue. Much appreciated, off to the hardware store for another tool
Nicely done
What is the life expectancy of the Automatic drain? Any idea at the end of their life span or failure do they lock open or closed?
I imagine it probably has a lot to do with how dirty the irrigation water is / hard water. Probably help extend life if laid in a bed of small size aggregate to keep dirt away from it when buried with the pipe.
so with one white wire how do i hook that up to seven other solinoids???
Same box all wire nuted together. Another box cut and wire nut both ends together with common wires of that box then the wire will continue on to next valve box where this process is repeated however many times needed.
thanks for the vid!
Great explanation
So when I turn valve on at station, all sprinklers come on fine. But on my Main Rainbird system, it shows no sprinklers in that zone. Does this sound like bad wiring at the station or at the Main Rainbird system in garage?
I’d check corrosion on wirings in box and then at the clock.
Occasional a really old clock might give up the ghost 💀
Thanks for the Great info .
This video gave me the exact concise explanation i was looking for
You just made my day with your easy tutorial. Thank you
Hello, what's the 5% of the time? I replaced everything but the housing and it still does not turn off.
Did you flush the entire system thoroughly? Need to also make sure you are flushing the right valve. Replacing parts won’t fix if some tiny pebble or debris still in line.
For me it is ALWAYS a fried HUNTER (POS) wifi controller. I got 4yrs out of the 1st one and 1yr out of the second one.
Thank you so much! The instructions that came with the hunter heads were terrible i kept trying to adjust the radius and it wouldn't move the right side. Was getting super frustrated till you mentioned it only adjusts the left side on the set screw thank you!
