If Dan hadn't been a world class actor, I could picture him wrenching on classics for the love of it. He has a collection of old ex police and service vehicles stored in an old police precinct building from the 50s. The Ecto would fit perfectly in there.
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? He that has ears to hear, let him hear. Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. My favorite moment driving a big rig was when I saw the BTTF Delorean pass me on I5 in California followed by the Ecto-1. I tapped the air and signaled to light it up. He lit it up and gave the sirens too. I hold that as dear to my heart as getting to see ghostbusters 2 in a drive in. The very last show before they closed.
Reading this as a guy brought up in the 80’s and putting myself in this situation put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye! I’d have been beside myself with excitement, like a 38 year old kid! Haha
a guy down the street from me had an ecto-1 replica just parked on the streetside like a normal car. verry cool to be able to look at it up close like that
I think the car was always in rough shape like even in the movie(that was the point it was supposed to be all they could afford) and unless you parked it in a climate and humidity controlled storage(very very expensive) it was going to deteriorate.
They mean nothing to the studios that own them....until they need them again. The time machine Delorians were in just as bad shape until they were restored, some by collectors, some by the studio. One sat rotting in Universal Studios for years with zero maintenance. Now reproductions are in the parks. The backlot at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida had the full size Snowspeeder from Empire Strikes Back sitting out there until it fell apart completely. I worked there in 1989 and got photos with it before it died.
The funny thing, something eerily similar to that happened to me as a kid. Not with Dan Ackroyd at the wheel, but close enough. It was 1998 and I visited the Universal Studios Florida with my father, I was 5 years old. It was already pretty late with it getting darker and we wandered far off the populated areas in search of a toilet. So when we finally found one and my father went in, I was waiting outside in the eerily empty road. When all of a sudden Ecto-1 came charging around the corner all sirens blaring and rushed past me. 5 years old me was completely stunned and of course my father didn't believe me when he came back. Oddly enough, it is about the only thing I can still remember about that trip...
When I was a kid there was a guy that had one of the original Batman movie cars from the Tim Burton movie. He dressed up as Batman and would drive around sporadically. I thought it was the real batman, everything was movie original including his costume. Every time I saw it I lost my shit.
This crew did an Amazing job restoring an iconic part of movie history. You could tell it was personal, not just another vehicle to them. Then Dan Aykroyd showing up and driving it, that was just perfect!!
I think that the ambulance base is a key part that Feig and Dippold missed out on. I've never seen a hearse using sirens of its own. They should've something like... An 80's van that some small ambulance company turned into a basic life support unit.

Emmett Brown helps to Ghostbusters return to their timeline because something from their timeline is an extradimensional Beast that wants to break the boundaries of Life Death and reality and what makes matters worse is that this Beast was summoned by Alexander tannen who managed to time Jump between universes
Ecto 1 just oozes happiness and friendliness because of all these smooth shapes that vintage cars had. And the tail-fins are also adding to its retro-futuristic appeal. It really looks like a representative ride with style while being a purpose-car and not just any other standard vehicle. Just perfect for the Ghostbusters.

I think that smile is for even more than the Ecto-1. Dan's been fighting for years to put a proper Ghost Busters sequel out. Only after the complete failure of 2016 is he finally able to do it.

This really put a smile on my face as a 40 year old fan of the franchise :)) thank you all who were involved in making this video o/ stay safe and keep up the good work.
As a man seeing this car it brings tears of happiness to my eyes. This car just screams American pop culture. An should always be preserved. It was sad to know the original orca from jaws rotted away to the point they just built a replica. Mr Spielberg used to sit in it all the time he visited universal. Keep icons alive
Damn man, the pictures of ecto-1 before they refurbish it just hit me in my heart. Such a sad sight, knowing that car pretty much sat dormant for decades. Ecto-1 and the delorean from back to the Future are two of the most iconic cars from movies to me.
I remember what Dan Aykroyd said when I first saw Ghostbusters he was like everybody can relax I found the car any suspensions and shocks and I remember what Bill Murray said how much does this cost Dan was like about 4,800 and I remember the reaction that Bill had on his face
Me and my boys have a picture taken with Ecto 1. They were to small to know what was going on but I was in tears being near it. Truly an amazing car and piece of history .
That car and that cast was a big part of my childhood. It showed me what was possible and could be possible for my future. I went into computer repair in 1992. I was only 13 at that time and I learned a lot. That car I study every part of it when I was younger and forgot everything mostly about it when I was older. But the impression of that car still up to this day I think about it. Now I see it being restored 3 years old feel like today it was being restored. Great Job restoring the car.
I remember when I worked at Sony and one of the Ecto-1s was rotting on the lot next to a bunch of other cars. At one point, they had to move it by pushing it. Even if it wasn't in a movie, a '59 Cadillac, especially a professional car conversion, would be really valuable.
@@MephProduction the ecto 1a was put on display for universal and then when it was damaged by staff/park visitors it was put into a Sony backlot, the story he tells seems to match up
@@MephProduction ecto 1a never got referbished, it was planned to be but was used for parts for the original ecto and then was left to rot again, it was then repurposed to be a copy of the original ecto for use in afterlife
It was my favorite movie. I think I was 8 years old when it came out. Thank you very much for restoring Ecto 1. Almost made me cry when I saw the first photos of it almost falling apart.
When he said "There hasn't been a ghost sighting for over 30 years" , they definitely want us to forget about 2016 failed attempt at a remake/retelling.
I don't think that was a jab, just that was a different version and this is the original so in this world they were the only Ghostbusters and vice versa.
@Ray Caster Yeah I could see that. I have my problems with the 2016 version for sure but it wasn't all bad. Hemsworth was hilarious but they really only caught like what 2 or 3 ghosts.
@Playford Seven That is certainly the general consensus, I agree for the most part but it does have some moments. For me it's only a little under Ghostbusters 2 which wasn't very good either.
Ranman My buddy is a diehard GB fan. Both he and I know that GB 2 was a by the books 80’s sequel that took a lot of beats from the original, including a giant entity going for a stroll through town leading up to the final encounter It still had better visuals, more heart and balanced comedy than anything he saw in 2016’s attempt
Playford Seven My buddy didn’t feel there was much of any “feminist agenda” in the 2016 movie. He just thought it was a crap movie because it was badly written, poorly directed and the effects looked like Las Vegas marquee signs came to life and wanted to be bright neon ghosts
I mean, if you were a mechanic and grew up with those movies, how absolutely cool would this be? Not only to work on the ACTUAL car, but for Dan Aykroyd to come and admire your work? Wow....dying to see the mew movie
I'm not a huge fan of ghostbusters by any means but I remember hearing from a friend in the US who actually worked at the place it was stored at for all those years what a sorry state she was in and I know how big those films were and I didn't believe him... Right up until he emailed me about 5 pictures of 1 and 1A and when I saw what had become of them both honestly cried my heart out, they are such a beautiful pare of historic cars and to see them like that as a petrolhead it really cut me deep and when I first saw how e1 war restored i cried again because she, both of them really, deserve to be preserved for future generations. Because I truly believe that of all the cars in Hollywood, Those two are simply the most beautiful out there. And watching this will always bring a smile to my face
I've been devouring my Haynes Ecto-mobile manual after watching Afterlife to do that version of the car and this video shows things I hadn't noticed before. The window tint for instance, I did not know the side windows had tint. The Afterlife version has the driver's side window tint ripped open wider except for a skinny strip top and bottom. So they really maintained the authentic providence of the car.
I'm really surprised that the ecto 1 was in such poor condition you would have thought it would have been kept in museum quality in some billionaires super rare movie car collection as most cars from the silver screen do great to see it been restored Ghostbusters will always have a place in my heart and I cant wait for the new movie release
There's multiple stories about what happened to the original Orca from Jaws. One has it chopped up by the studio after it was shipped back to Hollywood. Another was it was parked up in one of the theme park rides and forgotten about. By the time they realised that it was the original, it was too far gone to save.
Technicaly Ghostbusters 4(there was a second ghostbusters movie after the first one that was unknown but it was real) And it is Ghostubsters Afterlife, I am so excited since my dad and I watched the orignal so this seems promising
I know they won't see it, but to Sam and his crew, thanks for restoring history with love and attention. It's appreciated. That car and movie are engrained in some our psyche because we watched it growing up.
Just finding this video, as I was looking to add a 1/6 Ecto-1 to my collection. I was 18 and just joined the Military when the original movie came out. I was in the audio/visual field and after training ended daily, i would work at the base theater as the film projectionist (technical term for the guy who loaded each reel as the movie progressed, GB had 6-8 as i remember) and Ghost Busters (in 1984) was the first film i worked. I would sit in the projection room hour after hour and night after night and it never got old watching the movie. It stayed in the base theater for many weeks. Glad to see the car got restored and glad to see a glimpse of Harold. Thanks for sharing!
After watching this video I was a changed man, before I just thought “the ghostbuster’s car, it’s cool I guess” but now I can really appreciate it, I would probably pass out if I ever saw it irl and it is one of the reasons I believe the 80’s were the coolest time to be alive

Took my son to a video game/toy/comic show. Ecto-1 and the BTTF Delorean were there. He and I just stood there and stared at them, in awe. Hard to tell who was more excited, probably me as I have over 3 decades of love for them, but it was defiantly comparable. Sharing that moment with him, well I’ll never forget it. They are just movie props, yet they instill so many feelings in us.
Keeping the magic alive for the fans and history is a special kind of magic! Fans all over the world thank you. There has been cinema history lost to the sands of time and it’s disheartening. So glad to see this updated to show fans of a new generation

This really put a smile on my face as a 40 year old fan of the franchise :)) thank you all who were involved in making this video o/ stay safe and keep up the good work.
This is the coolest episode of Pimp my Ride that I have ever seen.
i kinda Hate pimp my Ride now since the guy that was sooo saying hell fix your car amd they caught onto his act and he wasnt Really fixing them.
When I see a shop put that much love into a car, I know its going to be something special... It even got Aykroyd's blessing...
One of the most Iconic cars to ever hit the silver screen. I love it!
The Ecto-1 is one of my most favourite movie cars beside KITT, Herbie, Christine and the Back to the future delorean time machine
I always wanted to have an Ecto as my first car when I was a kid. And that siren sound is iconic. Oh thank you for saving this piece of history.
The Ecto-1 just makes me smile and forget problems.
I was born in 1984... God, I love the Ghostbusters.
I'm at a loss for words. Ecto 1 looks better than when I saw it in the movies. What an incredible and detailed job you guys did.
They made Ecto look better than when it was in the movie. Major props to them.
That's because Ivan Reitman didn't want it to look polished. He wanted it to look like they actually made it themselves.
So good to see the restoration of Ecto 1. Such a classic and iconic car
I always wanted that boat 😁
Damn man, the pictures of ecto-1 before they refurbish it just hit me in my heart. Such a sad sight, knowing that car pretty much sat dormant for decades. Ecto-1 and the delorean from back to the Future are two of the most iconic cars from movies to me.
"HEY, YOU CAN'T PARK THAT HERE!"
Can to.
Ecto 1 was as much a character in the movie as the main guys. Beautiful work restoring it.
Great memories of my childhood . One of my favorite movies ever ! The car looks probably better than when the movie was recorded!
One of ?! This is number 1 easily...for me it is
That car and that cast was a big part of my childhood.
That’s the ecto 1a, it was in ghostbusters 2
@@RealJoePool not sure about that, 1a was kept in better condition, it's the car they're using for Afterlife.
@@MephProduction the ecto 1a was put on display for universal and then when it was damaged by staff/park visitors it was put into a Sony backlot, the story he tells seems to match up
@@RealJoePool maybe, both cars got refurbished
Ranman
My buddy is a diehard GB fan. Both he and I know that GB 2 was a by the books 80’s sequel that took a lot of beats from the original, including a giant entity going for a stroll through town leading up to the final encounter
It still had better visuals, more heart and balanced comedy than anything he saw in 2016’s attempt
Playford Seven
My buddy didn’t feel there was much of any “feminist agenda” in the 2016 movie.
Because I truly believe that of all the cars in Hollywood,
Those two are simply the most beautiful out there.
And watching this will always bring a smile to my face
Seeing my childhood memories refurbished and made new again almost brings a tear to my eye!!!
Ecto-1, DeLorean and K.I.T.T., my personal iconic favorites. :) Ecto _needs_ to be preserved, now.
im really love Those Iconic car the Delorean and ecto 1/ Kitt /Herbie is my Favorite to watch :)
For me it’s
Ecto 1
Delorean
The Ferrari From Ferris Bueller
The 1966 Batmobile
The General Lee...
General Lee, Bandit Trans Am, Kitt, Ecto 1.
Interesting the 1966 Batmobile was a thing of beauty.
I know right??? How it got into the wrong hands is beyond me
The delorean from back to the future? It was way worse. You should look that up on here. Happened to most of the batmobiles too. People just dont care
@@pudgeboyardee32 really??? Damn!
There's multiple stories about what happened to the original Orca from Jaws. One has it chopped up by the studio after it was shipped back to Hollywood. Another was it was parked up in one of the theme park rides and forgotten about. By the time they realised that it was the original, it was too far gone to save.
So cool seeing it restored, and Dan driving it brings back good memories.
Can't wait for Ghostbusters 3 and to take my little boy to the cinema with me. Great job on the car.
The game is Ghostbusters 3, though.
Technicaly Ghostbusters 4(there was a second ghostbusters movie after the first one that was unknown but it was real) And it is Ghostubsters Afterlife, I am so excited since my dad and I watched the orignal so this seems promising
@@K_B_C Ghostbusters II is unknown??
@@GabePuratekuta yes
@@K_B_C I'm not sure where you got that idea from. It's the first I've heard of Ghostbusters II being unknown. What's your basis for this assumption?
I know they won't see it, but to Sam and his crew, thanks for restoring history with love and attention. It's appreciated. That car and movie are engrained in some our psyche because we watched it growing up.
R.I.P. Harold Ramis (Dr. Egon Spengler). I hope a tribute in the new Ghostbusters film (and I hope he has married with Janine after all).
They bring him back as a ghost...ssshhh don't tell anyone.
Janine had the hots for Louis not Spengler.
@@thug4life2005 Yes,but Louis is not fully canonic. The real lore includes the first movie and the TV series.
Spengler uniform, spores molds and fungus on the trailer :>
I don't know why this video popped up but I'm sure as hell glad it did. How sweet is that and Dan Aykroyd too. Priceless!!!!
The Ecto-1 is a gorgeous beauty! Timeless
Iconic, timeless and a fantastic restoration with a classic performer/creator visiting for the finished product. Thank you for a magnificent job by all involved.
👀🎥👍
Aside from it's iconic siren that v8 sounds so good!
Makes me want to cry seeing the car so neglected and banged up in the beginning of this video but they did a beautiful job restoring it
Almost in tears watching this restoration! Love echo-1.
I'm having a really stressfull day and made a little pause, watching this... i smiled from the first second to the last! Thank you for posting this, what an amazing restoration job this is!
This video is from ca 2011. Please date it n the description!
To the people that made it all happen, Thankyou for everything you do.
My Two Favorit Movie-Cars: Ecto1 & The Bluesmobile
Dan Aykroyd: Drive‘s Both
Do i have to say more?😂
I love that he pulled into the fire lane at the end. It was just fitting.
Keeping the magic alive for the fans and history is a special kind of magic! Fans all over the world thank you. There has been cinema history lost to the sands of time and it’s disheartening. So glad to see this updated to show fans of a new generation
I just saw this parked at a shop in Santa Monica this week. It's so freaking cool
The editing in the 1984 film was so flawless
Ghostbusters and Ecto 1 are American icons. Good to see Dan enjoying himself. Great job on the car!
Absolutely stunning work. I’m blown away by how amazing and new that old Cadillac looks. I was 11 when that movie originally came out and it’s definitely up there with my favourite movies of all time. I’d love to see Ecto in the UK if it ever comes here. Beautiful work.
absolutely stunning job, such a gorgeous and classic machine
I'm not going to lie; I'm in tears. I grew up with this movie and the others. I'm so happy to see you give it life again.
Ghost busters 2021 was everything I wanted it to be. Full of nods to the previous 2 movies and just dripping nostalgia
Now I feel old 😂 I remember my dad taking me to watch the first ghostbusters. I jumped at the librarian ghost 😁 I miss them days
This film brought a big grin on my face, thanks folks. Memories.
I love Ghostbusters 1984 & 1989 so much... and from what I have read many people connect amazing childhood memories with it just like me. I've just bought the game on steam and hopefully I will love it and same with the new movie.
I saw ecto 1 at the firehouse in NYC where they filmed the movie when I was a kid right after it came out. Such an awesome memory.
Guy's this does means a lot to us fans! Good job and thank you!
You guys did a phenomenal job restoring Ecto1. Ghostbusters was my favorite cartoon show and movie as a kid.
Mr Akroid, this world has forgotten how to laugh, we ate in need of a lighthearted rip roaring good time, AND WHO YA GONNA CALL? Make the movie Dan..
Aykroyd
Ich freu mich auch schon auf den Film mit der Original Crew und dem einzig wahren Ecto-1
Really enjoyed that! Thx!
It's amazing to find out how our ghostbustin' vehicle will be restored to go the callers' place of need.
Immagine being out for a walk and seeing Dan out on a leisurely cruise in ECTO-1!!!!!!
I'm proud to have been growing up in the 80s and 90s
The best time for movies and music and humanity in general
And it died down when the 2000s happened felt like some of the vibe was around for a short time
You could see it in his face and hear it in his voice as he gave her the beans and she started walkin' and talkin', Dan was a happy man.
"Aw, yeah, they got it runnin' *good* ."
Your soul is 80´s and you don´t forget ....ever ....you are the big movies Slimer!!
Dan aykroyd strikes me as a very intelligent person, not only a great actor in comedy but the bloke is also a tech wizard
The Ecto-1 is a thing of beauty. They really did a great job. I would love to see them turn it into the Ecto-1A from Ghostbusters II.
Totally Awesome. Wow bringing back so many memories to us all. Thank you ❤❤❤
ghostbusters was a legend, r.i.p Harold Ramis
Thank you for bringing back part of my childhood, iconic symbols of cinema.
I have always wanted to know and wondered where did the siren for Ecto-1 come from? It's so iconic.
Fantastic restore, takes me back and heart warming to watch. Dan coming along and driving it too was fab!! Icing on the cake 🤗
God I miss the old Ghostbusters movies. That was the bomb.
