    I just completed this job. two things to note: before pulling the wheel hub off at 8:19, remove the ABS sensor attached to the top. You got lucky since its fairly new and the hub came right off for ya due to no rust, but I pulled it and bent the metal "dust shield" that is attached to the other hub side (its just that one 10mm bolt to unscrew). Not fun. Also, put some antisieze on the axle before putting the hub back on. ChrisFix has a great video about this.
    Secondly, when adjusting the parking brake at 10:22, I messed with it while it was out and I could not feel which way tightens the parking brake. Pushing UP (clockwise) will tighten the parking brake, and pushing DOWN loosens the brake adjuster.
    that aside, great video. Please upvote so others can see.
    EDIT: I also did steel brake lines while adding my brembos. Couple of pointers: you need a flare wrench to unscrew the flare nut. *DO NOT* attempt to do this job without one. Use a pipe to push your brake pedal down and latch it between the seat. That way, you wont have brake fluid leaking everywhere once you unscrew the flare nut.

    Pro tip for next time. Get a two by four or some sort of stick, open up one of the break bleeder's and then press the brake pedal to the floor and hold it there by wedging it in place to the seat. Now you can remove the brake lines all around and no fluid will leak out of the lines. You can take your time and virtually no mess.
    Oh an that car looks awesome in Silver, that would be my choice as well.

    @catalyst4k what diameter are the F&R rotors? Your how-to videos inspire me. I gonna get F&R Wilwood Narrow Superlite BBK at 328mm but I want to retain dust shields. I got to do some research to see if the versions from the BRZ Performance Package will work or not… If not I definitely don’t want to cut the dust shields like most do on rear. Instead I will take apart the rear hub, like you did, to unbolt and remove the entire dust shields so long as it does not contain any brackets that are necessary

    • @Catalyst4k
      @Catalyst4k  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad I inspire you! I believe OEM Brembo Performance package front rotors 326x30mm, rear rotors 316x20mm.

  • @cddevelopment363
    @cddevelopment363 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not sure if this applies to your BRZ, but I had a quick question as this is a mod I want to do for my GR86. Did you notice any significant changes to your traction control, ABS, or pre-collision system? I wouldn't want to throw on a BBK if it's going to mess with the handling too much.

    • @Catalyst4k
      @Catalyst4k  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well mine doesn’t have the pre-collision braking but I have had any issues with the ABS engaging weirdly. It should also be tied into the wheel speed sensors so it will adjust to the braking force in my opinion.

      Yes, I say this because I know the stock BRZ with Brembos comes with 17 inch wheels. Tight fit but it worked on the stock Preformance package wheels.

    I don’t think it’s a great idea to use the existing front brake lines. Both factory and aftermarket lines suited to the Brembos have a distinct bend in the steel banjo fitting that attaches to the calipers. Sure it works as is however I suspect there’s a lot of stress on the lines.

  • @JuanCastillo_es

    You upgraded your brakes and then added a dot 5.1 liquid... that's... let's say, unefficient...
    Man clean the lines very very carefully and put a good dot4

    • @Catalyst4k
      @Catalyst4k  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm.. Can I get more feedback on this? Would you say you have had better experience with DOT 4?

    • @JuanCastillo_es
      @JuanCastillo_es ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a long answer, but just clean the lines to remove all the dot5.1 and put a dot 4. Your break pump is optimized for dot4, which is usually better than 5.1 btw....
      Another topic not related to dot, even if you use a 3, 4, or 5.1, never use a racing liquid if you wanna keep your calipers healthy.
      Ferodo super formula works fine
