A fanatic has painstakingly created a fully working replica of the Ghostbusters’ car. Loren Baldwin spent two years searching for parts and six months piecing together his very own Ecto-1. He recently visited New York City - taking the car back to its beloved headquarters at Hook and Ladder 8. It cost Loren $20,000 to convert the 1959 Miller-Meteor chassis into the famous movie car - but without the help of fabrication businesses he estimates he would have spent more than $100,000. As a huge Ghostbusters geek, how did I never see this until now?? That's one of the most awesome things I think I've ever seen, and the effort involved showed true dedication. Absolutely incredible.

Dan Aykroyd who lives in Ottawa and Ernie Hudson actually got to see this replica at the Ottawa Pop-Expo in Nov 2013.
They drove around in the thing a bit.
This makes it much more LEGIT imo if 2 out of the original cast of Ghost busters drove in it.

Loren did what Ray did and added the 5 panel mirrors, smart move. During the bust montage in Ghostbusters II, you can see that Ray had put one in, although it appears that the regular adjustable RV Mirror had been removed from the vehicle. While it isn't accurate to original Ecto-1, it is accurate to the revamped one in the second movie.
Ecto 1 just makes you smile.

You know, when you do a car as a labor of love, all the money in the world doesn't matter cause when you drive it, and you get a thumbs up, when you go to car shows, and people pose by it, and tell you stories, it really means something to you, I've probably got 25,000 into my Grand Prix, that's probably worth 15,000 but it's my car, and I didn't do it for resale, I did it for nostalgia and fun

Very correct, and made from the right Miller Meteor. I've seen a nice one at a show - but it was built from a Superior, so it didn't look quite correct. Excellent (and big) job.
