DMC 5 quickly became my favorite DMC and even favorite action game. The combat is just unparalleled especially if playing as Vergil. One could say in no other game I am that motivated.
Just a reminder that V IS Vergil, Vergils character development here is because of what V did. Without his demonic side Vergil is just a poetry loving nerd.
It's cool how Nero helped Dante and Vergil cope with their childhood trauma by punching them in the face. It's also sweet that Dante knows that Vergil felt abandoned on the night his mother died so now he wants to stay by his side to atone for the tragedy of what befell their family. Vergil giving Nero V's book which is filled with his own childhood memories is a good way for him to learn about his family while they're off in hell, This game is a lot deeper than it would seem and gives a lot of closure to the characters.

It's a pseudo-DT that he has in 4, but yeah, it's a bit of a shame. I love the look of both his true Devil Trigger and his Persona form, though; Very very well designed
The spectral Devil Trigger in 4 is Nero's unawakened form being projected by the Devil Bringer (his demonic arm) and powered by Yamato. When Vergil reclaims Yamato after ripping off his son's arm, the katana retained the spectral projection ability from the Devil Bringer, which allowed Vergil to use the Doppelganger ability. When Nero awakened his Devil Trigger in DMC5, he regained his spectral projection ability after tapping into his true power, allowing him to summon spectral swords, Mirage Yamato, and spectral wyvern arms to perform Buster attacks and Snatch/Bound abilities again. The actual design of the DT form is like a cross between Credo Angelo's devil form and the Savior, and the DMC5 version is almost angelic in appearance with the addition of the wings on Nero's shoulders.
There’s a manga called Visions of V that gives more detail as to V’s perspective and memories through the events of the game. There’s no official translation but there are easily accessible fan translations. It’s is a fantastic read that expands on the story and V’s feelings.
After reading and finishing that manga, i'm seriously wishing if there will be another DMC game (and there better f**king be) then V could return somehow, preferebly as an artifical demon created by Vergil himself (just like how Mundus created Trish in Eva's image), so that way V could be an entirely different being than Vergil but will still retain his old personalities and trait... i dunno, just a thought
@Quốc Thắng Lê Kỳ I mean vergil had quite some power ups this game, including eating that damn fruit. He may be able too. I doubt he will though. Vergil would have no reason to make a replica of his human half. Even less so if that doesn't equal the actual V comming back and being his own person ala KH. If the V look alike is just a new character, it's not V. And Vergil has no reason to go down that route. I would love V to come back as he's my favorite character. But I think there are better story ways to acomplish this, like Vergil splitting himself for some purpose again, or vergil learning to shift between his 3 forms so sometimes he is V, sometimes Urizen, sometimes Vergil (but in full control of himself every time). Could be fun to shift between the 3 forms during combat as well.

Quite literally the only relevant summary of DMC 5 (not my original idea obv) : Vergil hired Vergil's brother and Vergil's son to fight Vergil so Vergil and Vergil could merge and become Vergil again, and now with the existance of the Ultimate edition, you can also now play as Vergil, where you can fight Vergil as Vergil before fighting Vergil's brother, twice

Fun fact: Artemis, the second boss (not counting prologue Urizen and the Qlipoth roots), is the demon form of the gun that you get in DMC3 with the same name. When Urizen beat the crap outta Trish, Lady and Dante, he took the ladies and used them as the cores of artificially constructed demons. Artemis was based around the Devil arm and used Lady as its core since Artemis is a gun and Lady is the best with guns, while Cavaliere Angelo used Trish as its core and gained electrical powers based on Trish's own. (Angelos are basically artificially made demons created when a soul is placed inside of a demonic body like a AA battery inside of a TV remote. Based on Nelo Angelo and Cavliere Angelo, an Angelo will gain abilities relative to the powers of the soul that powers them, hence Cav's lighting and Nelo's Vergil-like powers.)
I know its been a year since you posted this, but another fun fact, Nelo Angelo is actually Nero Angelo, hence why son's name is also Nero, it was just a mistranslation by the english team, akin to Hank being Hunk in Resident Evil franchise

Btw the team behind the game made the character V before Kylo Ren and they said that when they went to see the movie at release they looked at each other and said the Japanese equivalent of "shiiit..." (kusoooo) not believing he looked exactly like their character

V is pretty cool...sadly, on higher difficulties, his damage is highly lacking. So the veterans of the game absolutely despise V due to his weaknesses, despite that being an important plot point.
theres that along with his moveset is really limited compared to the other 3 and his mechanics while experamental, do end up feeling a bit clunky and gimmicky. Him being weak in the plot really dosent need to nor should it really line up with him in gameplay as it really contradicts every playable characters moveset and gameplay since DMC1.
The comic goes more in depth in the significance of this battle. What makes this fight more sad between the Griffin, Shadow, and Nightmare is they willing did this because they were going to die anyways seeing the willing separated themselves from Vergil, but wanted to go out on their own terms. They knew they couldn't beat Dante, but wanted to test him to see if he was worthy of Vergil. The grew fond of V with all the time they spent together, and seeing they were born of his nightmares of being tortured by Mundus, they didn't want to go back to Vergil to rid him of his nightmares. And if you didn't know this: Shadow, Nightmare, and Griffin are the reincarnated bosses of the first DMC game. The music that was playing was from the original DMC soundtrack when you fought the bosses. When they were reincarnated, Phantom was also, however he was so evil and full of hatred that V and the rest teamed up against him to kill him. That's why the Phantom isn't one of V's familiars.
The demons that V summons are literally Vergils Inner Demons. They refused to return to Vergil and be killed by Dante so that they could no longer torment Vergil

This was a really fun game that really brought back some history with fun gameplay. It also shows that this brotherly rivalry never seems to end even though they always have each others backs 😂 Don’t listen to the part of the community that hates on V. They hate nero too, the different demension DMC and dmc2. Theres no pleasing them so their not worth paying attention to.
Also if you notice that was the first time Nero’s devil trigger formed. But if you look up Sparda their father, Nero’s devil is the closet to looking like his grandfathers form. the fact that he can change his form by being his arm in and out makes me wonder if he actually has more devil powers than Virgil or Dante even though he’s only a quarter of the devil blood.
Quick notes: V's book is actually William Blake poems, and you can actually find and read the full poems instead of the small snippets that V quotes. He mostly quotes from Proverbs of Hell, but his most interesting and true line at the moment was his introduction to Dante with A Infant's Joy: "I have no name. I am but 2 days old." Since at that time, *spoilers* he was born 2 days prior because of the split between him and Urizen from Vergil. Also when there are split paths in the game, you are in a link mission where someone else is playing that mission from a different character's pov: example: Nero's 4 and V's 5 are connected, Prologue is connected with 10 where you come in shortly after Dante. And even the one where you can choose to be 1 of the 3 other characters, you actually will see whoever chose to be those 3 proceed with their own mission and will either finish it before you or die and have to start over and you may get done before they return. The link missions' other people will show up on the side when it's an actual person playing that character, and even show their emblem. I am abit sad that you cut off the part where V actually has a bad reaction to seeing the Proto Nelo knights on the sliding Theater boss battle as that points even more to V being Vergil and having a very bad memory from being Nero/Nelo Angelo, since that was when Vergil was under the control of Mundus. Even V's Familiars are pulled from Vergil's memories of when he was under Mundus's control since those 3 are enemies from the first game, with Griffon and Nightmare both being bosses while Shadow is just a regular enemy.

I also recently bought and played it for the first time. I've already beaten it once and i started vergil's campaign but it was absolutely worth the money. This and MGR:R were both so worth the money I spent on them
Nero being Vergil's spawn is quite literally one of the, if not THE worst kept secret in videogames history and yet a good chunks of people still got baby-gender-reveal kind of surprised when the reveal came

This game was short but so worth it and very fun. Playing V was too easy that's why some people saying sh*t like that 😆😅. Don't mind them. Just play the way you want 😁👍
Fun fact: In the Bloody Palace, Goliath has a few different voicelines for when you stagger him, one of which happens to be, "*roars in pain* My balls!!" This is not a joke, its an actual thing. Another fun fact: Balrog, the fire gloves/boots, is a demon that Dante fought prior to the events of the game. After they fought, Balrog realized that he wasn't strong enough to beat Dante and decided to become a devil arm, that way Dante could use him and Balrog could get stronger so that they could eventually have a rematch. According to some scrapped voiclines, actually Balrog wanted to himself to be a boss ingame, so I'd say that a Dante v. Balrog fight is due for DMC 6.
V for me always just felt like they looked at Genesis from Crisis Core and thought "how do we turn that into a likeable character?" but somehow they actually managed it. I know he's not "technically" dead but... I lowkey hated it when the true Vergil came back 😅
remember in dmc3 when that priest, the father of Lady, said "a storm is approaching". That's where that sentence come in with this song, because vergil is and was that storm. crazy
Its amazing seeing your journey through this series DMC is what made me seek more capcom and and introduced me to some amazing games like RE series 💙 DMC 5 is definitely the best one so far the only problem I have with it is you need to do some homework to understand something Like how is Niko and way is she with Nero and kiria? What did v do between being born and him going to Dante for this job? What happens in the aftermath of DMC4? For anyone who had the same questions there all side stories outside the game you need to understand 😂💙
My fav fight in DMC 5 is the fighter against Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare - I'm not sure if you knew this but they were all notorious enemies from DMC 1: *SPOILERS INCOMING* 1) Shadow was a hell of an enemy and one of the most iconic mobs in the game, 2) Griffon was the massive lightning bird boss fight that you fought in the Castle Garden after getting Ifrit and a few times after that, 3) Nightmare was the big blob you fought in the Castle's Chapel and later in the Underworld after Trish lures you to it When Griffon says it's "the end of Virgils Nightmares", he means that they were all spawned from Virgil's lingering emotions as his time as Nelo Angelo in DMC 1, all the pain and suffering he felt being a slave to Mundus, all his anguish and sorrow spawned those 3 to serve as his familiars while he's V; the three of them knew that as long as they existed, Virgil could never move on from his nightmares of his time as a slave, so they sacrificed themselves for him. The emotional stakes in that fight are intense, and if you ever get the chance I highly recommend reading the "Visions of V" manga, it goes into a lot of detail regarding just how close those little guys get to V, especially Griffon and Shadow, and it makes their sacrifice for him so much more impactful, at first they wanted just to survive, but at the very end they knew that the only way for their master to be at peace was to die...
Everytime I watch someone play this series and make their way to 5 it just reminds me how much I love it. It really reinforces how long it’s been and I can’t even believe it’s been like 3 years since 5 released already. Amazing video 🙏

You probably figured this out by now since you beat the game and stuff, but when V says that was the only way he could wake him up, he’s 100% being real. He wasn’t trying to kill him there, he really did understand the only way to wake Dante up would be attempt to kill him with one of Sparda’s devil arms, as his body would send the weapon and danger. And obviously Yamato and Rebellion weren’t available at the time.
Hold on. If Dante and Virgil are brothers, and Nero is Virgil's son, that means that Dante is Nero's uncle- BUT WHO IS THE MOTHER OF NERO??????? Do demons just not have sex?
This game sets up so many awesome mechanics to be used in DMC 6. Lady and Trish for example could both retain a spark of their demon forms, giving them unique Devil Trigger mechanics: Lady's hair turns white and she sprouts a set of Artemis' wings, letting her hover at full sprint speed while using her guns, which would make her skill set much more versatile. Plus she may have a more organic looking version of the Artemis weapon that form was created from. Trish on the other hand lost her main weapon with the Sparda fusing into Dante, so she may be able to summon the Cavaliere Angelo's lighting sword. It even has a lance form to extend the range of her version of the Stinger move. Adding some chain lightning effects and charge attacks can help distinguish her set more from Dante's as well. As her DT she may then summon parts of the Angelo armor - maybe even a Sin-DT-like form that turns her into a full size version of the boss (though looking more like her). Also I'm really hoping for a mid-game boss fight that's set in the demon realm, where you have to knock out Dante and Vergil to recruit them, because they have completely lost themselves in their fight. The arena is basically a giant dust bowl with limited visibility - since at this point their battle has reduced everything in a huge radius to ashes, which are constantly kicked up again. Both are in their full demonic form and just keep instinctively battling each other, neither getting an edge over the other before they recover. As an interruption, both turn their attention to the player instead, and you have to fight them both. With one caveat: As long as either is still standing, the other will eventually get back up again. So you have to make sure you whittle them down somewhat equally to knock them out faster than they can recover. This could also be a good point to allow Trish to recover the discarded Cavaliere. Since it originates as part of her demon form, that may be the catalyst that unlocks her fully armored DT...

It's entirely possible that she could retain lasting changes from that, similar to how the cult gave their subjects devil powers in DMC 4. Definitely not the biggest leap in logic the franchise has done, and it would allow her to catch up to the rest of the roster and stay relevant.

Gryphon, shadow, and nightmare are the physical forms of Vergil’s trauma from being Nelo Angelo in dmc 1. They all have names of recurring bosses in the game
LOL couldn't tell exactly if that wiggle of excitement at 30:20 was over learning who V was or seeing him naked :P "If he doesn't call me scum, then I don't want it." "PLEASE call me scum. It's all I ask." "Are you gonna call me scum or naaaahhhut....?" "WAIT he called me scum and I MISSED IT!?" ......WHAT!? (I'm only saying that for those who've never played 3. Ah context, my old friend) I'm an old woman now, I was 19 when the first DMC came out. Watching it go from the team on RE4 to what it's become has been glorious, I matured on the series. Despite what everyone said about 4, I quite loved the Dante portions (the updated ports for 3 are because of that, and I'm grateful. Watching devs learn what can be done and gamers exploit it is joyful) but wasn't hyper-keen on Nero... but the tone? I enjoyed the tone. DMC Devil May Cry with Donte was a good game, more basic, great fun.... but it didn't respect the original series, and I didn't appreciate it. Enjoyed it for what it was and moved on, never expected to see Tony Redgrave ever again, sadly. Then someone, somewhere, decided to write a love letter.
So according to the lore, the reason that Dante starts each game without the devil arms he got in the last game is that he sells his devil arms after each game is over. A demon becomes a devil arm through one of two ways: The main way is that the demon is killed and their opponent takes their soul as a weapon bearing their name. Since they're dead, the demon's consciousness is gone and their soul will forever be in the form of a weapon, as is the case with devil arms like Cavaliere, King Cerberus, and Beowulf. The other way is that the demon surrenders and relinquishes their soul willingly to their opponent. When this happens, the demon retains consciousness since it's not dead, and is merely in the form of a weapon. That's why you can hear Balrog's voice when Dante uses his attacks. When you use Nevan in DMC3, you're strumming the strings of a living electric guitar (which I can only assume feels quite pleasurable to Nevan herself, if ya know what I mean). But living devil arms can still turn back into their normal demon forms. So if Nevan was still alive in DMC 3, and Dante sold all his devil arms at the end of game, that begs the question: ??What the hell happened to Nevan??
If I could please make a recommendation if you would love to know more about the story of devil May cry there's a TH-camr by the name of eruptionfang who did an entire 3 hour unabridged timeline that explains everything from when they were kids and Sparta was alive to devil May cry 5
I genuinely love that ending! We see Vergil actually getting along with Dante! Not only does he drop his "tough guy" voice briefly, but we see him genuinely smile when he says "we've got plenty of time" 😄
To be honest one of the most commom criticism for DMC 4 is how annoyingly obnoxious Kyrie was and how her presence kinda dumb down Nero's personality cause all that people saw was how much of a beta simp he is for her, so personally i really like how they sidelines her sooooo much in this game while not erasing her existance entirely
I stayed away from the DMC series for so long. And always thought of Dante as the "too cool for cool. Edgy bro" Character. But playing all these games... I love the cheesy nature of Dantes one liners, and the absolue Kino, that they put into their cutscenes.
Lol Sarah falling in love with V was so funny to me. Unsure if it was answered but pretty sure Vergil had an illicit affair with a priestess from Nero's home city.. Or its heavily implied when he was wounded he was nursed back to health by a priestess and they yeah lol.
20:40 Nero's actually there but the AI for Nero is so bad that at most runs he dies. That's why I prefer using Nero because the V AI is so much better.
Man do I love devil may cry. The fifth game was the greatest gift ever for me, both when it was announced and when it released. But goddamn is the story shallow in the last two games :DD Main characters in 4th like Credo and Kyrie got much less time and personality than they deserved. And the hole plot of the 5th game revolves around Vergil wanting to revert his decaying state, which caused Urizen to appear which kickstarted the events of the game and all the destruction and deaths which led to his resurrection and at the end he's gotta go and fix the mess of his own creation. Also the "if I beat Nero I beat you, agreed?" logic level of a 10 year old child, also Nero becoming the most powerful damn thing in the game's universe after a phone call :DD Hope to christ the next game keeps the same level of gameplay complexity and adds a better storyline.

DMC 5 quickly became my favorite DMC and even favorite action game. The combat is just unparalleled especially if playing as Vergil. One could say in no other game I am that motivated.

It's cool how Nero helped Dante and Vergil cope with their childhood trauma by punching them in the face. It's also sweet that Dante knows that Vergil felt abandoned on the night his mother died so now he wants to stay by his side to atone for the tragedy of what befell their family. Vergil giving Nero V's book which is filled with his own childhood memories is a good way for him to learn about his family while they're off in hell, This game is a lot deeper than it would seem and gives a lot of closure to the characters.

I never realized until playing 5 that Nero never technically had a devil trigger in 4. That’s pretty cool that he actually gets one in this game.
It's a pseudo-DT that he has in 4, but yeah, it's a bit of a shame. I love the look of both his true Devil Trigger and his Persona form, though; Very very well designed

The spectral Devil Trigger in 4 is Nero's unawakened form being projected by the Devil Bringer (his demonic arm) and powered by Yamato.
When Vergil reclaims Yamato after ripping off his son's arm, the katana retained the spectral projection ability from the Devil Bringer, which allowed Vergil to use the Doppelganger ability.
When Nero awakened his Devil Trigger in DMC5, he regained his spectral projection ability after tapping into his true power, allowing him to summon spectral swords, Mirage Yamato, and spectral wyvern arms to perform Buster attacks and Snatch/Bound abilities again.
The actual design of the DT form is like a cross between Credo Angelo's devil form and the Savior, and the DMC5 version is almost angelic in appearance with the addition of the wings on Nero's shoulders.
There’s a manga called Visions of V that gives more detail as to V’s perspective and memories through the events of the game. There’s no official translation but there are easily accessible fan translations. It’s is a fantastic read that expands on the story and V’s feelings.

Vergil would have no reason to make a replica of his human half. Even less so if that doesn't equal the actual V comming back and being his own person ala KH. If the V look alike is just a new character, it's not V. And Vergil has no reason to go down that route. I would love V to come back as he's my favorite character. But I think there are better story ways to acomplish this, like Vergil splitting himself for some purpose again, or vergil learning to shift between his 3 forms so sometimes he is V, sometimes Urizen, sometimes Vergil (but in full control of himself every time). Could be fun to shift between the 3 forms during combat as well.

Fun fact: Artemis, the second boss (not counting prologue Urizen and the Qlipoth roots), is the demon form of the gun that you get in DMC3 with the same name.
When Urizen beat the crap outta Trish, Lady and Dante, he took the ladies and used them as the cores of artificially constructed demons. Artemis was based around the Devil arm and used Lady as its core since Artemis is a gun and Lady is the best with guns, while Cavaliere Angelo used Trish as its core and gained electrical powers based on Trish's own. (Angelos are basically artificially made demons created when a soul is placed inside of a demonic body like a AA battery inside of a TV remote. Based on Nelo Angelo and Cavliere Angelo, an Angelo will gain abilities relative to the powers of the soul that powers them, hence Cav's lighting and Nelo's Vergil-like powers.)
I know its been a year since you posted this, but another fun fact, Nelo Angelo is actually Nero Angelo, hence why son's name is also Nero, it was just a mistranslation by the english team, akin to Hank being Hunk in Resident Evil franchise

theres that along with his moveset is really limited compared to the other 3 and his mechanics while experamental, do end up feeling a bit clunky and gimmicky. Him being weak in the plot really dosent need to nor should it really line up with him in gameplay as it really contradicts every playable characters moveset and gameplay since DMC1.
The comic goes more in depth in the significance of this battle. What makes this fight more sad between the Griffin, Shadow, and Nightmare is they willing did this because they were going to die anyways seeing the willing separated themselves from Vergil, but wanted to go out on their own terms. They knew they couldn't beat Dante, but wanted to test him to see if he was worthy of Vergil. The grew fond of V with all the time they spent together, and seeing they were born of his nightmares of being tortured by Mundus, they didn't want to go back to Vergil to rid him of his nightmares.
And if you didn't know this: Shadow, Nightmare, and Griffin are the reincarnated bosses of the first DMC game. The music that was playing was from the original DMC soundtrack when you fought the bosses. When they were reincarnated, Phantom was also, however he was so evil and full of hatred that V and the rest teamed up against him to kill him. That's why the Phantom isn't one of V's familiars.

the fact that he can change his form by being his arm in and out makes me wonder if he actually has more devil powers than Virgil or Dante even though he’s only a quarter of the devil blood.
Quick notes: V's book is actually William Blake poems, and you can actually find and read the full poems instead of the small snippets that V quotes. He mostly quotes from Proverbs of Hell, but his most interesting and true line at the moment was his introduction to Dante with A Infant's Joy: "I have no name. I am but 2 days old." Since at that time,

he was born 2 days prior because of the split between him and Urizen from Vergil.
Also when there are split paths in the game, you are in a link mission where someone else is playing that mission from a different character's pov: example: Nero's 4 and V's 5 are connected, Prologue is connected with 10 where you come in shortly after Dante. And even the one where you can choose to be 1 of the 3 other characters, you actually will see whoever chose to be those 3 proceed with their own mission and will either finish it before you or die and have to start over and you may get done before they return. The link missions' other people will show up on the side when it's an actual person playing that character, and even show their emblem.
I am abit sad that you cut off the part where V actually has a bad reaction to seeing the Proto Nelo knights on the sliding Theater boss battle as that points even more to V being Vergil and having a very bad memory from being Nero/Nelo Angelo, since that was when Vergil was under the control of Mundus. Even V's Familiars are pulled from Vergil's memories of when he was under Mundus's control since those 3 are enemies from the first game, with Griffon and Nightmare both being bosses while Shadow is just a regular enemy.

Fun fact: In the Bloody Palace, Goliath has a few different voicelines for when you stagger him, one of which happens to be, "*roars in pain* My balls!!" This is not a joke, its an actual thing.
Another fun fact: Balrog, the fire gloves/boots, is a demon that Dante fought prior to the events of the game. After they fought, Balrog realized that he wasn't strong enough to beat Dante and decided to become a devil arm, that way Dante could use him and Balrog could get stronger so that they could eventually have a rematch. According to some scrapped voiclines, actually Balrog wanted to himself to be a boss ingame, so I'd say that a Dante v. Balrog fight is due for DMC 6.
V for me always just felt like they looked at Genesis from Crisis Core and thought "how do we turn that into a likeable character?" but somehow they actually managed it.

My fav fight in DMC 5 is the fighter against Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare - I'm not sure if you knew this but they were all notorious enemies from DMC 1: *SPOILERS INCOMING*
1) Shadow was a hell of an enemy and one of the most iconic mobs in the game,
2) Griffon was the massive lightning bird boss fight that you fought in the Castle Garden after getting Ifrit and a few times after that,
3) Nightmare was the big blob you fought in the Castle's Chapel and later in the Underworld after Trish lures you to it
When Griffon says it's "the end of Virgils Nightmares", he means that they were all spawned from Virgil's lingering emotions as his time as Nelo Angelo in DMC 1, all the pain and suffering he felt being a slave to Mundus, all his anguish and sorrow spawned those 3 to serve as his familiars while he's V; the three of them knew that as long as they existed, Virgil could never move on from his nightmares of his time as a slave, so they sacrificed themselves for him.
The emotional stakes in that fight are intense, and if you ever get the chance I highly recommend reading the "Visions of V" manga, it goes into a lot of detail regarding just how close those little guys get to V, especially Griffon and Shadow, and it makes their sacrifice for him so much more impactful, at first they wanted just to survive, but at the very end they knew that the only way for their master to be at peace was to die...
Technically danta and virgil can come back Yamato can open and close portal at will the Sean isn't accurate or at the least one of them can

You probably figured this out by now since you beat the game and stuff, but when V says that was the only way he could wake him up, he’s 100% being real. He wasn’t trying to kill him there, he really did understand the only way to wake Dante up would be attempt to kill him with one of Sparda’s devil arms, as his body would send the weapon and danger. And obviously Yamato and Rebellion weren’t available at the time.
Hold on. If Dante and Virgil are brothers, and Nero is Virgil's son, that means that Dante is Nero's uncle-

This game sets up so many awesome mechanics to be used in DMC 6. Lady and Trish for example could both retain a spark of their demon forms, giving them unique Devil Trigger mechanics:
Lady's hair turns white and she sprouts a set of Artemis' wings, letting her hover at full sprint speed while using her guns, which would make her skill set much more versatile. Plus she may have a more organic looking version of the Artemis weapon that form was created from.
Trish on the other hand lost her main weapon with the Sparda fusing into Dante, so she may be able to summon the Cavaliere Angelo's lighting sword. It even has a lance form to extend the range of her version of the Stinger move. Adding some chain lightning effects and charge attacks can help distinguish her set more from Dante's as well. As her DT she may then summon parts of the Angelo armor - maybe even a Sin-DT-like form that turns her into a full size version of the boss (though looking more like her).
Also I'm really hoping for a mid-game boss fight that's set in the demon realm, where you have to knock out Dante and Vergil to recruit them, because they have completely lost themselves in their fight. The arena is basically a giant dust bowl with limited visibility - since at this point their battle has reduced everything in a huge radius to ashes, which are constantly kicked up again. Both are in their full demonic form and just keep instinctively battling each other, neither getting an edge over the other before they recover.
As an interruption, both turn their attention to the player instead, and you have to fight them both. With one caveat: As long as either is still standing, the other will eventually get back up again. So you have to make sure you whittle them down somewhat equally to knock them out faster than they can recover.
This could also be a good point to allow Trish to recover the discarded Cavaliere. Since it originates as part of her demon form, that may be the catalyst that unlocks her fully armored DT...
That would be a good concept, but you're forgetting one itsy bitsy teensy but ever so crucial little tiny detail:
Lady is a full-blooded human.

Definitely not the biggest leap in logic the franchise has done, and it would allow her to catch up to the rest of the roster and stay relevant.

I'm an old woman now, I was 19 when the first DMC came out. Watching it go from the team on RE4 to what it's become has been glorious, I matured on the series. Despite what everyone said about 4, I quite loved the Dante portions (the updated ports for 3 are because of that, and I'm grateful. Watching devs learn what can be done and gamers exploit it is joyful) but wasn't hyper-keen on Nero... but the tone? I enjoyed the tone.
DMC Devil May Cry with Donte was a good game, more basic, great fun.... but it didn't respect the original series, and I didn't appreciate it. Enjoyed it for what it was and moved on, never expected to see Tony Redgrave ever again, sadly.

You are not the first to make that comparison, you will not be the last.
So according to the lore, the reason that Dante starts each game without the devil arms he got in the last game is that he sells his devil arms after each game is over. A demon becomes a devil arm through one of two ways:
The main way is that the demon is killed and their opponent takes their soul as a weapon bearing their name. Since they're dead, the demon's consciousness is gone and their soul will forever be in the form of a weapon, as is the case with devil arms like Cavaliere, King Cerberus, and Beowulf.
The other way is that the demon surrenders and relinquishes their soul willingly to their opponent. When this happens, the demon retains consciousness since it's not dead, and is merely in the form of a weapon. That's why you can hear Balrog's voice when Dante uses his attacks. When you use Nevan in DMC3, you're strumming the strings of a living electric guitar (which I can only assume feels quite pleasurable to Nevan herself, if ya know what I mean).
But living devil arms can still turn back into their normal demon forms. So if Nevan was still alive in DMC 3, and Dante sold all his devil arms at the end of game, that begs the question:
??What the hell happened to Nevan??

To be honest one of the most commom criticism for DMC 4 is how annoyingly obnoxious Kyrie was and how her presence kinda dumb down Nero's personality cause all that people saw was how much of a beta simp he is for her, so personally i really like how they sidelines her sooooo much in this game while not erasing her existance entirely

I stayed away from the DMC series for so long. And always thought of Dante as the "too cool for cool. Edgy bro" Character. But playing all these games... I love the cheesy nature of Dantes one liners, and the absolue Kino, that they put into their cutscenes.

Unsure if it was answered but pretty sure Vergil had an illicit affair with a priestess from Nero's home city.. Or its heavily implied when he was wounded he was nursed back to health by a priestess and they yeah lol.

20:40 Nero's actually there but the AI for Nero is so bad that at most runs he dies. That's why I prefer using Nero because the V AI is so much better.

Man do I love devil may cry. The fifth game was the greatest gift ever for me, both when it was announced and when it released. But goddamn is the story shallow in the last two games :DD Main characters in 4th like Credo and Kyrie got much less time and personality than they deserved. And the hole plot of the 5th game revolves around Vergil wanting to revert his decaying state, which caused Urizen to appear which kickstarted the events of the game and all the destruction and deaths which led to his resurrection and at the end he's gotta go and fix the mess of his own creation. Also the "if I beat Nero I beat you, agreed?" logic level of a 10 year old child, also Nero becoming the most powerful damn thing in the game's universe after a phone call :DD Hope to christ the next game keeps the same level of gameplay complexity and adds a better storyline.
