I’m your stereotypical money-burning BMW fan. I have the ///M hat, though don’t wear it. I have an M3 (after 7 other M cars) and a 2020 S 1000 RR M Sport. I am that guy. The love for the S1000RR reflects an aesthetic. It’s the deep appreciation for intelligence and diligence seeking perfection. Once flashed to undo the vandalism BMW performed to comply with US regs, it gets as close as you can get to motorcycle perfection. It’s rocket fast, flicks like a 600, has gobs of midrange for when you’re relaxed, buttery-smooth quick shifter/blipper, its riding electronics cover up all but your most egregious errors, has the best TFT console in the business, and then has all the BMW luxury features like heated grips, Bluetooth phone/helmet integration, cruise control, Nav, self-canceling turn signals and even hill stop assist. You revel in the way that BMW engineers anticipated and fulfilled your every want. The aesthetic also makes us get beautiful wives/girlfriends, nice cars, homes, etc. But for some apparently, this Teutonic aesthetic is too cold and clinical. They instead treat imperfections as synonymous with character, instead of the flaws BMW seeks to excise. The wide psychological spectrum makes the world interesting. I like it that some prefer Triumphs and mercifully date the fat girl with zits.
I like the way you brought back the history video series (my favourite), and you managed to do it as promised with click bait goodness. I wish these were a little longer but I’m loving the “so you want (a history lesson)” series, my new favourite.

That whole "boring, cold and clinical" view you have for the bike is not the fault of the bike, its your perception of it,and if you think of it that way all the time thats going to be how you end up viewing it.The bike does have a soul, just because it has electronic aids and is made in Germany doesn't make it any boring or less fun than a "authentic no aids motorcycle".There has been a huge deal going on with people thinking that the electronic aids make it to where the motorcycle is a nanny for the rider, and makes it less fun,i can say the exact opposite, those rider aids let me push the bike to limits that you can not as a human physically even compete with. But I digress, ill make a video on it sooner or later.
🥱For a second I thought this was a Harley channel with all the talk about soul and character which loosely translates into “we can’t build a better bike than our competition so let’s just say our bikes inefficiencies, lack of refinement and technology are good things (character) and a motorcycle built by a brand that spends a ton of time and money developing great motorcycles that are refined, efficient and full of cutting edge tech soulless” Look I get it. If you can’t beat them bash them or talk about consumer report unscientific study from like a decade ago with some brand(s) and motorcycles that no longer even exist and say see Japanese good, Europe bad but for some reason consumer report also stated that BMW riders enjoyed their motorcycles more than the Japanese owners but that info is usually left out. How can a 200hp light weight hyper bike be boring? I’ve owned Japanese, Italian, American and European motorcycles and none of them ever gave me any real problems. Just check the specs, test ride and decide. Trust yourself and no one else

Yammie obfuscated the summary of the S1000RR pedantically ;>) . I'll go to the garage and blow the dust off my '91 homoglated ZXR750R if I want my teeth rattled or I want to earn my high noons. I waited for decades for BMW to release, and when they did I grabbed one and then again for the final production run of the 1st gen in '18. My segue platform was the '09 R1 simply for the cross plane. The bike, R1, was absolute $4!+ on paper but the ride for me felt like turn 8 at Willow Springs in the late 90s. In the end, whatever a rider chooses, I think it's important the platform meets or exceeds the expectations. Yammie may be a grom in this culture but his perspective has always made me chuckle because he's on point with only a few years off the grid. Keep up the great work Yammie. S1000RR owners shouldn't be butt hurt. If you are, pat yourself on the back and go trade it in, you obviously have the livelihood to execute and remove that buyer's remorse.

I find it a very stable-riding bike. I do have some nits to pick with it and we'll see what the list is like after its first service. It is my first BMW and yes, I did buy a BMW hat to go with it. We all know he's the rich old dude, but he doesn't ever say anything about it and he doesn't really flaunt it. If you go to his house, his garage is nothing short of a MotoGP bay with everything you need to work on your bike. But the guy really is humble, hell just yesterday the guy asked if he could ride my 2017 KTM RC390 as he offered his bike to me. I gladly switched and we rode a good 50 miles in each others saddle. All that being said I can understand where Yammy is coming from tho. These bikes take money to own and care for, and that usually brings about a certain type of person.
I have one, it’s freaking ridiculously awesome. On track it’s amazing. I don’t love it on the street, I think my KTM RC390 might be more fun there. The 390 is lighter, and you can use all the gears. I probably don’t exceed 20% throttle more than 5% of the time I ride the S1000RR on the daily. I’d also suggest the S1000RR doesn’t have much soul, I find Ducati’s warm hearts more.

I don't understand how can someone call S1000RR "soulless". BMW has a long history as a motorcycle manufacturer so naturally they - if anybody - know how to make the "perfect" bike. This is like saying that Rolex or Patek Philippe watches are soulless since they just are "too perfect" and "too well engineered and crafted".
Just want to add that in 2010 the S1000 rr won every SBK Superstock 1000 race with Ayrton Badovinin winning the championship in 2010 - Silvian Barrier 2012 -2013 - 2016 -2018. Unfortunately the FIM stopped the SBK SUPERSTOCK 1000 CC Racing category. It broke lap records every year race after race. :)
The s1000rr is probably one the best litre bikes ever made, I own a 2013 hp4 and as I agree with what your saying you simply can’t compare the bike with others like this the bike as you say is a master piece and should be held as such the bike had a lot of character and it’s soul is black and cold underneath all the refinement. I’ve owned lots of leader bikes and the Bmw is simply put as the best!
the reason you buy a s1000rr is simply the fact, that the price is amazing for what you get...if you want the same stuff on a suzuki or a yamaha etc. you pay 2000 more for those and they arent even close the horsepowr
There aren’t my bag really, the litre sports bikes. However, soul isn’t something I consider in them if I was after one. Precision, and fine details yes. These things are like a scalpel. Not a chunk hunting knife.... For the public roads they are getting a bit much but if you want one, have the riding skill and money.... go for it. And the BMW would be on my list. Probably at the top in fairness. A creaky back and desire for a bit comfort guide me elsewhere but I totally get why someone would pick this bike.
Its obvious you are getting your own opinion into this, on the contrary the s1000rr is the most refine and practical bike ever made because it’s well made , I say that based on long experience
I have Ducati Monster and just got S1000RR. Yes, it's a bit soulless compared to my Monster. Everything is controlled by a computer, good computer anyway. But gosh! As an engineering guy this is such a terrific crotch rocket. Sense like they thought of everything. 200 HP seems to be less intimidating than 80 HP Monster when in rain and road mode. Race mode on track? OMFG it's such a terrifying fun lol. And I would argue that this is such a good looking machine, I can look at it all day. If you want S1000RR, just get S1000RR. It's fun having 2-wheel computer with you.
Well, i have personally never ridden one, but I think the differemce is car and motorcycle culture in germany. I am german and BMW as well as Mercedes or Audi, have a very different design and Performance philosophy. Germans for example, still love to drive manual. Vast majority of cars is manual. It is also mandatory to do your license on a manual, if you want the full license. It is also way harder, longer and more expensive, than in the US. Our Roads are better, the rules stricter, the drivers are better trained and there is no speed limit. Everything in german traffic requires a very hugh amount of skill and control and the vehicles are specifically designed to match that. Maybe if yoi grew up here, you would think differently. All the best wishes from germany :)
I work in robotics as an electrical/electronics engineer in Australia, and my two favourite colleagues are both German. They are insane when it comes to precision and accuracy, they are an absolute joy to work with. Their endless need for perfection means we build world class systems that are sought for across the globe. Your comment is true on every level, you guys are awesome. Peace from Oz mate. [edit] forgot to mention, one of those German colleagues worked at Bosch when they developed the original CAN-Bus system. It's like working with royalty :)
S1000rr was NOT BMWs first sport bike K1200S - made in 2004(well before the S1000rr) and while sure you *could* put some bmw saddlebags on it, it definitely wasn't a "big bad open touring kinda bike." The k1200s and its spawn the k1300s(2008) were for sure sport bikes with inline 4 engines and around 170ish hp, similar power to an R1 or ZX-10 in those years. The K1200S actually set a speed record in 2005, so plenty of crazy sport bikedness. The s1000rr was just the first liter bike from bmw as the k1200s was a bit more than a liter
Only the racers might want this beauty who could only tride on track For a daily basis a 300 to 400 cc over square engine with parallel twin engine is superb. And we get meilage too also we save some part of environment compared to bmw 1000 cc carbon emissions

Precision shouldn't take away from that feeling. Electronics do, but every modern sports bike has those. And no, feelings not hurt. Those feelings are between me and my bike!
How’s bmw bikes on a day to day ride cause I keep hearing that they are an “OK” bike
Christopher Woo imo they are great bikes not ok bikes. They may not be the fastest or most raw bike out but they are the most refined
Love my red one . 🤟🏻
Ryan Oliver ah ok good then why the fuck is bmw getting shit about there bikes since they are great from street to racing
@@kingjohas - I like the red better than the more expensive M. I chose the red over the M sport. All my gear is red and black and it just looks better with the blacked out swing arm, levers, etc.
I don’t want one ... I have one ... and I love it ... it’s everything I hoped for and more
Not sure what it is, I have near zero emotional connection to my S1000RR. If it got stolen, I’d shrug, call insurance, and get a new bike. It’s technically amazing, but it doesn’t call me to the garage. My Ducati SuperSport did though, and only had like 115hp.
Emergency Moto would you buy another bike if you had the chance and money
I5YPL4YZZ you mean would I buy it again or buy something else? In any case yeah I’d buy it again it’s been perfect it fits my needs to a T. I commute with it so the cruise control and heated grips are an amazing feature as well as the sync ability to my phone and Sena. It’s road mode is very comfortable for just cruising but still has all the power to have fun but if I want to hit the twisties I can throw it into dynamic for a little more stiffer suspension or if I just want to go all out race mode or one my customized race pro modes. It literally has everything you could ever want and more. If you mean would I buy another bike I do own a 2017 Yamaha R6 as well but if I was going to buy another sports bike and had the money I’d prolly also get an h2 just to experience the super charger but I don’t need it the 2020 s1000rr is already way more than I need and an absolute dream
@QueensVillage Press I don't hate it, but I'd be unhappy if it were my only motorcycle.
It might get replaced by a V4 or RSV4 next year.
Im getting one...soon as ive cleared my debt 😂
BMW may not have won a superbike championship but they're killing it on the euro road races (isle of man, northwest 200, ulster GP) and the Macau GP.
Here’s an open invitation to ride mine 🙃
I love your vids on your bike bro
shadrock99 pretty sure he meant it in a sarcastic way lol
Yeah man teach this idiot a lesson
S1000rr is the mfg goat
shadrock99 Bet you don’t even have a bike “real biker” bro😂
@shadrock99 I'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic. He has done too much work on his s1k to actually give it to others.

The S1000RR may not have won in WSBK, but they cleaned up in the TT which is the ultimate test of a fast road bike..
Peter Hickman has fastest lap on tt with s1000rr
Big Facts👏🏾
After owning my 2016, they don’t lack character, they are precise machines, but it’s just like every bike, you make it yours, you the rider brings it alive and gives it a heart. If you’re thinking about one, do it, you won’t regret it
yam i love the videos but sometimes it pisses me off when you're talking about a bike and at the same time i'm looking at footage of a completely different bike riding along. i wanna see the bike you're discussing.
I agree. Papa Yam is just recycling the same stock videos over and over again to a point where i don't even look at the screen anymore but just listen.
Cuz' he can't afford the bike he's talking about 💀
You should probs head to a channel that actually pulls a camera out and films their own footage I guess... like 44teeth, Fort Nine, you know proper YT doing the hard work rather than a couch potato editor - I mean even the transitions are shite....
All he does is talk shit
Your mom
Thanks for all the footage of you riding a bmw s1000rr, you probably hopped your leg over it once in your life in a group meet up and sat on the seat for 5 seconds. And just for the record it craps all over the r1 in every way. If you want a litre sports bike s1000rr or the zx10r are the best choices followed by a cbr1000rr
True that
I like the 'craps over the r1' touch 😂
@@aryan3272 that legit is his experience with the bike lmao. He rode the '11 and '15 year models for a few minutes each. He claims that the daytona is such an amazing bike and how much "character" it has but I legit went from the triumph to a '15 S1000rr and didnt miss any "character" it is a better bike in absolutely every way.

Explain how it "craps all over" the R1 in every way. I've ridden both and they're both great, completely subjective opinions. Don't be a butthurt fanboy.
There is no such thing as a raw motorcycle nowadays. Every new bike has electronics.. that’s the future man.
I'm pretty sure the GSXR 750 has no electronics, ie. TC, ABS or any other safety features.
Erik van loon yes very true! Like Ducati’s 😂😂
It just ridiculous moan about electronics. Normally people who do don't know much about riding or wanna be manly man who wnat to see strong rider.

Thanks for your input.. I did not know this fact. 👍
I got bored watching this ..
🥱For a second I thought this was a Harley channel with all the talk about soul and character which loosely translates into “we can’t build a better bike than our competition so let’s just say our bikes inefficiencies, lack of refinement and technology are good things (character) and a motorcycle built by a brand that spends a ton of time and money developing great motorcycles that are refined, efficient and full of cutting edge tech soulless”
Look I get it.
@G B haha dude I rode that bike a few days back it's good I'm yet to ride the new s1000rr
But 2017 one is pure perfection
The new S1000RR reminds me so much of the Kyogre Pokémon with the way the lights and nose are shaped and the blue, red, and white color scheme. I like it better that the Quasi Modo lights of before.
I don't agree I guess. My 2017 feels like it has a lot of soul to me. I don't feel like its just an amazing ride. My brother and his friend agrees as well.
Same. Love mine.
Same! Love my 2017! Flawless, Smooth and easy to ride! Except on the track, then it's a precision tool.

That was a lot of whine packed in 12 minutes, I think I'll give it (the video) a solid 9 on the butt hurt o meter. More aching ass that riding hard tail coast to cost. I almost didn't make it to the end.
I agree. my ex wife sounds better at full throttle.
It sounded like you were describing why you love Harleys there for a minute
Best bike on the market, period
BMW has never won a title? Hmm lemme see, Peter Hickman has won multiple IOM TTs on his S1000RR, also setting world records for lap times, at 135mph this very year.
I'm here in my early 20's blessed with my s1000rr killing all of Yammie's pathetic stereotypes. Putting on more miles than Ken
I have an 18 s1000rr, an 08 daytona and a couple of other older triumphs, the bmw is not characterless, but it sure is clinical. What a bike it is. I encourage that purchase.
Nice! This was my first bike, bought it last year and now I have 1200 miles on it. Only rain mode.
PFFFFFFFFTTTT didn't go turbofreakinbusa first bike? For shame.
Nice!
Nice man, i too thinking about buying s1000rr as my first bike and ride it in rain mode till i really learn it.
Well, this is pretty funny, after researching all of the liter bikes and a couple of larger than a liter bikes, I kept coming back to the S1000RR as the best in class. I pulled the trigger and purchased a 2020 model, is does not have the M package, it is a lovely silver-grey color, and it hauls ass in every gear and it's scary fast. I find it a very stable-riding bike. I do have some nits to pick with it and we'll see what the list is like after its first service. It is my first BMW and yes, I did buy a BMW hat to go with it. For the record, my other vehicle is a 2020 Subaru Outback with the turbo.
Why not the damn M packet! Its the best

It's a beautiful bike. I can really appreciate the road to perfection as a fellow engineer and respect the fuck out of the guys who made this bike possible.
KTM exotic loll Never thought those 2 words would end up in the same sentence
Yeah, I've got one. You can turn off all the electronics, and if you do, you find out there is a beautiful chassis underneath that bike.
Yea, that's why I bought one. 2022 S1000RR. I have owned several Honda S1000RR's, except the newest one. I bought them all because they are predictable. The Italians made some lovely metal, however having a bike with endearing problems. I really like a little boring reliability with the machines I'm entrusting my life to at great speed. 10/10 would buy another BMW s1000rr
I ride with a guy that owns a 2015 S100RR. He must be a unicorn because he doesn't fall into either category mentioned in the video.
The S1000RR M doesn’t way a whole lot more than the 390…. but has WAY WAY more power….. which is easily put down….. even on the street.
@@Image-X it’s easily put down. It’s the easiest 1000cc bike to ride for sure.
But it’s still more enjoyable to ride a slow bike fast than the fast bike slow.

yammie noob: talking about bmw s1000rr showing daytona in the clip
I used to own a 675 Daytona Triple sport. I liked it. Now, I have an 1 year old S1000RR Msport with 200 miles turning up on Friday.

I fell in love with this bike immediately when world's favorite squid Tom Cruise rode it in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. This is the one and only bike I would own.
I owned a street triple rs 2019 and traded it for a s1000r 2018( naked version of the s1000rr). Best decision I ever made. De bmw made me smile again by its insane power. The street triple is the most boring bike ever. I had my lessons on a mt7 and even that bike was more fun. Just saying that everbody has there own opinion
Mt7 is damn fun ngl
Im still trying to wrap my head around my grandfathers BMW track bike. Dude is 90, and was never a sport or track rider. That thing is probably at least 10 years old, and it has that old lucky strike stamp on it...and somehow, its well used, and maintained. Thats the only thing he comes to town for....
My new M package was delivered last week. I am delighted with it so far. I am never going to track it or mod it because its just perfect as it is. I am the kind of guy that buys nice bikes like they do nice watches. I know have 5 nice bikes.
I went and bought a 2022 S1000RR M package after watching this video.
Dude!! Thanks for that history and intro to the 2022 model. Awesome, it only confirms my good decision to get one!! Yay!!!! Thanks again ride safe.
Did you know that all S1000RR s pull to the right when you release your hands from the handlebars?
BMW responded to my complaint with " this is not a normal riding situation and it's not noticable when you grip the grip the handlebars"
Yes this is true, but I prefer my bikes to remain on the road as opposed to the cow paddock on the right.
You mistaking with gs1200 and all of the BMW's boxer engines. I had the 2014 s1000rr, as well as the 2019 model and none of them, pull you right and they don't even have handlebars but clip-on. Why you spreading lies and ignorance make sure you read the article well and understand it before you post this non-sense.
I think their boxer engines do that but it isn’t like it’s going to throw you off the road. Ride on one like the r9t and you will love it.
I literally spent 5 years making the decision to purchase a sports bike. This video was the last thing I watched. The complete absurdity of Yammy Noob’s content on this bike IS what helped me to finally decide on my 2022 S1000RR. That being said, it has over achieved in my mind, blowing it in the process 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Never have I had a vehicle give me such complete joy and happiness. I really cannot say enough great things about it. Highly highly recommend!

Love the vid great perspective by examining the soul of a machine. Thank you!
Riding a 2020 s1000rr M I must say the bike has a soul. A cold calculated soul. Add a bren tune and full exhaust and she's an insane animal.
Goes on and on about how much he loves personality in his bikes and proceeds to give the most cliche reason for not liking the RR.
You say BMW are soulless? I switched from Yamaha Xj6n to S1000R 2017... if it doesn't have a soul then it surely stole mine :D
When I rode the S1000rr it was fucking insane!
This is a brutally superb machine!
A bike for Street use needs character and "soul" as you say but on track if a bike is fast, that's all the character you want it to have!
I was also confused about that as-well wouldn’t a pro rider just need it to be as efficient as possible?.
Nice history lesson, maybe you should drive the bike before dissing it. Or spend the 25 grand to ease your mind.
Ok fanboy🤣🤣
@@boballendaayan6380 what fanboy ?he said it himself it's the most perfect bike that's why it's the most loved liter class bike

Lekker man Nederland voor de win
That flat spot is no joke. My R6 pulls on the new S1000RR until the powerband kicks in then the beama quickly catches and passes
Doing a valve adjustment on an s1000rr is very interesting. Don't forget to rotate 5 times loosen bolts then rotate 1 then loosen bolts hahaha
S1000rr was NOT BMWs first sport bike
K1200S - made in 2004(well before the S1000rr) and while sure you *could* put some bmw saddlebags on it, it definitely wasn't a "big bad open touring kinda bike." The k1200s and its spawn the k1300s(2008) were for sure sport bikes with inline 4 engines and around 170ish hp, similar power to an R1 or ZX-10 in those years. The K1200S actually set a speed record in 2005, so plenty of crazy sport bikedness. The s1000rr was just the first liter bike from bmw as the k1200s was a bit more than a liter
Thanks for the informative Yammie vid
Only the racers might want this beauty who could only tride on track
For a daily basis a 300 to 400 cc over square engine with parallel twin engine is superb.
And we get meilage too also we save some part of environment compared to bmw 1000 cc carbon emissions
What a throwback here I am from the future, and the giveaway is an M package, I call it character development
I never thought I would live to see the day where a European bike is considered less personality than a Japanese bike.
Not a fan of the new design, but the asymmetrical design of the 1st and 2nd gens made it one of my favorite looking bikes, never had the pleasure of riding one tho... ;(
Haha @ your opening line... " so much precision the engineers at over at bmw polished all the character right out of it" LMAO

I was a bit bored with my 2011 RR, and then a few weeks ago decided to do a sprocket swap to -1 in the front and +3 in the rear...HOLY CRAP.
Don’t care, atleast we got a variety of choices and a bike that suits your attitude😉
For myself i don't care what you ride just enjoy the ride 🏍👌
If you don’t like refined bikes that are so good their boring then get an 1980s era Harley. They will keep you very amused as you hope it might start, hasn’t leaked all the oil out overnight or that the lights will work for more than 3 hours from shaking apart. I’ll personally take a bike with quality and is boringly great over a bike with lots of “personality”.
I had s1000rr 2019 model and it was so boring to ride I sold it shortly and bought 2018 r1 it's not as fast but damn it's much more fun to ride with nice character and sound. S1000rr have pretty much your typical sport-touring engine feel to it which is not the reason why I buy superbike in the first place. But I understand it may be appealing to some people who buy bikes like cbr1000rr but not for me. I rather get paginale v4 which have all of the BMW refinement and even more but actually being a hell of the fun to ride.
"BMW riders all fall into the stereotype of presumed snobbery" - bandwagon entered sir. What should I say now sir?
instead of buying bmw 1000 you buy yamaha r1 and have extra money left to treat yourself a good meal at a fine dining restaurant for making the right decision 👍
R1200S was a sportbike built on a sport touring platform
I lost him at the Asymmetric headline Comment. For me its one of the most attractive things on a bike. I was so sad when they changed the iconic look.
