I bought mine in 2014 and it is still going strong. IT is wonderful for birding with it's massive zoom.

Yes, many people bought it just for birding and it's done the job. All the best. Carl

I own this camera and it will retire with me. Good for birds and even landscapes. I live near Barcelona and use it also in the city to have good shots of distants monuments and buildings. Versatile and very good all round camera. Thanks for the good video

Thank you for this video! So nice to hear from you and see you still using HX400V! It’s always nice to listen to your calm storytelling! Also I have this camera and I bought it mainly because of your videos. I use HX400V quite often especially on sunny days and I have managed to take few pictures that I am satisfied with. The small sensor size has it’s limitations, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem in all images.

Very beautiful pictures. I use the HX400 V primarily for its long zoom lens that makes bird photography so much easier. For street photography I use the Sony RX100

Im glad to see youre still using this! I just picked this camera up from ebay. Came in the mail today.
My 1st camera was a Sony CD Mavica. In 2007 I invested in a Sony H7 (15x zoom, 8.4 M. Pixels) which went on a trip to Ireland with me. My Wife has had a Sony HX50 for the past 10 years (super compact, 30x zoom, same sensor as the HX400. Its about to kick the bucket) Obviously I'm a fan of Sony cameras. I love the Zeiss Lenses! Now i gotta get out and see what i can do with this one.

12/8/23 I use Sony, Olympus, and Nikon cameras digital camera in today's world since about 2011 when digital image quality level for me got as good as shooting film along with using post production software to enhance the images. The advantage of Sony bridge camera is a nice compact zoom camera for multi image use that makes it so you don't need to carry a shoulder bag of camera gear in with most features of Sony lens exchangeable so when upgrading to my Sony SLT camera I can use Sony af lenses or my vintage Minolta Maxxum AF lenses with a larger sensor and shoot in RAW and jpeg. If I want to got to a smaller and more compact camera I use my Olympus OM-D mirror-less camera that has great image quality and also shoots in RAW and JPEGs along with video and image stabilization. The still cameras along with having video are great with recording as Kodak would say, "The times of our lives".

    Thanks for the nice video.
I love your sense of humor.
The HX400V is my favorite bridge camera. And I have several different bridge cameras between Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Lumix. I enjoy comparing them by taking the same picture and seeing the different results. Overall, the pecking order of what I have is, Sony HX400V and HX300, Canon SX60 tied with Lumix FZ70, Canon SX50, Nikon P510, P530, Lumix FZ200, Canon SX540, SX530.
I wish I had such editing skills.
Is there an app or program you used?

Thanks for the kind words. That is quite a list of cameras. I'd need ten fingers on each hand to use them. I have Microsoft's HD Movie Maker Pro. Movie Maker comes on Windows and then it costs about $10 U.S. to upgrade to pro. It's all I really need. All the best.

I have the HX300V, love it for moon shots but sadly it has had the E62:10 lens error a few times and repaired a few times while under the extended Mack Warranty I had bought. I can still use it for moon shots with a tripod or wide daytime shots otherwise the lens will shake around. I guess the lens harness cable give out..... I guess it is a hit and miss on the different Sony cameras......

Hi Carl, just when I think I want to upgrade my camera, I see another one of your videos and ask myself "Why?". Your shots are excellent! Just a couple questions:
    1. Are these SOC or edited?
    2. What is your preferred shooting mode, i.e. A, M, P, etc.?
    3. What profile do you use, i.e. Standard, Vivid, etc.?
    Thanks

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hi Gary, Good to hear from you. These photos are out-of-the-camera. I've been trying to shoot in bright light so that I can use low ISO settings. I shoot in all the different modes, depending on the situation. I adjust as I go along, sometimes depending on how lazy I am but mostly depending on the situation and how fast I have to move to get the shot. I use both standard and vivid. Oddly maybe, I like vivid in summer to bring out the colors. Standard is fine for many situations. I use my judgment to choose my settings. Most times I get it right but sometimes I don't and have to trash the pictures. It never gets any easier but it does help to think about the light and also to change the white balance from auto. I use daylight for normal days, cloudy for cloudy days, shade when I'm in the shade, etc. It makes a difference. I hope you're well. Carl
