  • A great way to improve the stock BRZ/FR-S/86 is by upgrading the braking system (unless you have the TRD edition with the massive Brembo package). This car handles great and has a good degree of power for what you need, so improving the braking is going to make this car feel a little sportier and quicker around the corners. In this video, we dive into several of the most popular and effective ways to upgrade the brakes on this platform.

I wouldn't recommend Hawk HPS to anybody doing a track day with base model brakes. My own car with 200tw tyres, stock power, usually gets temps around 1000-1100F. HPS work to around 700F. Hawk have great temp comparisons on their site.

Can you confirm which models/options have the TRD brake kits as OEM? I haven't heard of this upgrade on a FRS/BRZ before

The TRD trim level was introduced as a 2018 option, and included the more robust Brembo brakes. www.caranddriver.com/news/a22517593/toyota-86-gets-harder-edged-trd-model/

@@thomasedwards6144 TRD edition has the same brembo brakes as the performance pack BRZ. The TRD brakes he was taking about is a real kit but it’s only available through TRD Japan

I bet all the stock brakes on these cars are still better than the OEM C8 brakes

I'm just a normal old guy. I cannot stand brake booster delay. Does anybody talk about that?

Drilled rotors are good for failing on the track. If you track your car, stay away from them.
