    Thank you so much for this video. I bought my DSC HX400V a few days ago & love the results so far.
    The camera (out of the box) did not have a very good explanation of how to use the controls outside of auto modes & this video explains the setup very well. I now have a good grasp on how to use the different controls of the camera...thank you.

    this SONY camera DSC HX400V is a 6 years old. I like the features and affordable price. Is it still worth the buy ? thks.

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The basics of photography remain the same no matter how old the camera, but the way the image is made and the complexity of how that is done changes. I think the camera is worth it, but ask yourself what kind of pictures you want to take and if you take pictures often enough to warrant buying it. If you think it will take the kind of pictures you want, and if you want to take pictures often, you might consider it. Decide if it is worth it in that way. If you think your phone works for you, still with your phone. It's up to you. All the best. Carl

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words. For the Milky Way, all I could say is try a tripod and aperture priority at f2.8 and 24mm, and maybe 400 ISO, but don't expect too much from the small sensor. Most of those Milky Way shots are heavily edited with not much good coming straight out of the camera. All the best.

    • @carlreader8939

      Thank you, sir. I'm not sure what the problem is, but you might try a higher shutter speed. Also, press the camera to your eye tightly (don't hurt yourself doing so, though), breathe in and hold it and then snap the shutter. I hope that helps. Let me know if it does. All the best, Carl.

      Hello Carl, Thank you for your prompt response. I have seen this earlier in the Sony website help section. This is not very helpful as my camera does not have Setup option on the mode dial. HX 350 is exactly the same as HX400V except that HX350 does not have wifi connectivity and GPS. All the other functions of HX350 are ditto as HX400V. Thank you for your time 👍

    Is this camera suitable for birds and wildlife photography? Please give me your suggestion. I am waiting....

    • @carlreader8939
      @carlreader8939  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Akash - Yes, it is suitable for birds and wildlife. Both of these types of photography require knowledge of the subject's behavior and patience, along with a steady hand and sharp eye, plus practice. Remember, the longer the lens, the more difficult it is to keep the subject in frame. This in itself requires a very steady, practiced hand and sharp eye. Using a tripod might help, too. All the best. Carl
