Hi, I just moved into my house and it has an old Orbit sprinkler unit like this that plugs into the wall in the garage. Is it safe to remove or unplug the wires? I don’t plan on using the sprinklers apparently they haven’t been used in a very long time.

Great video. I have one problem though. I have a total of seven zones. One on side of the house the ither on the other side. I replaced three valves on one side. I got two of them to work manually and from the sprinkler box. The third will turn on manually, but will not turn on at the sprinkler box. I have gone through every wire to see if it will work, nothing. Ive connected it to the common wire and the other wire from the solenoid to the correct corresponding color in the sprinkler box too. Still not working. Plus, the other four on the opposite side of my house do not turn on from the sprinkler box. Sorry, long question, but i appreciate any guidance.

I have a huge problem with people walking by and just kicking my sprinklers, snapping them off inside the pipe, which is a mongrel to get the broken piece out of the riser and the pipe fitting t piece This may help, sometimes they walk by and just undo them for fun so water goes everywhere, then of course the cars that drive on them, a real PIA Cheers for this From Australia, the land of restrictions and a mongrel PM Albanese

you should go over side/center strips as well as corner sprays.

If you want to wire two different valves that are say 10' apart do you have to run a separate wire or is there a way to continue on the same wire from the first valve to the second?

I just installed a new solenoid and when I turn on the timer the solenoid just make a “click” sound and it’s really hot. This is the 3rd solenoid and I can’t seem to find the problem, I also replaced the timer, it’s an internatic .😢

Better to have the funny pipe for flexibility. If its straight on the pvc you've got to be careful with careless gardens.

they should make couplers w/o the stops and just a bit longer so you can slide it in and than back into the other end. That would produce a better seal. This guy should have simulated the repair job better by fixing the pipe to wood. Plus the parts are $.50 and $4 so if you are gonna bother to do a fix it vid please splurge the five bucks after all you are the Sprinkler Channel.

Does it matter which wire goes to the on/off wires of the solenoid valve? It sounds like it doesn't matter from the video.

Are these Rain Bird system parts? I have purchased the RB bug guard and stakes and found them not to hold the tubing well and the bug guard comes off easily. What you are using seems sturdier and better designed.

Clarifying for video only showed 1 selenoid wire connected to white wire. if you have 4 zones, all 4 zone selenoids will have 1 of the 2 red wires connected to the white wire? Is this correct? What is this white wires purpose? Thank You

Better to turn the small plastic knob anti clockwise as turning the solenoid creates a chance of fatigue on solenoid wires.

Great video thank you for the helpful information. We recently bought a house in Denver, CO with a sprinkler system and I see a King drain in the manifold box with the valves. Would that indicate that there are probably others buried in the lines? Is there a way to find out/test for them? And if I don't have them in the lines and need to blow out the system will the compressed air just blow through the King drain in the manifold box. Would I need to cap it somehow so the air doesn't leak out? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info. The three lowest points on my slope have been draining through the sprinkler heads and caused erosions. For now I capped those three sprinkler risers. How should I install those automatic drains in a way to reduce puddles and avoid erosions down the slope?

One of my zone does not run, I checked wire is good and water supply is good. I think solenoid went bad. Have you seen solenoid went bad before? I really hope I don’t have to replace the whole valve, I’m new to this. Have been watching TH-cam video on how to fix it

Why am I having such a problem fitting the nozzle into the body

All my solenoids were tightened full and valve still open. Does that mean the valve is bad or debris inside?
