In this vlog, I share my daily routine for getting all of my students participating. Pear Deck is a highly effective tool. My video is not sponsored by Pear Deck. I use it in various ways, but I choose to share my daily routine with you. Pear Deck offers a variety of ways to turn slides into interactive tools for learning and it makes sharing their work super easy! I use it for
class polls, graphic organizers, whole class learning, and small group work.
My name is Alexa Borota and I am a high school English teacher; I also taught middle school English Language Arts. I merge my passion for education with my love of creating vlog-style content. My goals are to share tips and insight about teaching in an entertaining way. Teaching is less stressful when we are supporting each other and sharing' our best practices. When I was a new teacher, I wanted to know how other teachers were delivering lessons and what their classroom management routines were. I hope my content is helpful for both new and seasoned teachers.

I work at an adult school that let's some high school students enroll too and it uses peardeck all the time so being a Eng/Hist/Music teacher all my courses are made to engage w/ it with some way. Your showcase of its features is spot on, though in my experience where most of the students at my school dropped out from their previous schools, they can't be forced to talk or work w/ each other since they are very set in their ways of only doing things individually. Yet, peardeck is still useful so I'm for it and like your examples which have big enough font and images to read cuz the people at my school who make the peardecks make the font and pics way too small which is annoying to me and the students.

I am graduating with a degree in English, and I'll be teaching Middle School students. I would love to hear/see more about PearDeck!!! I am so glad you showed up on my homepage. I am a new subscriber! Congrats on your 1K!!!

Thank you and it’s coming! At some point I will be making a Small Groups series where I focus on how you can use the free version of PearDeck to get students working together, among other tools. Canva also offers some great tools, but I’ll save that for next year. Perfect for middle school, both PearDeck and Canva.

Would you mind sharing the deck you use to push students to collaborate? You mentioned it in relation to station work. Thank you! Doug

I'm interested in how you use PearDeck for small groups. I'm looking for ways/tools to incorporate differentiation in my classroom.

Thanks for the great ideas, especially about making a copy and editing it for GT or EB learners! When are you making a video on how you use Peardeck for your small groups? I am interested in seeing that!

I am literally planning out my vlogs for the rest of the school year and will incorporate that. I’m working on creating vlogs in short series so they aren’t so random. I will add that one to my small group series, but for you 😃, will create a 1-2 shorts about it. I’ll send you a comment after I post them and hope they help.

I was really looking forward to learning from you, but after 2 ½ minutes you still haven't started, which might have been tolerable had it not been for the excessive cuts and random transitions.

Feedback appreciated. This is something I learned to get better at more recently. Video creation is a learning curve that only gets better with honest feedback.
