Team Peardeck! During virtual school Peardeck helped me to be able to bring back class discussions and student participation into my lessons. I've created slides for most of the topics in my subject so Peardeck integration is just easier for me. Peardeck is also simple and straightforward. I found that I didn't have to do much explaining of how Peardeck works with my students, which was not the case with Nearpod. It felt cumbersome and overwhelming for me as the teacher and much more so for my students. I tried Nearpod once with a class and my students told me to go back to Peardeck so Peardeck FTW!

When Nearpod first started up, I was selected to be part of the alpha testing group and continued on though the beta testing which resulted in a lifetime gold membership. So, most of my resources are in Nearpod along with my library of lessons. Thus, I use Nearpod. Nearpod isn't perfect and has things it needs to improve, but the Nearpod team is consistently adding things and they do listen to their users. So no real complaints there.
I've used Peardeck before and I didn't really find it doing much that Nearpod couldn't also do. And like in this video, some things are better and some things were worse but nothing was enough to make me want to change and try to transfer all my stuff over.

I personally loved using Nearpod when I could edit right from my Google Slides account. A few things that really hindered my effective use of Nearpod were students not being able to access their same work where they left off after they leave the session in progress. I would end up with kids having multiple assignment entries. The other thing that bothered me was students not being able to access the work on their own if the lesson was originally started during class live. It meant having the do the assignment separate from the rest of the group and then my not having full class data because of it. I do like that Nearpod has so much content already created that teachers have created to choose from.

I like both, but prefer Nearpod. Nearpod has more features, a cleaner interface during the teacher-guided lesson, better Draw It tool (which is included with the free version), and you can share student responses back to students for discussion without a projector... but they both do the job well. But wait, Peardeck is less expensive and is simpler to integrate with existing Google Slides and has nice feedback tools. Ultimately, whenever I use Peardeck, however, I feel like I made the wrong choice.

    • @NewEdTechClassroom

Pear Deck because the amount of options in Nearpod can br treally overwhelming for both theachers and students.
