  • We pick up our 2022 BRZ / GR86 development where we left off since tuning is finally available! Thank you EcuTek!!!
    We start off with a fresh oil change and install a catted midpipe, completing the exhaust system on the car. After this we tune the BRZ on our dyno on pump gas an E30 fuel.
    Let's find out just how much power Subaru left on the table for this engine and which parts work (and which don't)

    I really like how consistent the tuned torque figure and how 4000 is emphasized for when you want to continue through. Great advice on the difference between unequal length and equal length. Definitely looking towards unequal length. Subscribing for what you can do with equal length. It honestly looks like it would be decent in North American red light traffic. 1st gear 3500 RPM shift 2nd gear 3500 RPM shift and then 3rd and 4th you shift around 2500. Combine a tune with a throttle response controller and you could probably net 26MPG and have that old school connected feel. No one really appreciates a smooth engine anymore.

    My 2024 GR86 is my first NEW car after driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LT (that I got used from a rental agency) for 17 years. I wish I had the money to just throw my fantastic warrantee and lifetime oil changes out the window. Then again...if I had that kind of money I would get a Supra or Porsche.

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The right time to tune and modify a car is different for everyone. Warranty does eventually expire and I don’t see how modifying the car should affect the oil change package. The only question there is if you wanted to keep running the oil they are offering as part of it. OEM spec oil is quite thin for track use for example.

  • @timster046
    @timster046 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The torque hump would feel like those old 4AGE motors with the T-Vis switch over at 4000rpm. It was like a little push and then the revs built up fast. I have seen from other videos, you can up the rev cut to 7800 with the EL headers tuned, the power at the top end carries for longer which gives you a wider rev band between that torque dip and the limiter. The Australian BRZ does not have the carbon intake insert either, seems to be just the North American market.

    The new car is responding well considering the lower grade headers used. I’m sure a catless JDL 4-2-1 EL would wake it up even more for owners.
    This is the second result I’ve seen where E85/E30 doesn’t give a noticeable power jump like it did on the Gen1.

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Timing is fairly high even on 93. It’s a well designed motor and not very knock prone. So extra octane is not helping as much.

    • @JordieG8

    Is it safe to change any part of the exhaust without ever getting a tune (and not getting a CEL)? I don’t care much for power gains, I just want to replace the oem parts with better quality material and also want the car to breathe a bit better without all the factory restrictions.

    • @stratifiedauto
