Just have a feeling the older one has a lot more wired aspects to it and in turn in the future the older model will be
Desirable, plus it was only made for 6 years

I had the old model, but sold it. It was just too chunky. New one looks really nice, good choice.

They are both great in their own way but the newer one just had a slight edge that sold me.

Love the new one! It is better, for me, in every way than the older one! New clasp, the 05 instead of 5, fully-lumed 3-6-9, crown guards, thinner case, new movement with 70 hour power reserve.

Those are the reasons I upgraded as well!

I prefer the old model it looks a lot more beautiful to me, the curvaceous case looks so elegant. Everything about it just looks better including the 5 I think the 05 is a load of nonsense, why is it now essential that a watch face must be balanced (what about 1 & 11 has everybody forgotten that?). No doubt the new one is a better watch but to my eye something about it just looks wrong, there is too much dial it looks a bit odd overall, everything looks off. In terms of collectibility the old one is the one to have also, it is discontinued and will become sought after by collectors in time it’s a sleeper currently. The new one will probably still be in production in 8 years time but there are only a finite number of the old ones. I had an 116900 for a few years and sold it but I’ll try and pick one up in the future, before the prices take off hopefully, I think it’s inevitable.

Nice video thanks! For me it’s the new model all the way. The thinner, less bulbous milgauss type case, the crown guards, the more refined Mercedes hands, the narrower bezel, the 05. Plus the more refined tool watch clasp.
I read, repeatedly, that the watch design is based on the Bloodhound dash/ speedo. But for me, the Bloodhound dash was originally inspired by the classic flieger watch style. The bloodhound cockpit is nigh-on identical to an aeroplane cockpit and was “piloted” by RAF wing commander Andy Green.
It’s the perfect embodiment of a modern Rolex Air King. And it looks the business.

Newer model much more functional, especially with the fully-lumed 3-6-9. Crown guards adds to appeal as a true tool watch.

The old one is a fatter case because it's in the milgaus case nothing to do with movement size . The milgaus case needs to be a fat lad due to iron core this isn't required in the new movement due to it being a magnetic hair spring
