  • Hey Everyone! As they say, "But wait! There's more!". After making the initial video about the Rain Bird 5000 Series Rotor head along with the Rain Bird 5000 Nozzle video, I realized I still left some details out and wanted to share them with you all, so here is Part 2 with those last few things. In this one, I talk about (3) more key features of the Rain Bird 5000 Series Rotor head with an additional bonus tool that I wish I knew about years ago! Let us know what other videos would be helpful for you all working on your sprinklers or issues you are coming across. Thanks for watching and so happy to hear many people are finding them useful / helpful. Stay tuned for more videos on sprinkler parts you are bound to come across in your efforts to keep your lawn green and looking good!

      See part 1 under our videos to make sure it is adjusted correctly. If still not working it could be defective or possibly low pressure issues.

    I also have brown areas in front of the sprinklers- each one. Is there a way to get coverage on that 3-4 foot space directly in front, like the dual spray pop ups provide?

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Donna, great question and glad you are knowledgeable about the dual spray pop ups / undercuts. There is not a way per se without changing the screw to deflect the water but you may want to see if the head is positioned deep enough in the ground so the top is flush with the soil (not grass). This will make sure it is not coming out / popping up too high and thus spray over the short distances. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find that works!

    Thanks for the 3 videos on the 5000. What if it's stuck in one position only after working fine for months? It can be twisted to spray in different directions manually, but it just stays there and doesn't rotate. Do the internals need to be replaced? Thanks!

    My current 5000 heads send an arched ‘jet’ spray that does not get much water under the jet spray’s arch. How can I lessen the jet to increase the ‘spray ‘ coverage ? A wider holed nozzle ? Thanks

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure there are nozzles installed, if so use the set screw to reduce distance and flatten out spray. That may or may not be the answer to your question. They designed to get good coverage without using set screw. May want to look at pressure at head, too high may cause issues. Another solution may be installing different nozzle. Check out nozzle videos.

      You probably have a full circle version, you will need to replace it with a part circle type so that you can adjust how much it rotates.

    • @thesprinklerchannel

      I am sure there are a lot of variables that will play into their longevity including but not limited to usage amount, sun exposure amount, surrounding soil types, wear and tear from lawn maintenance equipment, correct installation, etc. But I would guess a solid 10+ years if installed and maintained properly.

    I had installed a 5000 series , but some one stepped on the head and now the pop up is rotating 360 degrees on and on.. it's not rotating back ... Is it repairable ...? I tried adjusting the screw that control the angle, but no change...

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s odd it did that by just someone stepping on it. If you are adjusting the arc and nothing is happening then it could very well need replacing. Typically they have heads that are full circles (FC) that will do the 360 on and on. So as long as you are sure you didn’t install one of those.

    How do I adjust the left side of the arc?

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Tim, I think the info you are wanting is found in Part 1 of the video for the Rain Bird 5000. If you just go to The Sprinkler Channel and click on videos you should easily be able to find Part 1 which will discuss this in more detail.
      After thinking more about your question, I think you are saying how to change the starting position aka fixed side of the sprinkler head. If so, great question! You should be able to push down on the top of the head while its operating with your palm and twist it back left a little to change the left/fixed position. If you can't get that to work for you, you can unscrew the top out of the body pull it up and then reinstall it with the left point where you need the fixed side to be (just make sure it is off and the head is rotated all the way to the left before doing. Let me know if this answers / solves your problem. Hope this helps!

      @@thesprinklerchannel HI! From what I have seen in your Rainbird 5000 heads, is the best way to move the left stop to the right is to remove the rotator from the body, twist rotator to the right to align left stop, then insert the rotator back into the body?

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be the FC or Full Circle rotor head in which it would just keep rotating and not adjust. You will want to replace it with a PC or part circle rotor. This is my guess with what is happening. Let me know if that is the issue or if there is additional info. Thanks

I returned mine, because I had to keep manually pulling up the head & get soaked💦. And that wasn't going to work for me. My irrigation timer goes off 3am trying to combat these record high temps. Maybe it was my water 💧 pressure. But I wasn't impressed with the coverage, the reach was nice, but the rain curtain technology, didn't give what it was suppose too. But what I did purchase, that blew me away. It had some not so favorable reviews was the Melnor 65064-AMZ Hideaway Sprinkler with QuickConnect. It has a 2 pass system. This is the most absurd product I have ever seen. A two part video just to show you how to set it up. If I have to go through a two part video to set a sprinkler up, I just won't buy it. You know, you might not think so, but there is a value to time. So, imagine that, you buy a product, then you have to go through TH-cam to try and pick which video will help you set up a RainBird sprinkler, and then you have to spend 45 minutes watching videos to learn how to set up a frigging sprinkler. Hello?
