- Capturing voice has always been relatively easy. But the workflow to actually make those voice memo's useful always felt clunky to me. But with Tana integrating voice, commands & AI it becomes super smooth to speak things into Tana and get useable notes to work with.
In this video I show you how three of the voice workflows I use daily to unravel my what is in my brain, get thoughts out of my head and into a useable format that I can start working with.

Just fantastic. I was just working on how I could use the new voice command in Tana to speed some things up (or make me do them?). I was annoyed with the output, but adding AI is great! You're one of the few productivity TH-camrs that I really feel has a similar brain to mine! Thank you!
Ah thank you for your kind words! I like to think I'm a pragmatic productivityist!
You are so lovEVly!!! What amazing content. Thank you for helping me on my Tana journey.
You're so welcome! Love that I can help.
These are just absolutely brilliant! Thanks very much, Ev. All set up!
Thanks, very helpful again. :-) Would be cool to have a simple keyboard shortcut for voice on/off instead of going through cmd-k
You can setup a custom command by clicking cmd+shift+k after you bring up voice command in the menu.
I find the cmd menu is just ingrained in my muscle memory now. But a custom shortcut would work just as well
🙏Can you help...? Rather than getting an actual transcription I am getting an AI summary of the audio.... I also dont seem to have the yellow "Transcribe✨" text showing next to my captured audio files...Instead I am having to launching the transcribe tool through cmdK / transcribe... Am I missing something here?
There has been a couple of UI changes since I made this video. The transcribe button is now part of the Node Toolbar So when you select a node that has a recording on it you should see a toolbar popup that has the transcribe button.
I'm not sure about the summary - that is odd. I get a summary in the description of the node, but when I expand the node the full transcription is there.
Can I find your AI commands in one of your templates?
I just tagged you in the TFT Community where you can find a bunch of them.
I understand that Tana uses ChatGPT to do the initial transcription. This is problematic, if the voice note contains confidential information. If the transcription remains private and confidential but the AI element adds the use of ChatGPT, using the transcription alone can remain private and confidential. Am I wrong in this understanding? My concern is that ChatGPT is a large language model and uses what I input as part of the large language model.
Yes, you are correct. They use Whisper AI for the transcriptions which does send your voice notes to the LLM and then back again into Tana. It's definitely problematic if you deal in confidential information.
Looks like I just need to avoid using ChatGpt for confidential but I still want to make sure that it doesn’t have access to my other notes.
Yep. It only has access to what you give it when you send over a command (as in it doesn’t have access to your full Tana workspace). So if you send it info from a field or a node, it only has access to that specific piece of information.
Super awesome - can you point me to where I can see or find more info on how to setup that ${sys.context}? Curious where or what that is pulling from in that command. Thanks!
