Man, I just love the excitement you display. A true enthusiast. I was excited for you watching this ish. I have a 2018 and it’s my first bike. I kinda want the 2020 as i think I’ll have more beginners fun on it. I don’t trust myself to ever learn it’s full potential!
I unfortunately haven't ridden the old one, which was originally my dream bike. When I first saw the new one, I was against the changes. Then, I saw it in person... then, I saw how insanely fast it is after being flashed (destroys practically everything). Riding it finally 100% confirmed I want the new one over the old one. Excited to see what 2021 brings... might cave and trade in the ZX6R!
Take a ninja 400 to the track and learn to brake and hit turns like a boss and then take the bmw after you've got some more experience. S1000 is a monster
@germaninvasion, are you still alive ? Want to take the same route .. thinking of limiting it for a while to learn the bike and open the taps when I feel ready. I have 10y of driving with cars over 1000hp mark so I can be pretty sensible when and when not to be stupid.

I had a 2013 Zx6r that is now gone and my friend has a 2016 s1000rr and told me to buy this bike....I’m sold
It's amazing. Haven't even made it 2 block over yet going like 25mph
I love to have some weather like that to ride mine right now. Got a new S1000RR M package last Friday and so far have have only managed to do one 32km ride and even that was really sketchy over the slippery road surfaces but its been even worse since then.

Mine must be different, I don’t get hardly any heat, and only a little vibration through the bars, I do have the euro version M package, but surely it shouldn’t be much different
Interesting, maybe the tune and/or the exhaust setup on this one really amplified the heat that was being thrown off? It was undoubtedly hotter than my ZX-6R. I know its got a much bigger engine, but it was very significant in my experience

freeway drones are not a good way to break in an engine, you want shorter trips with full cool down, lower speeds and short bursts of hard throttle

I was going to start on the 636 but I know I would upgrade to the S1000rr. My dream bike too! Thinking about getting one as my first bike ;)
I think it would be a great first bike to a responsible rider. It’s got all the safety features a new rider could use and fall back on, just don’t twist the throttle too hard!

this bike seems so amazing but absolutley a waste here in New Zealand with our 100kph or 60mph limits

Not a beginner bike by any means, just be diligent on the throttle and definitely keep it in low power/rain mode for a while if you are dead set on this bike. It’s too easy to go fast. You need to be careful entering corners especially, because you won’t realize you’re going like 80. Easy to ride, but way too easy to get carried away on the S1000RR.
Ducati panigale v4s is more Fun.
A Kawasaki H2 would give you different thoughts what real power is
