  • This is me testing and reviewing Sony's DSC-HX400V camera. It's a great camera for birding but does have a few drawbacks. Enjoy!

      Thank you, Andreas! Glad you enjoy my content! The birds I am showing here are at the maximum zoom, so adding the optical 50x zoom plus a bit more digital. I'm not sure what the full zoom adds up to be-- but the birds you see are shot with the maximum zoom the camera is capable of. Cheers!!!

    I love the Sony Cybershot cameras. I bought my first one in the early 2000s. I don’t remember the model name, but it has just over 10 mega pixels.
    I have the HX400v now, and it’s even better. The zoom is amazing, and I’ve had plenty of zoom shots that are stunning, without having a tripod with me.
    I generally keep it on manual mode, and have found it to be an amazing camera for many reasons.
    I love this camera.

    • @guillaumethomasdoerig
      @guillaumethomasdoerig  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Norma! I agree, this is NOT the best camera for photographing birds. I've also tried out the continuous shooting, and it's really slow and not nearly responsive enough (it takes ages to "process" all the photos you've just shot in that mode, meaning you have to wait a fair few seconds before you can actually use the camera again for that). As far as I know there isn't any way to rectify this. For a similar camera with good continuous shooting, the CANON Powershot models are quite good, I think. But for filming, which is what I'm most into, this one here is excellent.

    • @guillaumethomasdoerig
      @guillaumethomasdoerig  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The screen flips at a full right angle when you're looking down on it (for when the camera is near ground level or generally just directly below you), so 90º that way. It's a bit less the other way round, say when you hold the camera up with your arm and you want the screen to flip down towards you. It's not quite as much that way, say maybe 50º. But I generally use it way more looking down on it for filming from near-ground-level. Thanks for commenting and hope that helps!

      @@guillaumethomasdoerig *thank you* and do you know if you can *record while hdmi-output ?* I was looking into the Panasonic FZ80 with similar zoom but doesn't record while hdmi-out. The Panasonic FZ1000 has a fully articulating screen like newer GH4 GH5 or Sony's own A7SIII DSLR's but only has a 16X zoom, less than a 1/3 of this. So I am on the fence, because the FZ1000 does have a full 1" sensor and does 4K up to 120fps, and 100mbs bitrates, but of course those have length limits and restrictions, and I think that's to safeguard against overheating and toxicly ultra-rapid battery consumption. Overall, without it being a beauty contest, I'm still impressed by this particular model the most, apples to apples, feature for feature, penny for penny. I've seen a few of these on ebay for as low as $270 ( _pre-owned_ ). If I can HDMI-out while recording it would be best, however if not wouldn't be a dealbreaker if I can WIFI out to a tablet without significant latency lag or annoying buggy quirks. I could live with that. Concluding, Repeating my original follow-up question :: do you know if you can *record while hdmi-output ?* thanks for ur prompt reply so far, *very much*
