Vergil is a half demon half human. His song is about him feeling that he needs to repress his human side (bury the light, if you will). He's lived a traumatic life that has taught him that human things like family and love are weaknesses that only cause pain, and only through the pursuit of demonic power can he be safe from further pain - he's brooding and dark and edgy and makes a big show of loudly declaring how he's above petty human concerns. Nero is Vergil's son, though he doesn't know it at the start of DMC5, and was raised as a human. His story is about embracing the latent demonic (and human!) rage boiling inside him due to the ways he's been mistreated and used throughout his life, accepting every part of himself and his origin, and basically becoming his own person. Nero's story is a quintessentially teenage arc, and I think Devil Trigger reflects that with it's simpler, pop-ier elements and intentionally blunt, unsophisticated lyrics. And I think the two stories tie together beautifully when you hear the Devil Trigger motif pop up towards the end of Bury the Light - it's not just a nod to the family connection between Nero and Vergil, but an acknowledgement that under his brooding, cold, edgy exterior, Vergil is still struggling with the same questions of identity and self that his son is, that there's a part of him that's still just a hurt, angry kid lashing out at those around him because he doesn't fully understand his own emotions.
Vergil- Nero’s father: Bury the light: “humanity is a side of me that is weak, my demon half is what gives me power. I must repress my humanity and embrace my true power” Nero-Vergil’s son: Devil trigger: “I’ve tried repressing the demon side of me for so long, I don’t care if it further alienates me, I have to unleash my demon power raging inside” Vergil’s theme is about repressing a part of himself, and Nero’s is about embracing a part of himself. Good theming :)
You have absolutely got to listen to the Metal Gear Rising soundtrack- especially the vocal tracks. It's definitely a spiritual cousin of the DMC5 soundtrack, and they've both been getting a lot of love recently for good reason. The MGR soundtrack is especially interesting because of how it's mixed in-game- the first two-thirds of each major fight are instrumental buildup, before the vocals kick in for the final phase. The lyrics for each fight are the lion's share of the characterization that each of the enemies gets, meaning you only really get a sense of who they are and what they want as they struggle for their lives in the final minute or two of the fight. The lyrics are thematically amazing and the music is compositionally astounding.
Некоторые битвы не нарастают, а сразу стартуют с полной версии. Например, последние две битвы и их музыкальные партии (Дай стране управлять собой - мой любимый саундтрек)
The leitmotif at the end of the chorus(7:56 on this video) being reused in the latter section of Bury the Light(18:05 in that video) is great!! The power of key changes, tempo and vocal timbre is incredible.
Vergil is a master swordsman that carries massive childhood trauma and views the pursuit of more power as a means to take control of his life and prevent the events that lead to that trauma from happening again. He's sort of a mix of anti-hero and anti-villain. In-game his play style focuses on measured/precise application of overwhelming force and avoiding being hit. Nero is a young, somewhat inexperienced devil hunter who has more than a bit of a temper at times. One of his attack combos is basically him throwing away all technique and just slamming his sword repeatedly into his target. It's a version of the Red Oni/Blue Oni storytelling trope, where the Red Oni (usually the protagonist Dante in DMC) is hotheaded and freedom-loving in contrast to the Blue Oni (Vergil) who is calm/cold and authoritarian. Dante and Vergil are even color-coded with red and blue clothing respectively. Speaking of Dante you should check out "Devils Never Cry" from the DMC3 OST and "Subhuman" from DMC5, they're related to his character.
Vergil is not only always seeking power, he doesn't understand why their mother managed to 'save' Dante, but not him. Vergil was outside playing in the yardd, at.. I think 8 or 9? (Could be off one or two) When Mundus attacked. Their mother managed to hide Dante, but was killed on her way to get to Vergil. That was when Vergil's demon side came out. Because he always thought their mother ONLY loved Dante. And as I said. That much power to kill demons as a child... It's little wonder Vergil is always seeking more. Power can be a VERY intoxicating drug. Even at the cost of your humanity. To put it simply... Vergil has always been somewhat 'jealous' of Dante for that night.
Now nero's history is a bit weird, on the xbox 360/ps3 we thought for dmc4 that it was going to be Dante again but at the beginning of the game we were introduced to Nero. Now Nero was actually a mistake in the English translation of dmc1 where Nelo(pronounced Nee-low) Angelo was actually supposed to be Nero Angelo, but Capcom still wanted the name Nero in the games so Nero was born. Yes my man Nero is a mistake.
The themes for each character reflects their personalitys and age. Nero is young so they have a pop song he has big potential so it that shooting star kinda rising to it with the darkness of the devil behind it. Virgil is a well established character who is much older so its refined and reflects his outlook on life which is quite dark overall. There is one more song and its for Dante who is Virgils twin and the star of the show he is light hearted without a care in the world and a badass so you can tell what that will sound like.
I think you're referring to a "riser" at 10:37, a sort of electronic whooshing that rises in pitch and intensity. I don't know a lot about music theory in general, electronic included, but I try to listen to what a lot of composers have to say so I pick up a few things. I always enjoy hearing music reactions from someone versed in music because I always feel like I'm learning. Great reaction!
Like all of DMC 5's songs they tell you a lot about their character. Nero is very modern and the lyrics speak about to how...well home boy has a fucking trigger heat been trying not to pull. But DMC 5 is where he's finally able to embrace what he is.
The “I’ll endure the exile” line gets me every time memory’s of that moment and just the vibe of this song especially after playing the games so many times
If you really enjoyed this, give Touch Me And I'll Break Your Face from Killer Instinct a listen. It's by Casey and Ali as well, and it's actually the song that landed him his role for DMC5.
You probably know from the other comments that Vergil is Nero's father and the two have lived kind of contrasting lives, but there's actually a part to both Bury the Light and Devil Trigger that exemplifies this. There is a passage in each song that is the exact same melody but has different lyrics. In Bury the Light, it's near the end and says, "Bury the light deep within, cast aside there's no going home," whereas the equal passage in Devil Trigger says, "Embrace the darkness that's within me, no hiding in the shadows anymore." I just think it's so cool that the same melody appears in both songs
Please do Dante’s original DMC 3 theme: “Devils Never Cry” next! Its not used in DMC 5, and is replaced by a heavy metal track known as “Subhuman” (which still rocks tbf), but its so good at characterizing Dante and is absolutely unforgettable music wise.
it really is a shame that crimson cloud and subhuman had to release in the same game as this song because nither are bad in there own right however they all pale in comparison to this or bury the light
A few Informations about the three main characters so that you now a few things about them. Vergil: I would say that he's a badass whos only goal is to gain strengh and he's pretty much always looking down on others. His fighting style is very fast and elegant. Nero: is the son of Vergil, he's young and very impulsive and always wants to fight. His fighting style is wild and has a huge variety because of the devil breakers Dante: He's the brother of Vergil. If I had to guess his Personality than I would say that he just doesn't give a fuck about most of the things and he's also pretty badass (but in a different way than Vergil). His fighting style is very brute and straight forward and he uses more strengh rather than speed like Vergil Hope you also react to dante' s theme :)
nah Dante does give a fuck after all the main grading system for DMC is based of style so his fighting style is literally style. after all he literally throws Michel Jackson hats at enemy's and puts them on their heads.
Dmc is great with making character theme fit the motivations and attitudes of the corresponding character. As for dmc5: Vergil-Dark, broody, epic Dante-gritty, chaotic, savage Nero-energetic, in-your-face, pulsing
Always nice to hear your insights to music pieces that I adore. As for recommendations: The most iconic track from DMC would definitely be "Devils Never Cry" from DMC3. I also really like "Shall Never Surrender" from DMC4 which is Neros theme from the previous game. My favourite tracks from DMC5 next to Bury the Light would be "Legacy" (A rare emotional piece of music in this otherwise over the top action game), "Voltaic Black Knigh" (Kick-ass boss theme) and "Silver Bullet" (a variation of "Devil Trigger")
If you had listened to this before Bury the Light (how it was chronologically released) you probably would have picked up that the segment near the end of Bury the Light reuses using the same melody (? I also have no idea what terms apply here) from Devil Trigger. You should go back and check it out for yourself. It’s pretty cool once you know.
Music in DMC MUST be good bc it’s one of the main reasons (if not the main) to get good. Basically, tracks for dmc games (and a lot of other slashers) are separable into core fragments and the song progresses to more active and epic and upbit parts only if you hit a high combo (sorta, it’s called Style in dmc). So if you wanna EMBRACE THE DARKNESS THAT’S WITHIN or PULL YOUR DEVIL TRIGGER you better get those Smokin Sexy Style a lot On a side note, can’t wait to hear your reaction to Devils Never Cry, Dante’s battle theme from DMC3!
I've seen this thing happen a few times where a music head will break down tracks from a game or show and say something like "there's a sense of loss here" or "there's a lot of contrast between these two tracks" and just generally sniping story beats out of the sound with a high degree of accuracy. Some comments have already referred to the reason there's a contrast between this and Bury the Light, but I just wanted to say that as a story writer I think it's cool that artists in a totally different medium can access the stories that have inspired me over the years through the same music that captured my imagination when I first heard it. If you ever see this, keep doing analysis, it's super dope.
I am suggesting two more songs from the devil may cry franchise that I and I bet many others would love to see: Devil May Cry 3 - Devils Never Cry Devil May Cry 4 - Shall Never Surrender
Hey Tony! New sub here, been absolutely loving your breakdowns of the DMC songs, there are a ton of banger tracks throughout the series so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you react to more! I especially like your style of breakdown, there's a lot of good information that you explain that's easily digestible for everyone, not just people who know a few things (or a lot!) about music in general. One track I'd love to see you react to is a song called 'Scream' from the game Final Fantasy XIV. Super banger, that one, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
So since no one said (that I saw) another of the many fun facts is that the female vocalist for this song as well as many of Casey’s songs is his wife. He also did music for killer instinct and she sang for those as well
5:50 absolutely. Predictable does not always mean bad. If you make a prediction in a story, for instance. You start looking forward to when it's all put together, and see just how right or wrong you may have been. Either way, it's an exciting ride!
Alright as comprehensive a breakdown I can provide Virgil is Nero's absentee father. Virgil is cold and emotionless he has utter disdain for the human half of his soul, he views it as weakness, an obstacle in his pursuit of Power. Nero is nearly the opposite, he's defined by his connections to other people, motivated by grief and a desire to belong somewhere. The different styles of the songs reflect these near polar opposite outlooks on life Another thing I think is worth noting is that there's a distinct generational difference between them, Bury the light is hardcore/metal while I'd say Devil Trigger is very pop-punk/alt-rock. Something of note tho is the way the lyrics treat their subject, compare these two lines - I am the storm that is approaching - I'm the wildfire you won't tame Both pieces treat their protagonists like they're forces of nature on a destructive path, there's other lyrical parallels, like the symbolism of the nighttime and such. So, while thematically they are opposites of one another, the drive they have to achieve is what they share below the surface.
capcom always says "no guitar" but decide to hire metal heads and they always go like "nuh, imma put sum guitars in that sh*t after 1 minute runtime" and then it turns out to be great and they accept it anyway.
the interesting connection between devil trigger and bury the light is they use the same motif, but lyrically they are opposite. this is a reference to the similar nature between them as father and son (both are very fixated in gaining power to achieve their goals), but also contrasts how they are completely opposite to each other in how they approach things in life (they wish for power for completely different reasons, nero to protect his family and friends and vergil for his own selfish desires).
GOTTA LET IT OUT , GOTTA LET IT OUT ! ohh yeaaaaah , you know sh*t's about to go down when this music comes ( whether in the game and wherever ) best played and listened to in full volume , literally This is pretty much my work crunch time soundtrack to be productive and all ; thanks for doing the review , Tony ; there's another DMC song which is good and hoping you can also do a review of it ; it's "Devils Never Cry" from the third installment of the game
People are going to recommend Dante's theme but I'd also recommend Nero's theme from DMC4 "Never Surrender" or Dante's theme from DMC3 "Devils Never Cry". If you play DMCV there's also a thing that takes you through the story of the old games and it plays a the character theme from them. Also the version on the game is a little quick with lots of reading but there's a voiced version on the official TH-cam channel. People have probably mentioned that the letter ranking effects the part of song mid fight. Depending on the version you get of the game you can get the top 4 songs from each game and choose which one to play mid fight aside from the four character themes from 5. They also work with the letter ranking.
Themes pretty much reflect the character's personality and current position in the story. I think Bury the light and Devil trigger did just that perfectly
I would really recommend the music from Final Fantasy 14. The music from that game is all over the place, some more metal stuff like "The Black Wolf Stalks again" or some really old school orchestration stuff like "Heroes".
Surprised he didn’t notice the biggest similarity between the two tracks. The part that is similar is “Embrace the darkness that’s within me” in Devil Trigger and “Bury the light deep within.” Nero is embracing his demon side and Vergil is burying his human side; like father, like son. Not only that, but they both have *VERY* similar chord progressions, just in different octaves.
I'd recommend checking out Ace Combat 0's penultimate song - Zero if you want some good beats. It layers its main hook within itself and really gets you pumped. The Ace Combat games all have amazing soundtracks. Plus, who would ever expect opera and flamenco to be such a banger.
At first I didn't like this song, but after playing the game I loved it. It was quite a surprise at the time that after the reboot DmC, the story would continue after Devil may cry 4. A lot of people hated the reboot but I must say the gaming experience on that one was exquisite (regardless Emo Dante. And the story was quite interesting I must say).
If you want something completely different, there's Dante's theme titled "Subhuman", although I and a lot of people think that "Devils Never Cry" from Devil May Cry 3 is better in showing Dante's personality.
You really should try the game, I think you'll really enjoy how the music ties into the gameplay. Basically the better and more stylish you do, the more the music will crank up. This really adds to the experience in my opinion.
Fun fact for dmc 5 the tracks change parts mid combat reflecting your style rank d to triple s and will give you more of the ambient stuff until you work your way through the demons and get the music pumping. I started with dmc 1 as dmc 5 is definitely the end of the saga but 3 is a great place to start along with 4. And let’s not talk about dmc 2 haha
This is a great song. Just as good as bury the light but in its own way. I think the upbeat-ness of this one counters bury the light perfectly. I’m also glad he didn’t have any restrictions on Devil Trigger like he did with Bury the Light, which was no electric guitars except for the chorus. Edit: also, this one isn’t by Casey, but Crimson Cloud is also really good, despite me despising V (idk why I don’t like him tbh) Another Edit: Legacy and Silver bullet are also really good 😅
Nero, Vergil and Dante are like three sides of a weird coin (That doesn't make sense but whatever) where they have similar motivations but very different ideals if that makes sense.
I already posted this suggestion in the discord but Smell of the Game from Guilty Gear Strive would be cool! The soundtrack as a whole would be interesting to watch you analyze, but this song is a good start as it’s the main theme of the game.
a (not so) quick explanation about DMC: It's a world where demons exist. One of the strongest is called Sparda, this demon rebelled and married a human. From this union, the twins Dante and Vergil were born, who are half human and half demon. They separated in childhood. Dante is the great hero and protagonist of the first games, Vergil is almost always on the opposite side, being one of the great villains of the game. Nero only appeared in the fourth game, he had the appearance of Dante and a demonic hand. Nothing was explained in this game, but there was a strong theory that Nero was Vergil's son, which was confirmed in the last game.
I love how everyone just says skip the second game lol. I played dmc4 then 5 then got all the backstory from youtube. If you dont know the full story it can be difficult to really appreciate dmc5 as it deserves. You dont get the full story from the games either so watching a youtube video compiling everything from the books is helpful
Great video, keep up the good work! I haven't got much to add for DMC5, so instead i'd like to suggest you take a listen to the Guilty Gear series soundtrack, since i personally like it a lot. I'd suggest starting with Smell of the Game, Heavy Day or Big Blast Sonic just to see if you vibe with it
Aside from the lyrics these character themes really reflect the emotional state and personality in the feel of the music. Vergil is a pretty serious and broody character, while Nero has some of his own baggage, he's younger and is a little more wild and likes to have fun when he fights, so Devil Trigger really reflects that in its goth rave feel.
As of video game music you should react to Guity Gear STRIVE music, all the music from the Guity Gear franchise is some kind of rock tribute, from STRIVE i would recommend 'Play the Hero', 'What do we fight for' and 'Armor-clad Faith', it's really cool to see how each theme resonates greatly with its characters, I gave this examples but you should totally listen to more stuff from Guity Gear OST in general. Love your videos, couldn't catch you live on twitch yet because of some timezone discrepancy

Please react to Drakengard 3's ost "The last song". It's an amazing piece in it's own right, and one of many such pieces of music from Yoko Taro's games Drakengard and Nier series, which in my opinion have the best OST in gaming.
12:33 ok you asked why nero and vergil themes are so different. if I were to resume, it would be to say that both themes are there to represent everything that the two characters are. their mindsets, their ways of acting and ways of thinking. Vergil, is extremely arrogant, but he is elegant, he is focused, no move he makes is in vain, has extremely formal English and has never been seen in the franchise using slang and swearing. he's the kind of guy who's arrogant, but he won't show it in words, he won't even act, he's the kind of guy who will stand still and immobile, and in his presence, even if immobile, you know that if he move, you will be dead. and this is reflected in their gameplay as well. Nero is the complete opposite of that, he's young, in his 25s at the most. Young and explosive but still with frustrations plaguing him and he needs to purge those feelings by showing he's the guy. and he really is. but he's the guy who's going to have a catchphrase with swearing and a Harsh, Threatening aggression. The pop sound his theme has is to reflect that he is young, and the song has all the pop tone that flirts with the romantic, but his lyrics reveal a caged beast that struggles to escape. Nero's gameplay is Fast, Rampant and Explosive, as if Nero barely has Control of the power he possesses. while vergil, is controlled aggression, focused Nero is unbridled and uncontrolled Rage. this game still has two more themes, Dante's Theme, *SUBHUMAN* , is a Rock that borders on the generic, but it works very well with Dante's character because he is the balance between Vergil and Nero's themes. his Rage is very similar to nero's, but the sound is not pop because Dante is not young like Nero, so his theme is classic Metal with a Guttural Voice saying he can never be beaten. and there is the theme of V, *CRIMSON* *CLOUD* , which apart from the theme of vergil, I would dare to guess that it will be your favorite theme Tony, because V is a mysterious character, that no one knows his story and his motivations. so your theme is an experimental Pure Electronic with Poetry being Deferred in the lyrics. Hope you react to this other two songs... And the Dmc3 theme Devils Never Cry... And the Metal gear Rising song Call The Only Thing I Know For Real. Okay, i done. Lol

And that's why our man Vergil isn't paying any child support
he's just deadweight anyway
I think you'd love Nero's theme from DMC4, especially the HR/HM arrangement. They have one of the best shifts from one style to another imo.
Like all of DMC 5's songs they tell you a lot about their character. Nero is very modern and the lyrics speak about to how...well home boy has a fucking trigger heat been trying not to pull. But DMC 5 is where he's finally able to embrace what he is.
You really can’t help but head bop during Devil Trigger
The “I’ll endure the exile” line gets me every time memory’s of that moment and just the vibe of this song especially after playing the games so many times
If you really enjoyed this, give Touch Me And I'll Break Your Face from Killer Instinct a listen. It's by Casey and Ali as well, and it's actually the song that landed him his role for DMC5.
Huh? Isn’t that what landed nick gordon to do Doom?
Loved the analysis, it's been super fun hearing your breakdowns of the music!
You probably know from the other comments that Vergil is Nero's father and the two have lived kind of contrasting lives, but there's actually a part to both Bury the Light and Devil Trigger that exemplifies this.
There is a passage in each song that is the exact same melody but has different lyrics. In Bury the Light, it's near the end and says, "Bury the light deep within, cast aside there's no going home," whereas the equal passage in Devil Trigger says, "Embrace the darkness that's within me, no hiding in the shadows anymore."
I just think it's so cool that the same melody appears in both songs
Please do Dante’s original DMC 3 theme: “Devils Never Cry” next! Its not used in DMC 5, and is replaced by a heavy metal track known as “Subhuman” (which still rocks tbf), but its so good at characterizing Dante and is absolutely unforgettable music wise.
Fret not comrade you can get Devils Never Cry in DMC 5, but you're still totally correct they did replace the song and all that.
Devils Never Cry is dlc for DMC5, as is a bunch of other old DMC tracks.
@@DarkMirria1 thats a different mix of Devils Never Cry that cuts the intro and some of the lyrics at the end. Not exactly the same
@@TheDangerNoodle Hm…I could’ve sworn the original song was available for download as well, last I checked anyways…
it really is a shame that crimson cloud and subhuman had to release in the same game as this song because nither are bad in there own right however they all pale in comparison to this or bury the light
bro fr i tried listening to those two but it didnt hit like devil trigger and bury the light
His fighting style is wild and has a huge variety because of the devil breakers
Dante: He's the brother of Vergil. If I had to guess his Personality than I would say that he just doesn't give a fuck about most of the things and he's also pretty badass (but in a different way than Vergil). His fighting style is very brute and straight forward and he uses more strengh rather than speed like Vergil
Hope you also react to dante' s theme :)
man did you play devil may cry
nah Dante does give a fuck after all the main grading system for DMC is based of style so his fighting style is literally style. after all he literally throws Michel Jackson hats at enemy's and puts them on their heads.
As someone who's never played the game your descriptions make them sound exactly the same lol
@@bobshnitzel2608 I know, in many ways they are different but they are all great characters, especially Vergil
For Dante you could have just said he has a devil may care attitude. Also his fighting style is more flashy and stylish not just brute strength
If you like how intricate and progressive this is, you may like Heavyweight by Infected Mushrooms no lyrics but the instruments are quite a journey.
YESS this game is so action packed and this theme cranks the vibe to 11. I love it
i really want you to react to smell of the game, the main theme of guilty gear strive.
It would be a great intro for the rest of the GGS songs
THE ENTIRE STRIVE OST TBH
dude id be down with ANY track in guilty gear, i just need to him breakdown a guilty gear track
The dream would be a livestream or something that whole soundtrack is amazing
Dmc is great with making character theme fit the motivations and attitudes of the corresponding character.
As for dmc5:
Vergil-Dark, broody, epic
Dante-gritty, chaotic, savage
Nero-energetic, in-your-face, pulsing
13:28 So glad I'm not the only what that hears that
Always nice to hear your insights to music pieces that I adore. As for recommendations:
The most iconic track from DMC would definitely be "Devils Never Cry" from DMC3.
So if you wanna EMBRACE THE DARKNESS THAT’S WITHIN or PULL YOUR DEVIL TRIGGER you better get those Smokin Sexy Style a lot
On a side note, can’t wait to hear your reaction to Devils Never Cry, Dante’s battle theme from DMC3!
Check out “Subhuman” and “Crimson Cloud” those are Dante and V’s battle themes respectively in Devil May Cry 5.
Crimson Cloud is hype
I've seen this thing happen a few times where a music head will break down tracks from a game or show and say something like "there's a sense of loss here" or "there's a lot of contrast between these two tracks" and just generally sniping story beats out of the sound with a high degree of accuracy. Some comments have already referred to the reason there's a contrast between this and Bury the Light, but I just wanted to say that as a story writer I think it's cool that artists in a totally different medium can access the stories that have inspired me over the years through the same music that captured my imagination when I first heard it.
If you ever see this, keep doing analysis, it's super dope.
Thx for the nice comment
I am suggesting two more songs from the devil may cry franchise that I and I bet many others would love to see:
Devil May Cry 3 - Devils Never Cry
Devil May Cry 4 - Shall Never Surrender
You should now listen to “devel never cry” this theme is the goat in the DMC series
Alright as comprehensive a breakdown I can provide
Virgil is Nero's absentee father.
Virgil is cold and emotionless he has utter disdain for the human half of his soul, he views it as weakness, an obstacle in his pursuit of Power.
Nero is nearly the opposite, he's defined by his connections to other people, motivated by grief and a desire to belong somewhere. The different styles of the songs reflect these near polar opposite outlooks on life
Another thing I think is worth noting is that there's a distinct generational difference between them, Bury the light is hardcore/metal while I'd say Devil Trigger is very pop-punk/alt-rock.
Something of note tho is the way the lyrics treat their subject, compare these two lines
- I am the storm that is approaching
- I'm the wildfire you won't tame
Both pieces treat their protagonists like they're forces of nature on a destructive path, there's other lyrical parallels, like the symbolism of the nighttime and such. So, while thematically they are opposites of one another, the drive they have to achieve is what they share below the surface.
Thank you so much for that. That makes a lot of sense hearing that
capcom always says "no guitar" but decide to hire metal heads and they always go like "nuh, imma put sum guitars in that sh*t after 1 minute runtime" and then it turns out to be great and they accept it anyway.
devil may cry 3 theme devils never cry has a special place in my heart.
✋😊
Overlord is ending soon, ight be great time to react to all its op and ED's,they are all top tier stuff.
yes, overlord openings and endings are great. Just give it a try.
So... You gotta do Dante's "Subhuman" now right? haha. It's quite different from Nero and Vergil's, though probably my favourite personally
Nah he *has* to do Devil’s Never Cry before Subhuman
the interesting connection between devil trigger and bury the light is they use the same motif, but lyrically they are opposite. this is a reference to the similar nature between them as father and son (both are very fixated in gaining power to achieve their goals), but also contrasts how they are completely opposite to each other in how they approach things in life (they wish for power for completely different reasons, nero to protect his family and friends and vergil for his own selfish desires).
You should react to V's theme (Chrismon Cloud) and Dante's (Subhuman)! Both are absolutely amazing and V's is my favourite.
GOTTA LET IT OUT , GOTTA LET IT OUT ! ohh yeaaaaah , you know sh*t's about to go down when this music comes ( whether in the game and wherever ) best played and listened to in full volume , literally
This is pretty much my work crunch time soundtrack to be productive and all ; thanks for doing the review , Tony ; there's another DMC song which is good and hoping you can also do a review of it ; it's "Devils Never Cry" from the third installment of the game
Has anyone suggested Manners by Band-Maid yet? Highly recommend!
(also they just released a new EP!)
I think V's theme is underrated, but not surprised if you won't check it out 'cause there's literally no reactions I've seen of it 😅
Themes pretty much reflect the character's personality and current position in the story. I think Bury the light and Devil trigger did just that perfectly
You have to react to “RIN! RIN! Hi!” It’s so underrated and it’s guitar genius!!
If your going to keep listening to these then you got to try devils never cry from dmc 3. Out of all of them it's still my favorite
You should definitely do Subhuman next, its Dante's theme.
I would really recommend the music from Final Fantasy 14. The music from that game is all over the place, some more metal stuff like "The Black Wolf Stalks again" or some really old school orchestration stuff like "Heroes".
I never would have imagined Christian Bale become a music director and start reacting to soundtrack from games and shows
I'm his older brother. We kicked him out of the family because he wouldn't eat his 🍝
Please react to In Your Belief from Asura's Wrath. It's so pretty. It's a piece of orchestral beauty with and without lyrics.
I’d recommend Shell of What Was from Destiny 2. Michael Salvatori is an absolute genius!!
Devils Never Cry from DMC 3 is Dante's theme and would be awesome to check out !
13:30 okay thank GOD I'm not the only one who hears "Black 'n yellow, black 'n yellow" in that part lmao
I'd recommend checking out Ace Combat 0's penultimate song - Zero if you want some good beats. It layers its main hook within itself and really gets you pumped. The Ace Combat games all have amazing soundtracks. Plus, who would ever expect opera and flamenco to be such a banger.
Title should be Deadweight theme from Devil May Cry 5
Fun fact, PC gamer complained about the game music because they were too shit to get S ranks to kick the songs into high gear
Yes finally this song, love the video
Edit: also, this one isn’t by Casey, but Crimson Cloud is also really good, despite me despising V (idk why I don’t like him tbh)
Another Edit: Legacy and Silver bullet are also really good 😅
Nero, Vergil and Dante are like three sides of a weird coin (That doesn't make sense but whatever) where they have similar motivations but very different ideals if that makes sense.
I would love it if you would react to "sins of the father" from Metal Gear Solid 5, the singer has just such a powerful voice
I already posted this suggestion in the discord but Smell of the Game from Guilty Gear Strive would be cool! The soundtrack as a whole would be interesting to watch you analyze, but this song is a good start as it’s the main theme of the game.
Please playlist the gameplay on youtube!
Since you’re doing dmc 5 stuff would love to see your thoughts on Any Special Order (Tropical Devil remix)
a (not so) quick explanation about DMC: It's a world where demons exist.
BAM BAM BAM FOR MY DEVIL TRIGGER
I love how everyone just says skip the second game lol. I played dmc4 then 5 then got all the backstory from youtube. If you dont know the full story it can be difficult to really appreciate dmc5 as it deserves. You dont get the full story from the games either so watching a youtube video compiling everything from the books is helpful
Eles usam algumas notas do tema do Nero dentro do tema do vergil, é pra você pensar neles como, de certa forma, familiares mesmo
Great video, keep up the good work! I haven't got much to add for DMC5, so instead i'd like to suggest you take a listen to the Guilty Gear series soundtrack, since i personally like it a lot. I'd suggest starting with Smell of the Game, Heavy Day or Big Blast Sonic just to see if you vibe with it
You should try listening to Silver Bullet next, it's kinda like Devil Trigger but a bit different
The next game soundtracks you should listen to are Yakuza and Tekken. I personally would recommend you check out Receive You Reborn
Cyberpunk has a lot of controversy but it’s soundtrack has some undeniably great music
Looks like I missed a lot👀 love the content, glad to see you enjoying all these songs of different tastes! Here’s my obligatory request for Metal Gear Rising’s OST!
You should definitely start with Im my own master now!
Devils never cry and shall never surrender u should react to they are top tier
Virgil is cold and calculating while Nero is "unga bunga f you"
Some other games that have amazing osts are persona 5 and the nier series should definitely check some of those out!!
Waiting for the reaction to the off shoot DMC music. We have Devil May Cry 1-5 and we have DMC which was the failed unnecessary reboot that had Fantastic music.
I hope you'll check out Unwavering Belief from Lost Judgment one day, it's the bomb!
Video games Music are getting Better & better by the years!
A few examples:
From the game TETRIS EFFECT (The game has two version, I prefer the [Ending Version] )
CONNECTED (YOURS FOREVER)
From the game Cytus (Taiwanese game that is banned in China)
L~Ice
From Civilization V (No one mentions this GEM)
Baba Yetu
From BlazBlue (Arc System Works)
X-matic
Sounds like new age pendulm kinda style of drum and base
Hi Tony! Great analysis! I think you would really like Tragic Decision or Zanza the Divine off of the xenoblade chronicles definitive edition soundtrack.
Nice!Waiting V Theme
U should also do Devils Never Cry, the battle theme of devil may cry 3
Please react to Drakengard 3's ost "The last song". It's an amazing piece in it's own right, and one of many such pieces of music from Yoko Taro's games Drakengard and Nier series, which in my opinion have the best OST in gaming.
I have to put Shall Never Surrender/The Time Has Come as one to react I swear.
You should try to listen to Triple Q's mashup of Devil Trigger and Love Shack. That shit was ridiculously good.
I strongly suggest you check out Devil may cry 3 - devils never cry!
Please react to "the only thing I know for real" (Sam Jetstream theme in metal gear)
Nero's gameplay is Fast, Rampant and Explosive, as if Nero barely has Control of the power he possesses.
while vergil, is controlled aggression, focused
Nero is unbridled and uncontrolled Rage.
this game still has two more themes, Dante's Theme, *SUBHUMAN* , is a Rock that borders on the generic, but it works very well with Dante's character because he is the balance between Vergil and Nero's themes.
his Rage is very similar to nero's, but the sound is not pop because Dante is not young like Nero, so his theme is classic Metal with a Guttural Voice saying he can never be beaten.
and there is the theme of V, *CRIMSON* *CLOUD* , which apart from the theme of vergil, I would dare to guess that it will be your favorite theme Tony, because V is a mysterious character, that no one knows his story and his motivations.
so your theme is an experimental Pure Electronic with Poetry being Deferred in the lyrics.
Hope you react to this other two songs...
And the Dmc3 theme Devils Never Cry...
And the Metal gear Rising song Call The Only Thing I Know For Real.
Okay, i done. Lol
Taste of blood is a good song as well as well devils never cry😊
