      This is why I believed it would be Euron all along. Because in Cersei's dream, she has no tongue. She can't cry out because she's been "silenced"...The Silence, cutting out the tongues of his crew, Mr. Euron Greyjoy, psychopath and one of the Drowned.

    Did you notice cercei face when she saw Dany for the first time in the dragon pit, cercei was pissed when see saw how beautiful Daenerys was. She could barely control her anger

      Nexis 1 Dan and Dave spoke about the making of the dragon pit scene, they said the same thing. Cercei was angry after seeing how beautiful Dany was, this adds to the evidence that she is in fact the one to take everything cercei holds dear

      I have always had a suspicion that the reason the whole "little brother" thing was missed out on the shows could be because the showrunners want to change her ending....or at least wanted to keep the door open to doing so at the time.
      If I were GRRM I would want the show to finish differently to the books.......imagine how much impact that would have on booksales.......that the book series ends in a different way.....a "real" way kind of.....it would put book sales through the roof whereas having the show as basically a "spoiler" may well reduce them.....this said the show has already had a massive positive impact on book sales so maybe they will both end the same.
      But if they were to differ I would say it would be in major character deaths as opposed to entire plotlines.......
      Anyway just a thought....why else would they leave that part of the prophecy out of the show when it is so important?

    I also thought euron.
    1) drowned
    2) wrap his hands-every time I heard this I pictured the kraken with its long tendrils wrapping around Cersei’s throat.
    2) valanquar-there’s even a point on the bridge where euron makes it a point to say “haven’t I always, big brother”. I think they were pointing us in the direction.
    3) when I was younger I wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world- there are too many references to dany being the most beautiful. It can’t be Cersei.
    4) it was always eurons idea to go to dany first. I think he still plans to go to her but he will bring her a gift-the fastest way to a woman’s heart is with a priceless gift-and that gift will be Cersei’s head.
    Ps. I love how they made Cersei’s gowns in s.7 with high, structured, necklines and hardware. Paranoid much?

      I think it's also notable that every scheme Cersei has come up with, pretty much as far back as the moment she heard the prophecy, has backfired horribly because Cersei has misinterpreted everything she comes in contact with. Now that she has lost almost everything she thinks is dear to her and has been driven to play at suitor against her nature to keep what she has left, it would be symmetrical for her schemes with (and against) Euron to backfire badly enough to take everything else she holds dear and lead to the prophecy's true fulfillment.
      So, I think Euron is a good call for the valonqar.

      This is what I believe will happen Jamie after saving bran dies in briennes arms sansa knowing Arya is a faceless man tells Arya she can use Jamie's face to get close to Cersi. In my opinion arts is more beautiful than cersi. But the prophecy would be 100% true Arya being more beautiful being a little sister while wearing Jamie's face cersi's little brother. That's also why valingar is used instead of little brother or sister because a more beautiful little sister will be wearing a little brothers face. Also giving Jamie 2 hands again since it will be Arya yo cover the hand she will just wear a glove that's why we got the final shot in season 7 of Jamie slipping on a glove over his golden hand

    I know it doesn't really change anything, but I still don't believe Maggy actually told Cercei's future. I think she cursed Cercei through blood magic. She "sampled" (tasted) her blood to potentially curse her, Cercei sealed her fate when she threw the potion in the old woman's face.

      Arikm7 She'll most certainly be back, but I don't think she'll have any part in killing Cercei. She's there to help defeat the 'great other', she on the front lines of what she considers the ultimate holy war and Cercei is of little consequence in that. The only reason she assisted in killing Renly is because at that time she believed that Stanis was the savior and Renly posed an immediate and credible threat to her savior's life. As far as magic goes in ASOIAF it doesn't seem to be light/good or dark/evil . Magic is just magic, ultimately what makes magic good or bad seems to be the intent of the wielder and the ultimate results.

    • @pietrayday9915
      @pietrayday9915 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It certainly looks more like a curse than a prophecy to me! Note that the one character of the three to flee before the witch said "begone" a third time ended up with a happy ending - the two who insisted on staying ended up having everything go catastrophically wrong, with the least persistent of the two only dying, and the most rudely persistent of the two getting the worst of the "prophecy".

  • @jfraserfisher
    @jfraserfisher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +99

    What if Dany takes Cersei prisoner and sentences her to death, but Jamie can't stand the thought of her been publicly executed, but he can't set her free either, so he visits her in the cells and strangles her to avoid her final public humiliation and he then commits suicide to die together, as Dany and Jon can't just let him get away with it. They also said they came into the world together and want to leave it together. Bittersweet? Cersei dying = great but Jamie = sad.

    the valanqar choking cersei with hands around the neck...could be Tyrion, he literally choked shae using a necklace composed of golden hand-shaped segments. and he is the hand to Daenerys. if we see cersei wearing that chain in season 8, shes likely to be strangled with it.

    I think the valonqar is the hound... Since the Mountain is her bodyguard, and the Hound is the Mountain's little brother. Clegeane bowl goes down... Hound wins. Kills Cersi.

    • @nathanczochara1576
      @nathanczochara1576 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just thinking about why would the Hound kill Cersei. Just being an evil twat isn't enough. I'm thinking the death of Sansa or Arya through Cersei (a la the Golden Company) and her betrayal will set Sandor over the edge much like how the bandits killed the religious troupe. So still think the Hound will kill Cersei but will be at the cost one of Stark daughters.

    • @PaulStargasm
      @PaulStargasm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't the valonqar a younger sibling though? Which is why on a similar theme I've thought it would be the mountain who kills her, controlled by the night king.

    i think it will be brienne to cast down cersie. jaime and her have a connection, and has even defied cersie now after brienne pointed out what the right thing to do was. brienne has often been jokingly called beauty as a joke, but Jaime seems to have genuine interest in her. I would love for brienne to be the one to take what's left that she holds dear.. Jaime. and cast her down. shes big enough to kill her even. and it would be a beautiful ending for her to be a queenslayer, and Jaime a kingslayer.

    • @franziskafinefein
      @franziskafinefein 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if I remember correctly Brienne is an only child, therefore not likely to kill Cercei. also, strangling people isn't Brienne*s style - no honour in it. But I like the rest of your reasoning and would love to see Brienne rule Westeros in the end.

    In my humble opinion you are only half right. If Euron kills Cersei after the Night King is destroyed (which is very possible) he becomes the last villain the heroes have to destroy. Also Cersei has yet to wrong him in any way. It won’t feel like any form of justice if another villain kills her. This story is way beyond making us feel sorry for Cersei, which is how we’d feel if Cersei was killed by Euron. Lastly, the tragedy of Cersei’s character is that she’s responsible for her own downfall. However, this takes the responsibility from her over to Euron. In my opinion it will be a lot impactful if a character who she hurt in a direct way is the one to kill her.

    Nailed it. As if the books were indicator enough, the portrayal of Euron in season 7 sealed it for me. I thought earlier that Jamie dies trying to save her, since they have foreshadowed dying together, but less sure now. Great job formulating a solid argument around what I see as the outcome.
    ...mark My words here! Yara has no tongue - she never spoke once she was captured. She and Theon will both be broken things that perservere.

    Simply because Jaime doesn't have two hands doesn't mean he should be ruled out. He has a prostetic hand that he could manipulate to still choke the life out of someone. Obviously he has become disgusted with what Cersei has become in both the books and the show. Cersei is beginning to show signs similar to that of the Mad King, who Jaime killed. I think it's still entirely possible that Jaime will be the one to kill Cersei.

    I've been saying Euron is the valonqar ever since I read the Forsaken sample chapter. I think he will kill Cersei for the power in her queen's blood, in his quest to accumulate enough power to cross a threshold and become a god. He is this age's Night's King, I believe.

      Joe Blow As someone else brilliantly pointed out, Euron raised both his hands in that scene of him in front of the Iron Throne...taking about having 2 good hands. It was eerily similar to how the NK raised his arms and raised the dead at Hardhome. Very unusual.

    Alot of people tend to ignore some very basic facts of linguistics when they speculate about "Valonquar"
    When it comes to a given language, not all terms have to be gender neutral just because a language feature that type of morphology or whatever. Just because whatever titular noun was mistranslated as prince is an ungendered version of it doesnt mean there arent gendered versions of it, or that it applies to all family nouns in high valyrian.
    We have words like Silbling (gender neutral noun) then brother/sister (gendered) etc in English. Then there's morphologically gendered words like Heir/Heiress, Hero/Heroine etc. We use the old masculine terms as gender neutral most of the time.
    Also, grammatical gender is not the same as gender in the social/biological sense. In Swedish we have the grammatical genders of Common and Neuter, german has Masculine and Femenine alongside Neuter. Hero and Heroine in Swedish both have the same gender gramatically, but they are morphologically different because they refer to different biological sexes.
    That said im pretty sure Missandei was referring to biological sex and not grammatical gender.

Varys would of course not choke her with his actual hands but rather give her the choker - so she would still choke by his hands . and remember "Poison is a [womans and] eunuchs weapon.His little birds could administer the deed, and he has reasons enough ... revenge on behalf of the whole realm.

    I've thought all along that Euron would kill Cercei! As you pointed out, Maggie said *the* valonqar, not *your* valonqar. Besides your excellent evidence, it makes sense that after they are married, he will have the perfect opportunity: "private time" with her (The Mountain gets time off). What creeps me out is that in the scene where he brags about his "two good hands," he mimics the gesture of the NK when he raised Hardhome victims. BTW, GRRM may have written the word valonqar in High Valyrian to confuse us with gender-neutral possibilities.

    I 100% agree with you Grey. I've always thought it's Euron, due to the dropped hints within the actual prophesy and in her dream (book) she has no tongue and has been "silenced". Although I firmly believe GRRM has written it to be Euron, I do wonder if fan service will change it in the show. I even wonder why they left that part of the prophesy out of the show when they clearly showed the scene from Cersei's childhood. I hope it's not completely cut out from the show. Awesome video, as always, Myssa of the Sweet Summer Juice ❤

    I still think it's Jaime. Yes you have mentioned Every little person (intended) but who does she really call little brother. She calls tyrion little because well he is little but sometimes she does let Jaime know that she is older. I think it is who she considers family. And in season 7 when they show the Jamie and cercei First scene . They stood on a map. Cersei stood at the part of the map known as the neck and Jaime on the part known as the fingers. Just saying tho

    As far as I know, there's actually no support for the claim that Valyrian is gender neutral. I think it's far more reasonable to assume that the specific Valyrian word for prince/ss is gender neutral, akin to "regent", "claimant" or "pretender to the throne" in English, and I think it is simply because it's a _title_ derived from the Valyrian word for dragon, because the reference is about dragons being neither male nor female.
    It has been argued that valonquar _could_ be gender neutral, because there is one other example of a gender neutral Valyrian word, but it's quite a hasty conclusion to decide that all words are gender neutral because of one example, especially considering valonquar literally being translated 'little brother', never 'little brother or sister', and as you pointed out, it said the valonquar would wrap _his_ hands around her throat.

  • @paulchambers8135
    @paulchambers8135 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Valonqar is Jaime. For reasons being that it will be most powerful in the context of the story.
    Surprised that Tyrion is ruled out for story reasons, but Jaime discounted even though he has the strongest claim based on story - it would fit both his and Cersei's story arc (it isn't simply about Cersei being wrong about the prophecy, it is in fact the story of how her own actions actively lead to the prophecy coming true). She will drive Jaime to this action, I have no doubt.
    Of course, it could be different in the books to the show. They've made efforts to set up Euron as a potential Valonqar in the show, I think that's verifiable from the evidence you put forward. But will GRRM do the same in the books?

  • @TheDragiix3
    @TheDragiix3 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thought that occurred to me once was, what if the "younger, more beautiful" was really just a metaphor. It's also about the fact that knowing your future influences your future aka Oedipus, things happen maybe because you know they happen. Maybe the "younger, more beautiful" really just refers to younger Cersei because thinking back is what makes her paranoid. Thinking about the prophesy is what drives Cersei insane partially, she distrusts everybody and every woman she sees who gains power is immediately that one younger, more beautiful. But maybe it's just a joke and it all refers to herself. She loses her youth. She loses her beauty. And the more she focuses on that the more she loses.

    In light of this video, I propose there is a little brother left out of this scenario. The Hound. I personally feel it would be poetic and tie things up nicely if Arya and the Hound teamed up and finish each other's list. Arya against the Mountain. The Hound against Cersi.
    That, would be so much better than Euron. I hope Theon, kills him right off and frees his sister. Yara Queen of the Iron Islands. 👍

      I love the idea of Arya killing the zombie Mountain. Since he's so large and she'd sneak up on him since she's small. It could be done simultaneously, the killings of the Mountain and Cersei. I do think Arya would really love to do it herself though, but maybe those would be good enough exchanges and Arya can like spit on Cersei before she dies or something lol.

    • @pietrayday9915
      @pietrayday9915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure whether it will go that direction, but there's something kind of appealing about it to me: I rather enjoyed the way that Arya and the Hound had begun working together and showing some humanity and vulnerability to each other. Sandor Clegayne has become one of my favorite characters on the show, along with Brienne of Tarth - I think I could enjoy seeing some "Big Damned Hero" moments and possibly a happy ending for both of them, and I don't think that I'd object to seeing it work out to a happy ending for Arya at the same time (I'm not into the whole "'shipping" thing, but, with just a little further character development, wouldn't the three of them have made an interesting surrogate family for each other? I might be kind of crazy, though. Still, it seems like GRRM might be lining up at least something between Sandor and Brienne, and also perhaps something between Arya and Gendry, while Sandor and Brienne seem like two of the only non-Stark characters who might possibly have Arya's best interests at heart....)
      I also like the way that Theon - and, for that matter, Jaime - have become much more relatable characters after facing their respective hardships, and could enjoy seeing things work out well for those characters as well.
      That said, the series seems to me to thrive far more on serious character flaws driving characters to ironic dooms they had blinded themselves to seeing coming, than it does on characters overcoming their limitations and living "happily ever after". From that perspective, it might prove more satisfying for these characters to get what they want, beyond their worst nightmares. Arya in particular, in her single-minded quest for vengeance, seems like one of those inflexible characters that the story seems to delight in helping to their self-destruction.
      So, it's a tough call, but a part of me does find your idea appealing!

  • @tracygoode3037
    @tracygoode3037 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Martin makes a point that one WORD--the word for Prince or Princess--is Gender Neutral. He does NOT say ALL Valyrian is gender neutral,; that is an error everyone keeps making because it fits into their idea of a neat and tidy solution and lets them think Arya will kill Cersei. The Valonqar is a little brother. Period. He doesn't say, "YOUR Valonqar," so most likely it is not Jaime--and never was Tyrion. It may, however, be the Hound or Euron or Theon--if the books follow suit from the show, it's likely Theon for what Cersei and Euron do to Asha.

    When you said Euron I thought "ugh, really?" And then within about two sentences you'd convinced me. Really interesting, solid points, and with the way the show's been pushing his interest and their dynamic I could really see him killing her in some kind of rage once she'd lost all her power, thus losing him his shot at the throne.

    During this video, I suddenly understood Cersei and her motives.
    And suddenly I see humanity in her. At least in her younger years, she could have been any one of us. Power hungry? Sure. Verging on nepotism? Absolutely. Nothing wrong with either of those traits on the human psyche. She is mostly misunderstood because she's unapologetic about what she does. But that comes from her lineage.
    Eventually she loses everything, and that pushes her over the edge.
    Suddenly I want her to sit on the throne at the very end. Give her a purpose again .
