All in all, the mick gordon mixes are what really makes these songs
Fun fact: there is an easter egg in Doom Eternal that lets you play the ORIGINAL doom 1 and 2. Its kinda tricky to get to them but ypu could always search it up. And yes you can play both games entirely since the game files of doom 1 and 2 are so small compared to modern games.

6:05 actually legendary that it doesn't drop right there. I'm not even sure if Mick Designed the song to be like this or if someone else re-arranged the order XD
@@dacomputernerd4096 Not entirely. There are OST versions that the composer usually makes. Mick only made like 10 of them though for Eternal...theres actually controversy around it
The drums at the end sound like a rhythm for a military cadence. The voices at the end yelling "rip and tear" I remember reading were many prominent artists in the metal scene that Mick Gordon was able to get for that part. An interesting note is that Mick Gordon succeeded in creating Doom soundtracks that absolutely fit the modern Doom games and even feel modern but there pretty much isn't a song he did for them that doesn't pay homage to the original soundtracks of the first two Doom games and even the theme of Doom 3. He has weaved sometimes multiple rhythms, harmonies and melodies from the original soundtracks into his songs so anyone who absolutely loved the music in the originals and listened to them for countless hours will not be able to avoid feeling the nostalgia. Even this song, I heard two or three parts that were callbacks to the original games though I wouldn't be able to tell you which songs he took them from off the top of my head.
I see this channel growing a lot over time. His music reviews are very good, and he knows how to choose very well what to react to. My favorites are definitely "BFG Division", "Rip and Tear", "Cultist Base" (that one is made entirely with synthesizers and it's AWESOME), "Blood Swamps" (it's by Andrew Hulshult and it SLAPS!) among others. I could list entire soundtracks from both DOOM 2016 and DOOM: Eternal, they're all great and all of them are unique. Like "Rust Dust and Guts" drops are like jumpscares, you pretty much never know when the drop actually comes and it's always amazing when it does, and then "BFG 10k" from Eternal is short but super high energy, which is fitting for the segment.
Great reaction, dude! This song along with some others like BFG 10k, Rip And Tear, BFG Division, Hellwalker and Mastermind (this four are from Doom 2016 OST), the Super Gore Nest Cultist Base and Meat Hook was the BIGEST chunk of inspiration for me when I started doing my own electronic music in 2020) so I highly recomended for you to check this songs out, belive me, you won't be dissapointed) anyway, keep up the great work!)
Your explanations are fantastic and the way you sort of simplify it, is really appreciated. It's a amazing track and it is actually an incredible revelation that you are providing to those of us, who aren't schooled in music. That you explain, why exactly that I feel what I do and how I perceive the music and through that, the game itself, all at once. And it actually empowers it, the misc and the game as well. After I watch your video, the experience of music have improved to me, significantly (like that was possible somehow). Sorry for the long comment. Best regards!
Loved this reaction! I am a huge Mick Gordan fan and it was awesome to see you breakdown this legendary track. Hope you look into more of his Doom soundtracks!
Since we're on the Doom train. Since you liked this one, you definately have to give Doom Eternal - BFG Divison a listen. That, and this piece are my favorite ones.
I really appreciate all the break downs of rhythm and drumming you do. Since you are into those alot you would also enjoy " Rip and Tear"-Doom (2016). One of the best tracks from that game. You would also enjoy "The Super Gore Nest"-(koma game rip)reupload) from Doom Eternal. It's important you pick the correct version of songs for Doom Eternal as there was never an original OST released for Doom Eternal..a true war crime..but as a result there is alot of disparity in the mixes, order of the track, quality, etc. Doom 2016 has an OST so no hunting required for it's tracks best version. ...Also other great doom tracks to check-out..: Harbinger, Hell walker, metal hell, meat hook, bfg division, Vega Core, Blood Swamps, Reclaimed Earth, Immora, Nekravol,
Damn, this made me think you should react to the entire Undertale/Deltarune OST. Would be insane to hear all your knowledge while hearing those tunes. I kinda feel it would be a lot of work tho since the OST is kinda long so it may be better to pick certains tracks and not the entirety of the OST.
This song is a rollercoaster, the descending chord around 9:15 is pure genius, Mick could have done the whole song repeating that part over and over and it would have just been great but like this is pure perfection.
The best part about Mick Gordons "percussions" as you describe it (4:14) is literally just a sine wave. A sine wave and 4 parallel channels of different effect pedals, small practise amps, a tape-to-tape reel and various other interesting things All summed up on a mixer and compressed to, excuse my wording, hell He did a talk about it on GDC, and there's some rather interesting things even for non-audio engineers
There's a video on the GDC (Game Developers Conference) channel where Mick Gordon talks about how he composed the 2016 Doom soundtrack - It's really interesting if you have the time.
Man, you're just like me when I listen to music. I always am analyzing it in the back of my mind even if I'm not really that knowledgeable of music theory terms and stuff. I'm just a violinist lol. But seriously, I love how much youre pausing and talking and explaining things not everyone may notice. It's wonderful to know that all the little things musicians are putting in are heard by at least someone.
Every time I listen to this song, I couple it with "Sam's Base", because it's basically the first half of the song. If you ever want to get pumped, that's a good way to build to this!
I found out the chant at the end of the song, was performed by a choir of heavy metal singers. Apparently they did an open call for heavy metal singers and then recorded the part. So cool. Also, love your reactions/breakdowns dude, keep it up!
Loving your videos, man !! It brings me back to when I was in drumline and studying music. If you like mashups, Pluffaduff’s channel does wondrous ones, specifically, he mashed this track with a certain Soulja Boy song and it goes unfathomably hard !! They’ve also got a mashup included B.o.B. by OutKast that changed the song for me forever !! I’m wondering if it’ll have be same effect on you !!
As one of those people who enjoys this kind of music but isn't a musician myself I'd heard the term syncopation but never understood what it was. Very interesting tidbit, I'll have to keep an ear open for that going forward
Wow, I've listened to this song more times than I count but I guess but I'd never been able to hear that they're saying "Rip and tear!" (also a song from the game 😅) at the ending before. I thought it was just supposed to be a scary, unintelligible horde of demons marching after you. Great review!
OMG I was waiting for a new Doom track reaction for a while, no one did it recently. And I've basically watched every single reaction of doom tracks from the reactors 😂. And the best thing is that u are one of my fav music reactors cause I like the breakdowns!
Hey man, found you in the realm of JoJos, now we're here hahah So, I'm an arborist, I use chainsaws every day. The use of chainsaw in the soundtrack is nothing short of genius, accidental or not. At some points, I can hear the rpms of the engine used as synth. so, naturally Mick throttles up alot to mimic the action, using different sizes of engine for overall tone. I cannot express my level of concern when in Cultist base in game I entered an arena to the tune of a saw redlining, it really sets the overall ambience to a knife edge. I think you'd dig playing, if not just listening to more of the soundtrack. The game sounds are mixed in a way to fit into the music, as well. It will even change instrument sets when you swap weapons. Anyway, love the work, thanks!
The DOOM soundtrack and the band Dir En Grey is the only music I will listen to when cleaning my house. You need that aggressive energy when combating the dirt! The same goes for workouts. I swear my mind could lift a car with this in my ears xD My body maybe not.
I find it interesting that you always assume most of your viewers are already musicians. I have no idea but I have no clue about anything your saying but I find it interesting to listen to someone break down something in depth that they cleary understand and have a passion for.

This song is a rollercoaster, the descending chord around 9:15 is pure genius, Mick could have done the whole song repeating that part over and over and it would have just been great but like this is pure perfection.
If you ever feel useless remember there is an option to mute the music in doom
Yes finally some DOOM!! I also recommend you to react to the mjolnir mix of the Halo Theme
The best part about Mick Gordons "percussions" as you describe it (4:14) is literally just a sine wave.
A sine wave and 4 parallel channels of different effect pedals, small practise amps, a tape-to-tape reel and various other interesting things
All summed up on a mixer and compressed to, excuse my wording, hell
He did a talk about it on GDC, and there's some rather interesting things even for non-audio engineers
When the devil comes with his demons someone needs to blast this song on all the loud speakers around the world to get us all pump up to slay
There is a gamescon walk by Mick about he made the music including a vfx plugin to integrate a chainsaw into a guitar riff.
You should definitely listen to Metal Hell and Meathook, also from Doom Eternal and composed by Mick
this just makes me appreciate his music so much more!
Mick Gordon is on another level.
that "keyboard" effect was Mick Gordon in the studio with a rusty chainsaw! Check it out! SErisouly, Mick Gordon is a f%$king genius!
FINALLY i found a guy that LISTENS to the song
Thank you.
Welcome in fellow drumline player
I wish more people reacting to stuff were as analytical as you :D
"WHY does it thrash?" exactly!
Just dropped a new song and also dropping a music video this Sunday ! 💙🙏🏾thank y’all
Great vid man. Truely love the modern doom music. If you want another great doom theme you should check out BFG devision
This song is relentless.. always building to something
You might wanna check out and react to Bury The Light - Vergil's Theme. Absolute masterpiece.
Glad I found your channel through chainsaw man love your style of breaking down the music
Hey man, found you in the realm of JoJos, now we're here hahah
So, I'm an arborist, I use chainsaws every day.
Post 2 of asking Tony. You should really consider reacting to the "Sing my Pleasure" both regular and Grace version!!!
Another breakdown I watched talked about the dotted notes contributing to synchropation
You gotta listen Meathook track from Mick, YOU GOTTA, the energy delivery is CRAZY.
He was specifically asked to not use a guitar, so he used the next best thing.
If music can give you nightmeres this, is the song that does it
The DOOM soundtrack and the band Dir En Grey is the only music I will listen to when cleaning my house. You need that aggressive energy when combating the dirt! The same goes for workouts. I swear my mind could lift a car with this in my ears xD My body maybe not.
😅😅🤘🤘
alot of the songs in the doom eternal sound track use powertools like chainsaws put through a synth
6:16 if i'm not mistaken, i think that's the part where he said he used a lawnmower for the sound
Love the video such good descriptions of musical theory, incidentally you look like a slightly older Summit xD
You need to react to Bury the Light! You gonna love it
Doom Eternal is an album that comes with a game
I love this one, i think you're going to like Shadow Warrior 2 main theme
I find it interesting that you always assume most of your viewers are already musicians. I have no idea but I have no clue about anything your saying but I find it interesting to listen to someone break down something in depth that they cleary understand and have a passion for.
RUN!! by takeshi ueda. it's the sabikui bisko theme (but not the opening. it's strange. it just pops up sometimes, but it kicks a whole lot of ass)
you HAVE to react to more of the DOOM 2016 soundtracks and DOOM eternal. I recommend the super gore best and rip and tear!!!
Ok now Meathook , Super gore nest and metal hell
Sick react! Gotta react to BFG Division also by Mick Gordon
Please react to Bury the Light from the Devil May Cry 5 soundtrack!
Same wish!
A reaction for bury the light would be cool(DMC 5)
I Recommend listening to Ludwig the accursed & the holy blade from Bloodborne, love your analysis.
His music from katana zero, have you gave them a listen?
Would love to see you breakdown the couple Valorant video game music videos! Riot kills it with their league of legends cinematics and music as well. :)
You should listen to Cultist Base, another banger from Mick
You should listen to super gore nest, one of my favorites
This music makes me kill demons then realise my PC isn’t booted up yet.
Interesante, estaría bueno que reaccionara también a la música de PayDay 2, tiene muy buena música y hace que mientras juegues no puedas parar de dejarte llevar por el ritmo
Listen Urdak / Angelic Theme from DOOM Eternal, that shit is scary.
Try the old version of this song it has a cool build up
this is the type of music I listen to when playing chess
Listen to the Demon Vocal Cover of Alex Terrible 😀
love these videos, have you considered doing sort of like a music for dummies video like I've heard you use words like syncopation, four on the floor, 6 something, have you thought about doing a video explaining stuff like that?
